Is anyone else excited about possible Oasis reunion?

Love the brooding lads and their love-hate relationship. Would be great to relive 90s for a couple of hours and forget my real age for a moment! How much do you think tickets will be?

Me and dd are going to try and get tickets. Dh loved them back in the day and saw them a few times, he has no interest in going again, predicts there’ll be a drama and the gigs won’t even happen. He’s possibly correct but I’ll be trying to get dd and I tickets on the off chance!

Oganesson118 · 27/08/2024 08:32

Don’t give two hoots. Liked them in their 90s heyday, though never asked to go see them (the answer would have been no anyway) but they’ve lost their shine for me.

Timeforanotheraliasnow · 27/08/2024 08:35

Not impressed. I think they had 2 or 3 decent songs, that's all

HoxtHun · 27/08/2024 08:38

I adored their music, and the element of swagger it clothed the country in. Whenever I was out of the UK for long periods it was the sound of Oasis blaring across a street that I missed most. (Alongside indifferent Customs officials and gently rolling green hills.)

Heaton Park (in particular) will surely be carnage. I’ll definitely be watching from my sofa. Grin

This negativity is giving me a small glimmer of hope to get some tickets! I had assumed everyyyyyone of a certain age would want to go - seems not!

Yes me! Love them.

can’t understand the haters who comment, just scroll on by!

any top tips on getting tickets

If you don't get any sign up for twickets alerts and spend the next 9 months waiting for someone to not pip you to that one as well!

I do this all the time with big concerts and haven't yet failed to get a ticket.

poppym12 · 27/08/2024 08:41

I thought I'd want to see them if I could get tickets but after watching the crowd at Reading, I'm not so sure I want the hassle. 30 years ago I loved festivals and big gigs but I tend to go to smaller venues now.

And as a previous poster said, I'd be bloody annoyed if they had a big fall out mid tour and cancelled the rest.

Ilovegoldies · 27/08/2024 08:42

Nope. I work in a stadium stewarding. The fans behaved so appallingly that some of the stewards were traumatised. I'm not joking. They got covered in piss. I wasn't there all those years ago but I hope I'm not placed front and centre.

JohnCravensNewsround · 27/08/2024 08:43

I give it 3 weeks. So if they announce they are playing live Tuesday week, I'll go for it.

Waitingfordoggo · 27/08/2024 08:46

I hate the band (Pulp were my thing) but my DS is desperate to see them so we’ll be trying to get tickets.

Thanks for the heads-up on Twickets @Moonshiners

undertheashtree · 27/08/2024 08:52

I never liked one single thing about these two! No doubt they just want to make money. It does reinforce to me how out of touch the news media is - BBC have this as the top story on their website! With all that is going on in the world that is just ridiculous!

Roryno · 27/08/2024 09:00

No. I used to think a few of their songs were good, but generally they were massively overrated. And so full of themselves. They’re total have beens. Both have had very mediocre solo careers. Why would I bother spending hundreds of ££ seeing them! And as someone said, they’ll probably have split up by Glastonbury!

Hah, but now our kids want to go too… which makes it extra ‘spensive.

Apparently Noel’s ex wife and Liam hated each other and for years she was the main blocker to a reunion but after she left Noel and they divorced he’s been more open to a reunion and it looks like it is finally happening.

Think there is truth in this. And doesn't matter if Noel was married to a man or a woman, any kind of deep family rift would create issues with a reunion.

No, not excited at all. They’re like the poster boys for a crap time in UK music and a really badly dated 90s ‘lad’ tabloid-led culture. I can’t understand why anyone is excited about this. Let them sort out their own tax bills.

JaneJeffer · 27/08/2024 10:52

Yes!!

LoveRosesClimbing · 27/08/2024 10:52

Someone mentioned Pulp upthread who are a fucking amazing band and due to the media hype from decades ago poor Blur will also get dragged into this. They are both bands with unbelievably talented musicians. Oasis on the other hand just think they are ‘rock stars’ that’s their only talent.

JaneJeffer · 27/08/2024 10:55

Pfft

HoxtHun · 27/08/2024 12:38

Pfft

Seconded! It was era defining music and we were fortunate to have been around to witness it.

And as for ‘They only want to make money …’ Pfft, again. They made money because they were popular. Don’t most people aim to profit from their own skills and talent?

BadgersGalore · 27/08/2024 13:09

Yes I will be trying to get tickets for me and dh at Manchester. Not sure how successful I will be as I need disabled seating which complicates things.

We saw them at their last ever performance at V in 2009. They were so good and Liam was being incredibly belligerent and very 'Liam' which added to the enjoyment 😂

You could try ringing in advance but there should be a limited amount of access tickets online.
You might be better off trying for Cardiff, London or Edinburgh as they are well established stadiums with appropriate disability access.
Heaton park is just a park!!

BadgersGalore · 27/08/2024 14:36

@JaneIves thank you for your advice, we are in the Midlands so it's not as if Manchester is convenient for us: I think I will look at the other venues instead. I just like visiting Manchester!

EmeraldRoulette · 27/08/2024 15:19

I just clicked to see if anyone had thanked Matty Healy 😂

I’ve no opinion on oasis really but given they’re his favourite band, and the 1975 are my favourite band, I feel as if there’d be more influence but I guess not.
