Love these songs, even though you can't find them on 80s compilation CDs or they get very rarely played on radio. Mine are:
'chocolate girl ' and 'ship called dignity' by Deacon Blue. I still dont entirely get what they're about though.
'beds are burning ' by midnight oil.
'sign of the times' by Belle stars. Prince version is great too
Sowing the seeds of love

I'm sure I'll remember more 😂

My sister always has Absolute 80s on and I hear most of these

they feature on my own playlists and are on my 80s CDs.

the only thing I thought a lot of people don't hear or know, is the Lover Speaks, No more I love yous. I think a lot of people know the version Annie Lennox did though.

Say Hello, Wave Goodbye by Soft Cell. Absolute blinder of a song, with soaring vocals. Also, anything by the Jam (apart from Funeral Pyre). Long Hot Summer and Solid Bond in Your Heart by the Style Council.

Love these . Also the poster who mentioned 'if you leave' by OMD - got that singing in my head now !

B Movie - A Letter From Afar
Blancmange - Blind Vision
The Cure - Let's Go To Bed

ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 24/04/2023 23:22

Agree though - very few of these are 'overlooked' - not if you listen to a radio station that plays 80s stuff anyway

'ship called dignity' by Deacon Blue

Don't know where you live, but I hear it all the bloody time on the radio.

Me too unfortunately!

Can't stand Deacon Blue, DH loves them so alas it's a running battle between us.

Don't hear enough Souvenir by OMD for my liking
