Will anyone recognise this description of a video and song?

I think that this song was within the last 15 years. I remember it on a Youtube video.
The singer is a white man in his 20s(?)
The song is about a young man revisiting his home - a place of abuse for him(?) and his mother(?) at the hands of a (step)father.

The video was of the singer outside the rustic home.

I have searched Google and can find nothing. Driving myself crazy!
Are there any musical savants out there in MN land?

For some reason this is making me think of 7 Years by Lukas Graham, but I don't think that's the storyline of the song. Thought I'd put it out there just in case!

Cherry Wine by Hozier?

Ohffs66 · 08/08/2020 15:23

This could be helpful....

Neither Hozier nor Lukas! The genre of Hozier is similar though.

Clutching at straws here but is it 'No son of mine' by Genesis?

rosegoldwatcher · 08/08/2020 19:12

Absolutely not Genesis.

Thanks to all posters for trying to help.

Ryan Tedder?

holyshitdude · 08/08/2020 19:20

Tim McGraw?

rosegoldwatcher · 08/08/2020 19:20

Not Ryan.

Most of the suggested are far more handsome than my unremembered singer!

I think he was playing a guitar in the video.

Eddie Vedder from Pearl Jam did a few solos songs a few years ago. Maybe him?

tmh88 · 08/08/2020 19:28

Travis.. blue flashing light? I hope someone gets this!

lemmein · 08/08/2020 19:28

Take me to church?

WillowintheUK · 08/08/2020 19:33

Beardy American singer who plays guitar - could be Ray LaMontagne.

MiaFarrowsWheelbarrow · 08/08/2020 19:34

Richard Marks?

TotheletterofthelawTHELETTER · 08/08/2020 19:41

James Arthur? Not American but he did a song like that where he went back to his family home in Middlesbrough and he plays guitar.

LittleMissNaice · 08/08/2020 19:44

Jake Bugg?

TotheletterofthelawTHELETTER · 08/08/2020 19:45

Just googled, it’s called Quite Miss Home. He’s beardy and a bit chubby like you said.
Lyrics aren’t about abuse but it’s a sad song about missing home

rosegoldwatcher · 08/08/2020 19:46

None of those. Sorry!

Song was not at all cheesy.
