Especially for you - Kylie Minogue. Oh yeah, total TUNE 😂

@Toddlerteaplease ooh good choice! Making a note to add to my Spotify playlist!

St Elmo's Fire - and I am sure I got it from Boot's - did they sell records?

Talcott2007 · 13/08/2019 21:31

Oooohhh! I technically my 1st was a 3 way tie - Woolworths had a deal 3 Cassettes for £X - they were Billie Piper (Honey to the Bee) Aqua (Barbie Girl) and Eminem (Stan) - Yes I know, i had somewhat eclectic taste! Grin

Boots did sell records. That's where I bought Car 67. My brother bought Cars by Gary Numan in Boots about nine months later.

I got a turntable for my 8th birthday and my mother gave me $1 to buy my first single.
I wanted to buy the Rolling Stone's "Miss You" because I loved the bit about the "Puerto Rican girls just dyin' to meet you".
My 16-year-old sister said that it wasn't a suitable song for an eight-year-old to buy so she took my $1 out of my hand and bought Barry Manilow's "Copa Cabana".

41 years later and I still haven't forgiven her.

My first track was on a small round piece of black vinyl called a 'record' by Gerry and the Pacemakers 'Don't let the sun catch you crying'. I still have it (somewhere). Now I feel really old.

Fallen by Evanescence, so not a track but an album (does Going Under count as that's the first song?) I was 15, it was the Christmas holidays and I had to get it from WHSmith because I was too scared to get it from HMV or Virgin music (I was a shy little bean and the 'cool' shops scared me.) Still love that album at 31 although I'm on my fifth copy of the CD, and I mostly listen to it on my tablet now.

fussychica · 19/09/2019 23:09

Free Alright Now or My Brother Jake from a stall on the market which sold second-hand records. Classics.

Chloe9 · 07/10/2019 15:47

Billie Honey to the Bee, Steps 5 6 7 8 and Barbie Girl by AQUA singles on tape (might have been others on the tape I don't remember). I remember regretting not getting the Spice World Album instead. So I persuaded my sister to on her birthday and then wouldn't let her listen to it.
