For the life of me I really don't remember what my first single was but from the top of my head, I think it was Evergreen by Will Young, I had such a crush on him when he was on Pop Idol 😳

Co-co by the Sweet in 1971 - no idea what it was supposed to be about Confused but saved up my 'spending money' to buy it Grin

TheCheeseAlarm · 09/07/2019 23:53

Blondie - Heart of Glass. Went halves with my dad because he fancied Debbie Harry.

Finfintytint · 10/07/2019 00:02

Don’t give up on us baby. David Soul. Black bean soup was B side. Nasty neighbour bought it for my birthday knowing we didn’t have a record player. Mum got one pretty damn quick.

Mytholmroyd · 10/07/2019 00:04

Heart of Glass - what a fab record that was - loved loved loved Debbie Harry Star

LazyLizzy · 10/07/2019 00:09

Wuthering Heights Kate Bush, with my pocket money.

OnGoldenPond · 10/07/2019 00:10

Snap, Cheese! Heart of Glass for me too!

Debbie Harry was so cool - still is now. Absolutely idolised her as a teen.

MrsMoastyToasty · 10/07/2019 00:14

Bye Bye Baby by the Bay City Rollers.

The man who lived next door to us owned a record shop, so he brought it home for me and I paid him my hard earned pocket money.

ElGuardiandenoche · 10/07/2019 01:15

Thanks for all the lovely memories folks.

My first was David Bowie: Starman. It cemented Alice long love for Bowie.

I also hearing Seven Seas of Rhye on the radio a couple of years later and hunting around and scrapping together the money to buy it. Again sparking a lifelong love.

Car 67 by Driver 67, December 1978. The B-side, Communications Breakdown (nothing to do with Led Zeppelin) is an instrumental and the better track, IMO.

MaMisled · 13/08/2019 19:06

Blondie, Denis Denis

MaMisled · 13/08/2019 19:07

We're mostly quite old, aren't we?!

WildRosie · 13/08/2019 20:44

My next purchase would have been 'Get It' by Darts the following spring. I liked the song, as did many as it was a top ten hit. My mum wouldn't let me buy it and I didn't understand why. I still don't Sad.
