Any metal fans around? I need an education!

So I've just started dating someone who is very into his heavy metal, and despite being a rock fan it's not an area of music I know well. To get an education what should I start listening to?

I'm annoyed that i missed skindred again - the mud was too bad to get up to the second stage at all

I (whispers) quite like Babymetal but found them disappointing - them coming on late due to the rain didn't help. But everyone seems to be raving about their performance. I must have missed something!

Did anyone else see Lawnmower Deth? They were hilarious, came away from their set with the biggest grin on my face.

We missed Amon Amarth and the early bands on sunday thanks to the terrible traffic after one of the car parks was closed!

So that's why it took so long to get in! I ended up in one of the overflow car parks, which actually was far quicker to exit at night.

I thought Babymetal a little overrated actually. I'd wanted to see what the fuss was all about, it was okay but nothing I'd write home about.

Skindred were okay, quite liked them.

I missed Babymetal because of traffic! Amon Amarth, Temperance Movement were also missed due to sitting in a big queue.

Sabbath were kind of sad, but I was walking back and forth between them and NoFX.

Megadeth are still my number one but of the weekend, Rammstein and Disturbed get my gold medal! I was so tired at work on Monday (we live over 2 hrs away from Donington and stayed till the end of Maiden!)
