I thought I would start a post about favourite albums because I am a bit of a music obsessive. These are ten of my favourite albums, although I have many favourites:

  1. Suede 'Dog Man Star'
  2. David Bowie 'The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars'
  3. Sex Pistols 'Never Mind the Bollocks, Here's the Sex Pistols'
  4. Pulp 'Different Class'
  5. Oasis 'Definitely Maybe'
  6. The Smiths 'Hatful of Hollow'
  7. Elvis Costello 'Armed Forces'
  8. Pixies 'Surfer Rosa'
  9. The Beatles 'Revolver'
10. Dexys Midnight Runners 'Searching for the Young Soul Rebels'

Today the list has Fever To Tell by Yeah Yeah Yeahs on it. And Time's Up by Living Colour. And Heartwork by Carcass.

If I'm allowed a live DVD I'd go for Tell Me What Rockers To Swallow by Yeahx3.

wow, Paul fans on MN, never thought I'd see the day. used to love him!! Still have loads of his stuff kicking round. Plus two biographies Hmm I like Mr Bellamy out of his new stuff. Band on the Run is great, so is the London album, can't remember the name....oh and whatever album Temporary Secretary's on!
Also remember as a kid almost wearing out a George Harrison album - Cloud 9? Also something by Julian. Poor Julian eh.

recent albums am listening to:

The Player - The Supermen Lovers
De Lachende Derde - Jeugd van Tegenwoordig
J.A.Y.M. - DSL
After - DSL, check out their song
Epiphanie - Para One
Prose Combat - MC Solaar, best song is imho

Also Breakbot, Mickey Moonlight, SebastiAn, and LRD's very nice remix of Justice's DANCE

My son gave me an album yesterday - Anywhere But Home by Evanescence. I'm a big fan since their early, early work and was surprised I'd missed it. Probably because it's a live album - I don't get along well with these (Queen at Wembley the notable exception).

Regardless I had a listen last night and really enjoyed it. It feels natural and not forced and quite surprised me.

My ears were popped off at the end though. I've been listening to an old, very dubiously sourced (think You) version of Missing for years and it's very much my favourite Ev song, it's a song that cries to my mental state through many years and resonates as emphatically and painfully as ever. So to hear a studio version had tears in my eyes. Amazed.

I can't think of 10, so will just mention these
Transformer - Lou Reed
Low, Young Americans, station to station - David Bowie
Horses - Patti Smith

I'd add
Strange Angels - Kristen Hersh.
Barrett - Syd Barrett
Ocean Rain - Echo and the Bunnymen
Ogden's Nut Gone Flake - Small Faces
