OK, I'm going through some really rough times, and have had a spectacularly rotten day today. I need some musical distractions.

i love Iron Maiden, Nickelback, Metallica, Stone Sour, Foo Fighters, etc.

Name me some songs that will cheer me up/let me sing my rage out/make me smile, please.

For your troubles, I shall share

Oh yes! soundgarden. Oh yes please to the lovely Chris Cornell.

GillyBillyWilly · 28/09/2013 09:05

Rainbow - I Surrender

Used to love in a flat in Camden town and we use to blare that song out at sing at the top of our lungs! Love it!

Ooooh and Kansas - Carry on my wayward son.

Smile

This thread is awesome - should've started it in Music really, it'll be a shame when it disappears.

Having a bit of an Iron Maiden morning, then will probably go through all these links :)

Wait - there's a music topic?? Where Freds like this reside? Oh I'd better go and look!!

Lollipop - hope you're feeling ok this morning, sorry about all the stressful stuff Thanks

ElleMcFearsome · 28/09/2013 09:43

Oh and I've asked if we can get it moved to the Music bit (which I have now found Grin)

LollipopViolet · 28/09/2013 09:54

Elle unfortunately, granddad passed away this morning, with his wife of nearly 50 years by his side. I'm using music as a bit of an escape at the moment - have just spoken to a dear friend, who contacted some other friends for me, and they're now texting their support.

Having to be careful what I listen to, as certain songs will just set me off right now!

And yay for finding the music section - I had completely forgotten about it til this morning!

Thank you - at the moment I'm just feeling, almost numb. Like it's not really sunk in.

Music is helping though, playing lots of stuff I can have a good sing to.

I am so sorry for your loss Lollipop.

I hope it is some comfort that he passed away by the side of the woman he loved.

My condolences to you and your family.

GillyBillyWilly · 28/09/2013 17:10

Also UFO - doctor doctor (iron maiden often cover it on the live sets)

LollipopViolet · 29/09/2013 09:59

Finding lots of comfort in friends and music at the moment :)

This thread is making me want to go to a gig so badly! Except I'd need to take stilts as I'm only 5 foot 2 and I always seem to have a 6 foot plus bloke stood in front of me! So annoying...

LV, I'm sorry Flowers

NicholasTeakozy · 29/09/2013 18:39

Sorry to hear about your granddad Lollipop.

Have any of you heard Unlocking The Truth? I think they're bloody brilliant.

Boosterseat · 03/10/2013 19:06

How are you Lollipop

I listened to Free Bord today and thought of you.

For everyone

Sorry to hear of your loss Lollipop.
Another song I love is Hunger Strike by Temple of the Dog. Check out the video on youtube, Chris Cornell and Eddie Vedder at their most gorgeous. For up to date retro The Temperance Movement are brilliant. Also the Gaslight Anthem, very early Springsteenesque. Some great British bands: UFO, Little Angels, The Almighty ( Ricky Warwick sings with Black Star Riders now) Skin.
Hope the music provides you with some solace Loll.
