Forgot to say anyone with a log in should be able to add songs to the book so feel free - you may also need to change the instrument at the bottom to ukulele C tuning .

Love that songbook, smelly, thank you! :)
Didn't get my Uke out tonight. Got my tits out instead! (ok, less fun than it sounds. The three month old is having a bit of a feeding frenzy.) But I am v.excited about trying some of those out. I forsee a U2 weekend Grin

London ukers there's a Groupon offer today for a 2 hour Uke lesson in Soho - £16.

Includes Uke hire but the fine print says it's taught in 'groups of up to 40'. Think it's probably going to get you to learn 3-4 chords then have a bash at a group playing session.

A tip that we did at the workshop was to get some of those little coloured dot stickers and put them on? So I have a green dot on the fretboard for C, blue dots for G and red dots for F. For anyone who prefers a visual reminder, it makes life ALOT easier! Plus it was funny having the chap shouting out 'Green 2, 3, 4, Red, 2, 3, 4, Green.....'

Coloured stickers is a genius idea. Ill get some at the weekend.

I'm looking at my ipad for the chords, then looking at my chord sheet for whe to put my fingers and its very disjointed,

Inspired by another thread on here, I have found the chords for Victoria Wood's Let's Do It. My friend loves VW and its his birthday in May so if I start now I might be ok for then.
DH hates it. Oh well!

Oh my uke didn't arrive today and I waited in all day especially. I love the coloured dots idea though and have some downstairs somewhere so I'm going to find them out ready. Love the songbook too and can't wait to start.

My uke didn't arrive today either, but my book 'Ukulele for Dummies' did so started having a read and now I just really want to start playing!

Anyone playing tonight? I am holed up with wine, uke and e-cig. I may never leave this room again!

I've practiced a bit this afternoon. Am still trying to learn chords. Then I try an easy song and its crap.....forget the chords, am really slow changing from one to another and have no idea of strumming pattern. I have no rhythm. So I give up and try another easy song and repeat!

I ordered a book from amazon to give me a bit more direction.

My tuner arrived today so I have now tuned it properly.

love this online ukelele ensemble. What has motivated you all to go and buy ukeleles?

I think I'm sounding pretty good, though independent listeners may not agree.
Here's a funny thing; I was in bed yesterday morning when I heard a uke being played. Thinking the cat was somehow playing mine (I dunno...) I went downstairs to discover it was coming from next door! There's a uke quiche on my street! I'm going to drop it into conversation next time I see them.

Zzzzenagain, I started a thread asking if anyone played and was it easy to learn as I fancied learning to play. Next thing quite a few people are ordering ukes! Grin

Misty Miller has inspired me to want to learn....and maybe the Lumineers as well.

I've been playing Lets Do It, A Little Respect and I've found the chords to Feel my Love so I'm going to give that a go in a sec.
I keep on tripping over the words in Let's Do It, it's a bit quick.
The Nottingham Ukulele Club has an excellent songbook. I can't link as I'm on the app but I recommend a google.

Nottingham uke club looks really good and active. Shame I don't live nearer!

I'm really liking these YouTube videos. here

One thing I've noticed is that I think I have fat finger tips. So I'm when playing f chord, my second finger is on the top string but its touching the next string down. Not pressing it down but definety touching it, I'm struggling to totally clear it. Will this be a problem? My chords don't sound the same as on the YouTube videos and my uke is tuned ok.

I have so far managed Stand By Me which is just C, Am, F and G7. My fingers now stay on G7 rather than sliding off straight away but they don't like making the initial shape. It's getting a bit easier though.

I saw the Nottingham Ukulele Club page when I was looking for local things, may pop along some time in the future when I am better Smile

I find these really good as you can 'play along' and get a feel for the chord changes. Also, you can see his chord shapes and progressions.
