Here at MNHQ, it's census time again! This survey is open to everyone!

It's really useful to us to find out a bit more about the people who use Mumsnet.

As a thank you for completing the census, all who complete the survey and leave their details at the end will be entered into a prize draw where they could win one of the following 5 vouchers*:

  • 1 x £200 voucher
  • 2 x £100 vouchers
  • 2 x £50 vouchers

All responses are confidential and no individual details will be passed on to any third parties.

Please click here to complete the survey

Thanks and good luck!

MNHQ

Insight Terms and Conditions apply

*although the survey is open to (and we'd love to hear from) everyone, we're only able to supply vouchers to be used with UK retailers.

Done. Agree with people saying various questions had glaring gaps and important missing issues.

Giving first part of my postcode is a pretty huge geographical area so didn't feel question about eg property all that intrusive.

Couldn't give a recognisable to me picture of family/household/income/care/disability/ethnicity across family with this set of questions.

Why is it useful? What are you using the info for. Is it primarily used to help attract advertisers?

I don't think it's a good idea to ask for such personal and detailed info from people and just brush it off as useful

PickedByYou · 08/10/2019 04:56

Lol sorry posted too soon. I meant that I'd like to know what you will be using for?
Thanks

Done, but ….

The question about online videos was curiously limited in its scope. Do you really imagine (hope? fear?) that Mumsnetters are primarily interested in parenting, fashion, cookery and housework?

Just what I thought. If I watch videos on youtube or twitter, they're mainly about film, politics, atheism and veganism.

Also, why are teachers and lecturers placed in a lower category than doctors and lawyers? They're all graduate professions. If you're going to make fine distinctions, then something like headteachers, senior consultants and judges in one category with other members of the education, medical and legal professions in a lower category.

Some of the questions looked designed to help Mumsnet understand the membership and improve the website but others (eg are you planning to redecorate) looked as if they were just being compiled to sell off data.

The breadwinner question should have an option for 'my partner and I earn similar incomes'

WhisperingInTheDark · 11/10/2019 16:11

....other? For male/female? Come on now.

Tried to, but on the mobile it's still awful

violetbunny · 20/10/2019 00:57

Maybe it's just me, but in 2019 it really irks me as a person of mixed heritage that under "Ethnicity" I can't just check all the boxes that apply. Instead I have to check "Other" and then write "White and Chinese".

You may as well just label the box "You're the odd one out, so insert your own description here"Angry

Yes, it was odd to see some professions are apparently rated higher than others. Pretty sure I spent 6 years at Uni but am neither a doctor nor a lawyer.

BastardGoDarkly · 24/10/2019 21:48

I got through it, just, so jumpy, I'm not sure I even answered everything. Nightmare!
