Here at MNHQ we're interested in finding out more about what our users think about the upcoming EU referendum. On the 23rd June 2016, there will be a referendum to decide whether the UK should remain a member of the European Union, or whether we should leave it.

This survey is open to all Mners who are eligible to vote in UK general elections. Everyone who completes the survey will be put into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £100 Amazon voucher.

Here's the link again - www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/2HKZTG2

Thanks
MNHQ

Mary Berry is about 80, hangs out with a man that cheats on his wife and looks like Santa, she writes and presents on the subject of home baking. I have no clue why they mentioned Mary in relation to the EU?

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 23/02/2016 22:22

She's British, past, but she is a cook/food writer.

I'm still none the wiser about why I should care about her opinions on Brexit or why I should trust them. Or Idris Elba's for that matter. Although there's a chance I'd probably trust them more than Cameron of Boris tbh.

I'm just wondering why in the political party list the SNP is down below UKIP when they are the UKs third biggest party?

BlueMoonRising · 24/02/2016 17:33

I love the fact that there is the option to 'definitely change your mind' - if anyone checks that box you have to wonder why they chose their first answer...

BlueMoonRising · 24/02/2016 17:37

(although I get why someone would put that if they select not sure/don't know)

SwedishEdith · 24/02/2016 17:51

The how you voted question was tedious as no way to explain why ie tactically.

hugoagogo · 24/02/2016 18:54

I've done it too- that list of celebs seems pretty stupid.

pennwood · 25/02/2016 08:24

I just know it is important for everyone to take the opportunity to vote in June to say how our country should be run and by who for the sake of our children & grandchildren. It is the responsibility of the government to be totally honest and provide clear facts without trying to influence us to stay in, so we can make a clear choice. Having a serious survey & including celebrities is not really what I expect from Mumsnet! To get the EU to agree what to do about the immigrant situation, with lots of meetings, but no formula, gives a clear indicator of how frustrating being a member can be. Britain was Great Britain and can be again!

ThisCakeFilledIsle · 25/02/2016 09:09

Can they put in a question mentioning Lord Owen. His opinion just swayed my Mum!

BathshebaDarkstone · 25/02/2016 09:52

Have completed the survey about the referendum.

Bring it on!

OTheHugeManatee · 26/02/2016 06:59

Why were Mary Berry, Idris Elba and Jeremy Clarkson included as figures you might 'trust'?

It's almost as though you think we're a bunch of shallow, celebrity-obsessed women uninterested in serious political debate Hmm

alialiath · 26/02/2016 17:40

If you want to lose workers rights, parental rights like maternity/paternity leave, human rights then by all means leave the EU, and accept a watered down version of basically no rights, which this Tory government are keen to implement asap

pastmyduedate0208 · 26/02/2016 21:00

Well you've fallen for scaremongering right there, alialiath.

The EU does not impose a continuum onto workers rights, each country in the EU creates it's own laws regarding employment law and each country in the EU has their own employment laws.

What you can guarantee with EU open border and "ever closer union" is that working class and skilled wages will continue to depress in the UK and the cost of living will continue to rise in the UK.

Just tried to complete Survey on mobile site (using an android phone). When I tried to asnwe the questions, it kept taking me back to Q10, so I'd have to keep scrolling back to the question I was trying to answer. Really frustrating and I've given up

Spikeinhiscoat · 27/02/2016 13:13

Tried to complete Survey but each time I tried to answer a question, it took me to Q10. Have given up for now.Using mobile site (android phone)

Pipbin · 27/02/2016 13:16

I'm annoyed that they think we would need telling who Tim Berners-Lee is.

He invented the World Wide Web - Yes, the actual WWW.

No idea what he has to do with the EU debate though.

Catchuptv · 28/02/2016 00:33

I've been totally a Euro person but since knowing about the referendum have done a bit of research. I'm now totally convinced we should leave. I'm completely shocked that I've changed my mind about this subject.

Roraima · 28/02/2016 08:11

All done but I fail to see where the actors opinion's can have any effect, except when they call politicians to have some kind of shame!
Maybe Eddie Izzard but the rest ...I find it ...

ThemisA · 28/02/2016 08:19

All done

createbeauty · 28/02/2016 09:25

Done! My household has wanted a referendum for years.

Gilla01 · 28/02/2016 09:43

We need to be told the unbiased facts so that we can decide.

At the moment that seems very unlikely.

I have no trust at all in politicians to give anything but the party line.

MardyBra · 28/02/2016 10:20

I'm waiting to see what Mary and Idris say before I make up my mind.

wobblywindows · 28/02/2016 10:54

This might very well be the first referendum decided not by facts, but by what percentage of the population is swayed by celebrity adverts. David Bowie had it with "And the papers want to know whose shirts you wear..." - btw MNHQ, you forgot to include Cmdr Chris Hadfield.
