Created for Revolut

We’re looking for UK based Mumsnet users with at least one child aged between 6-17 to test Revolut’s Junior account. All eligible testers will receive a 1-year free trial of Revolut’s Premium account as well as £10 free credit. This test is open to new Revolut customers as well as existing Revolut customers without a Junior account.

Testers will be required to:

  • Set up a Revolut account and activate a free year Premium trial using the instructions that we’ll provide, £10 will then be deposited to your Revolut account.

  • Set up one or two Revolut Junior accounts using the link we will share. Follow the Junior onboarding process, order a Junior card and test the Junior account with your child/children over four weeks.

  • Testers will be asked to feed back via a thread on Mumsnet and a short survey.

Please note:

  • If during your free trial period (1 year), you order a physical Premium or Metal card and then cancel your subscription during the free trial period, you must cancel via Mumsnet to avoid a charge for the card.

  • If you haven’t cancelled your subscription at the end of your free trial period (1 year) you will be charged a fee going forward. Full T&Cs here.

If you’re interested in taking part, please sign up here.

All testers who leave their feedback will be entered into a prize draw to win a £100 voucher for a store of their choice (from a list).

Here’s what Revolut has to say:

“Meet next generation finance with Revolut Junior.

Revolut Junior is designed for kids and teens between the ages of 6 and 17 with a focus on teaching them financial skills that will last a life-time. Junior was created by Revolut to enable children to learn money management skills through tailored money tools, a personal account, and a card. It gives kids the freedom to earn, manage and spend money in an environment that's completely controlled by the parent.

Thanks!

Done

Nicolarer · 06/07/2022 15:17

I used to be a massive supporter of Revolut and hoped that would get their UK banking license. Then fraud on my supposedly secure virtual card in the Arab world, I live on the UK. No refund. I am so pissed off I now call them Revolting and am considering reporting to the Financial Ombudsman. They have grown too fast too quickly imo.

GraceEMumsnet · 08/07/2022 15:19

Hi @Nicolarer, Revolut have asked us to pass on their response:

Hi Nicolarer! Sorry to hear about your experience with us and we would like to take a closer look at what happened in your situation exactly to see how we could help. Please contact us via one of our social media profiles such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or via email [email protected] and we will do our best to check this further for you as soon as possible. Thank you in advance! Revolut team.

Thank you Mumsnet @GraceEMumsnet for passing on the response. I will probably try contacting them again, in the next couple of weeks.

Sounds great, done

I have been selected for this trial but the 2 postage options, free, but arriving after the first feedback deadline, or £17.99 to have it at the end of next week has left me £17.98 out of pocket. I also wonder why, even after paying £17.99 for “expedited” delivery, it will still take 8 days to arrive! Is there a way to have this exorbitant postage cost reimbursed?

JudgementalCentipede · 22/07/2022 12:47

Well I've opened the account and selected 'Junior' but there was no option for me to open the account in my sons name rather than mine? And I can't change it.

RunningKatie · 24/07/2022 15:57

I've set up the app on my phone but can't switch into the Junior section on the App, the icon is there but clicking on it did nothing.
Now it's logged me off, when I put my passcode in then nothing happens.
I think I've eventually sorted it, but the junior card won't arrive till 9th August!

warmsuncoldwind · 01/08/2022 19:27

I applied and I was selected, but I do not understand how to cancel the premium account after the first year. Can you explain it to me please?

GraceEMumsnet · 03/08/2022 13:21

Hi @Faunanflora, @JudgementalCentipede, @RunningKatie,@warmsuncoldwind sorry to hear you're having trouble with the test. If you reply directly to the instruction email I can help resolve your issues 😊

This has been resolved as I raised it by responding to the email, thank you for that. However, I still have not received the card for my child. I have received 32 emails from Revolut requesting me to use the account, offering other services and “reminding” me that I have live funds. I feel spammed.

rainbowiris · 08/08/2022 13:56

Another one who has signed up but not received the Junior cards.... I signed up so my kids could use them abroad this holiday rather than their usual bank cards, but even though I signed up weeks ago and initially the cards said they'd be with us before today, when I've checked again this morning they've now said they won't arrive until the 17th August, so they won't be able to take them on holiday after all (we go on 10th August). Feel like it's all been a bit pointless really!

GraceEMumsnet · 08/08/2022 17:02

Hi @rainbowiris , sorry to hear you're having an issue with the test. If you respond directly to the product test email that was sent to you we can ask Revolut to look into the issue for you. Thanks!

Same here, I wanted my son to be able to use it this week but we are now going away and the card has not arrived. We are also still being spammed by Revolut to use the card.

Faunanflora · 15/08/2022 12:09

We have received our card although we have only tried it once and received an error message. I have a few thoughts so far

  1. I understood when I signed up that I also had to set up a current account for myself and I did so. It was very easy to do online and I did not experience any issues. I did not want, or need a new current account however, I just wanted to try this for my son and now have an extra account.
  2. He has an older phone and the Revolut app is too new for him to be able to download it and so he is in the same position as he was previously with regard to spending - he has to ask me how much he has left in his account. We have added the app to his laptop but the laptop version does not have the junior link in the hub. I also have to log on to it using my details meaning that when we were trying it, he could see all of my information.
  3. When adding another parent to the account, the app asked to access all of my contacts rather than me just being able to manually add my husband - this seems very intrusive.
  4. Revolut advertising talks about savings rates but I cannot find a Junior Savings section on the hub.
I will share more thoughts as they occur
GraceEMumsnet · 16/08/2022 09:38

Hi @Faunanflora thanks for your feedback and I'm glad you've received your card! We'll follow up in a few weeks with an email on how to leave your feedback. Thanks!

I'm not part of the trial but I did sign up my ds. It's crap. Poor site navigation, I found somewhere that said I needed to upload ID for him to activate it and now can't find where to upload it. He's fed up because he can't do anything with it. £4.99 to post a bank card out is a joke.
I'm going to delete it and get something else. I wish monzo did a junior account, it's so much better.

JudgementalCentipede · 28/08/2022 22:52

DS lost his card today before really having a chance to use it (he used it once!!) It's too late to order a replacement before the end of the product test. Will this be a problem?

WWYD22 · 19/07/2023 12:04

@GraceEMumsnet hi, I need to cancel my premium card within the next 7 days so I don’t get charged £18. Please can you help?

WWYD22 · 19/07/2023 13:54

Who do I contact please. I’m desperately trying to sort this out so I’m not charged £17.99 in 7 days time

I can't seem to get out of it without being charged £35 to downgrade my account, or being stuck with a £6.99 monthly payment now. Not happy at all 😕

SnarfleThree · 21/07/2023 07:42

Signed up as a business to use their card processing facilities but they were unable to onboard my business as they were too busy.

I won’t be investing with them!

Faunanflora · 21/07/2023 08:29

@GraceEMumsnet I would like to downgrade my Revolut account to regular from premium without being stung with the fee - how do I do this please?

jennymac31 · 21/07/2023 10:55

I found the whole process of setting up really poor so I complained and asked for the account to be closed with no fees applied, which they did.
