Hello

We’re pleased to announce that Julian Clary will be joining us for a webchat on Wednesday 29 July at 1pm.

Julian has recently published The Bolds, his first book for children - packed with wildly hilarious jokes, eccentric characters and brilliant illustrations. The book is perfect for children aged 7+.

Mr and Mrs Bold are just like you and me: they live in a nice house, they have nice jobs and they love to have a bit of a giggle. There's just one slight difference: they're hyenas.
So far, the Bolds have managed to keep things under wraps, even when their children Bobby and Betty were born. But the nosy man next door smells a rat (or a hyena) - is their secret about to be revealed?

Julian has made numerous appearances on TV and on stage, published four books and continues to tour the UK and Australia with his one man shows. He also does panto most years as he enjoys wearing silly clothes and lots of make-up.

Julian on Celebrity Big Brother you came across as a thoroughly nice and decent human being. But being cooped up in close proximity to big personalities there must have been times when your patience was tested. How did you manage to keep your cool and what was the first thing you did once the series was over?

Julian, we were lucky enough to get a copy of this from MN, so thank you very much.

DD is 6 and is half way through and enjoying it immensely. It is her first step away from the endless fairy / magic / puppies books and it is great to hear her chuckle as she reads. Every now and again she will read a bit out to me that she finds particularly funny. I'm glad she does as I'm finding those bits funny too.

The whole scenario of the book is brilliant - very clever and very funny.

Are you planning on writing any more books for this age group? Please say yes!

I still remember you talking about "fisting the chancellor's red box" live on telly - one of my fave TV moments of all time! Was that pre planned or did it just slip out? And how did that affect your career? (I think you were banned from bbc for a while?)

I saw you perform decades ago when you were the Joan Collins Fan Club with Fanny the Wonder Dog. It was upstairs in a fairly grotty London pub. You were brilliant.

Do you miss those days at all?

I saw you in the 'Fanny' days at the Edinburgh Festival. I've also read you're autobiography and really enjoyed your Who Do You Think You Are story. No question, just fawning fan gush. I think you're great!

I've adored you for years! Loved so much of what you've done. I too remember the Joan Collins fan club but I think my favourite 'thing' you've done was sticky moments. Would love you to bring that back.

I admit I am biased (as always a fan of yours) but I was v angry on your behalf when the whole comedy awards incident occurred. The backlash you got, IMVHO, was so disproportionate & over the top, and it saddened me that your career was so badly affected. I'm so glad you are still here, still working & still being fabulously outrageous & funny. Much love to you Smile

Ok, just thought of a question - of all the many things you've done/continue to do, what do you enjoy the most? Stand up/TV/dancing/writing? Or something we don't know about you?

I saw you on stage a very long time ago in N'ton. My dad refused to speak to me and my sister for weeks afterwards because he's a bigotted twat Angry, anyway, i digress Wink

before i broke my twitter access (passwords are for keep, yeah?) i loved your garden pictures, do you still take them? if so, what do you use and would you consider putting them into a book too?

Hi Julian I think you are so brilliantly funny and also so darn good looking Wink:Wink I remember the Fanny the wonder dog years so well. My question is, did your dogs inspire you to write the story for kids? as mine has given me the inspiration to start writing my own series... oh ok... the first of hopefully a series of kids books. Embarrassed:Blush I just need the kick up the bum to do something about it.

Hello Julian, I saw you as JC fan club back in the 80s, doing something quite funny with an umbrella and a briefcase. It was at Avery Hill College with about 6 of us in the audience. It was funny but what gave you the confidence to keep going and have faith in your act? Or did you just know that some gigs were going to be dire?
