On the week that TV's most hot-contested baking challenge reaches its climax, we're thrilled that Paul Hollywood is returning to Mumsnet Towers. Paul last joined us back in February 2013 when he gave us his tips on bread-making. This Friday between 10 and 11am he will be on hand to help out with all your baking conundrums and of course give us the inside story on this year's GBBO.

Paul's latest book Paul Hollywood's British Baking is published this week and everyone who joins the webchat will be entered into a draw to win a SIGNED copy. If you're unable to join Paul on Friday morning, post a question in advance on this thread.

I think he enjoyed Nancy putting him in his place

MissMole · 10/10/2014 10:58

Fast action, though, erm, it was out of date.

TheCunkOfPhilomena · 10/10/2014 10:59

Yup, I think you have the makings of a MNer Paul. Get your thinking cap on for your nick name. Maybe you could find inspiration from this webchat?

BreastTester?

RainbowCake · 10/10/2014 10:59

Hi Paul,
I don't have a proving drawer ( who does? And how can I get one?!) I also don't have an airing cupboard. So what would be the best way to prove dough?
Do I just need to put the heating on and hope for the best?

Oh and my 9 yr old Ds loves the show and can now be found quite often covered in flour Smile

CaptainFatpants · 10/10/2014 11:00

I wonder what that could be Philomena. :o

MrsVamos · 10/10/2014 11:01

Yy,Captain

Certainly one of the more memorable webchats, for all the right reasons !

Thank you, Paul.

Please could you convince Mary and Mel and Sue to pop by ?

Thanks to SophieBMumsnet too.

Or would Wine be better ? Smile

TheCunkOfPhilomena · 10/10/2014 11:01

Mel and Sue would be amazing.

Please MNHQ!

MissMole · 10/10/2014 11:05

Cunk I saw that recipe online but it was prefaced by a quote from her book which expressed her disdain for doughnuts. I used Pauls recipe.

Anyway next I'm going to try cake doughnuts as I reckon that's closer to the fairground ones I love. Homer type drool, doughnuts!

MrsHathaway · 10/10/2014 11:11

That was fab apart from the "breast test". Concise answers quickly typed, getting through loads of questions. Better than when they arrive late and only answer the three easy questions that most easily plug their latest project!!

Milk chocolate digestive, though. I ask you.

mausmaus · 10/10/2014 11:19

rainbow I usually use the microwave oven.
draft free and out of the way. for warmth you can ad a cup of hot water.
or use the oven with the light on for warmth.

jonicomelately · 10/10/2014 11:40

A book you say slithy ?
I didn't notice Wink

RainbowCake · 10/10/2014 11:44

Thank you mausmaus, I would have never have thought of the microwave.
I tried to post my Q earlier from phone and it just wouldn't have it until it had closed.

RachelMumsnet · 10/10/2014 11:47

Thanks to everyone who joined the webchat today. Make sure you're following @mumsnetbookclub as we're about to run a twitter comp to win a signed copy of British Baking

FoxSticks · 10/10/2014 12:47

Why are my questions never answered, sob!!! I thought it was a good one too Sad

I thought the competition was for those who joined in the webchat? Is the Twitter one separate?

Chimpola · 10/10/2014 13:16

Only just remembered about this, posted my question last night. I am so excited that HE ACTUALLY ANSWERED MY QUESTION Grin ! So in fact, Paul Hollywood has spoken to me

TheSameBoat · 10/10/2014 13:29
