My husband’s long and arduous weekend. Handholds needed for him

Just a quick post, while our dinner cooks. My husband has had such a long and trying weekend. Let me know if you have any messages of support that you would like me to pass along.

He’s been on a 48 hour stag do bender. It’s been particularly tough on him because he’s 42 years old and has high blood pressure. God bless him.

There have been pub crawls, smoked meat cookouts, distillery tours where they tasted 25 different spirits, poker games and much more. And my husband has pushed through like an absolute saint. He didn’t go to bed until after 4am on both nights and has even lost his poor little voice from all the karaoke. He did 2 Cher songs! Wow!

I’ve had an easy weekend of it, in the homestead. Looking after 3 kids and getting all the washing done after our family holiday. Had a full day of work on Friday. Caught up on some DIY in the evenings too. General relaxation.

Which is why, when my husband arrived home this afternoon at 4.45pm and said he would be going up to bed for nap, I was happy to do the kids dinner and bedtime on my own.

The poor soul. Please keep him in your prayers and thoughts.

Please, for the love of all that is holy, let the aubergine 🍆 don a cape!

PamDoooove · 16/04/2023 21:54

Goodness me. Your DH must feel absolutely upheld in the deluge of warm thoughts offered towards him. I had similar for my DH today, who bravely endured a child free morning after not sleeping well following a beer and curry birthday binge. So arduous was it that the poor fella just had to have a nap that coincided with me arriving back after a ridiculously relaxing morning spent two DC hepped up on sugar at a 'fun day'. Such a hero.

Merryoldgoat · 16/04/2023 21:57

My DH mowed the lawn today and after a long bath managed to tell our 10yo to have a shower. He mustered up the strength to empty a laundry basket down the stairs for me to start a wash too.

Maybe we could put them all in touch with each other and they could start a support group?

DS same age did this long weekend in Lisbon. Tuesday morning his dad had to take him to hospital. He was so ill. They put him on a drip. They're still daft at that age. 😂😂

Quick update: he’s not dead.

I do detect that there is a word missing from the end of your update - "....yet".

QueenSmartypants · 16/04/2023 21:58

You'll Never Walk Alone would be a suitably sympathetic song and ideally suited for your daughters singing voice I think.

Dp did phone me today to let me know that the keys I alerted to him yesterday as being here, where I could see them, were in fact not with him. I applaud his consideration in this matter, he is truly a Prince amongst men.

Dunnoburt · 16/04/2023 22:04

🤣 love this! 👌

PictureConsequences · 16/04/2023 22:09

We do have much to learn from these mighty creatures. This is lesser but mine put in an exhausting stint, feeding DS a crisp sandwich and watching Andor with him, whilst I took DD to the eye hospital. Knocks my effort at parenting out of the park.

TolkienLover · 16/04/2023 22:21

Hahahahahahaha. This has made my WEEK.

Soproudoflionesses · 16/04/2023 22:23

Sending hugs to him op!!

itsnotyourfence · 16/04/2023 22:25

🙏🙏

op is there a go fund me I can donate to?
To support his recovery?

Hesma · 16/04/2023 22:25

Make sure you mollycoddle him more than ever over the coming weeks @CalpolDependant, the poor wee lamb will need to build his strength up for the actual wedding.

MegaClutterSlut · 16/04/2023 22:28

Your dh is a legend and deserves a blow job daily for the next week at least for all the sacrifices he's made this weekend whilst you sat on your arse looking after the dcs. Your poor dh, I hope he finds a better wife. Will keep him in my prayers tonight, hopefully he makes a full recovery. Have you at least set up a Gofundme for all his pain and suffering? bless him ❤

I expect you've popped out to look at the front wall of your house to decide where the blue plaque will go OP? I know I would.

Loving this thread 😂

Sunnysunbun · 16/04/2023 22:32

I can't believe a lazy moo like you is married to a saint like him.

nerysw · 16/04/2023 22:33

Have I missed the 'Fuck Off To The Far Side of Fuck and then Fuck Off Some More?

AppleDumplingWithCustard · 16/04/2023 22:40

He won’t be properly rested if he has to keep getting up for a wee so I’m volunteering my nursing skills to come round and pop a catheter up his willy. Only trouble is I can’t seem to find any anaesthetic gel. Oh well, needs must.

Apocalyptichorsewoman · 16/04/2023 22:50

He's a real keeper - what a star!
Perhaps whilst he sleeps, he might benefit from a face massage with a pillow - I believe a quite robust approach has the greatest therapeutic benefit...

tailinthejam · 16/04/2023 22:50

I got home from my weekend away at least 5 hours ago, and DH still hasn't taken my (very small) suitcase upstairs for me like I asked him to. He managed to cook a roast dinner for me, and then spend two hours playing his guitar, so he's had plenty of time to do it.He's now in the bath. Honestly, what's the world coming to?

WoollyRosebud · 16/04/2023 22:53

CalpolDependant · 16/04/2023 19:29

I know it’s a lot to ask of him right now, but I so want to jump his bones. I don’t think I’ve ever found him sexier.

Wait until he’s got his chosen DGOD on, he’ll be irresistible then

Dontcareforthehaters · 16/04/2023 22:53

Poor little lamb, I can't imagine how he's finding the strength within himself to push through at this difficult and challenging time.

2bazookas · 16/04/2023 22:56

Clearly a case for A and E, Arse and Exit.

Lollypop701 · 16/04/2023 23:02

I truly hope his recovery will be aided by an inspiring rendition of wheels on the bus tomorrow at 6am from his little bundles of joy … lots of verses to truly show him the love with the absolute must of pan lids cymbals, an actual horn for the beep beep beep and the youngest giving a truly loud impression of the baby on the bus going wah wah wah. I just know this will bring him round to face Monday with aplomb!

Wineat5isfine · 16/04/2023 23:06

Sorry for the delayed reply…I’ve quite literally spent hours and hours looking for sympathy. But I just cannot fucking find any at all 🙄🤣
