The worst cases of oversharing you’ve seen on social media (lighthearted)

In my case a friend of mine took a picture of a bunch of tissues on her bedside table and posted it onto FB with the caption ‘The sign of a good night. I’m shagged’.

Also on Facebook - guy posts a picture of his back, covers in scratches with the caption ‘no wonder she’s pregnant’

LOVING this thread 🤣
I one sense of the word, it does mean that obviously. But we both know the context I used in the post I first used the term 'employer'. If you have a cleaner you're a paying customer, not their employer to be clear.
She didn't say she was an employer, she said she employs them. Which she does. You didn't understand the first post the pp made and you';re just digging the hole deeper now.

Goldielockdown2 · 13/05/2021 19:18

I think you're the one who didn't understand may because I'm the poster who first mentioned it. I know exactly what I wrote and therefore understand it 😂

Clearly, you're being distracted by that enormous chip on your shoulder. I employ a cleaner and pay her for her services. Infact, I go one step further and she has a simple contract, and I pay her holiday pay too. I could argue that I am also her employer, but as you have demonstrated that you're not very good at thinking, I think I would only confuse you further.

Goldielockdown2 · 13/05/2021 19:24

Let's not be obtuse, peace. It's painfully obvious I was talking about and continue to talk about people who word being a cleaner's customer, as if the cleaner is their employee. Now unless you sort the payroll, tax etc for your cleaner then you are not their employer as in boss and they are not your employee. Hope that clarifies, as if you didn't already know. Dearie me.
Dust that chip off your shoulder, or have your cleaner do it lol. Why would I have a chip on my shoulder when I've already said that I don't care what anyone does with their money? Don't personalise things which don't apply to you 🤷‍♀️

Zancah · 13/05/2021 19:37

I had an old friend who seemed to always be on holiday. I mean, I'm not usually the most observant but I'd noticed this couple were always going somewhere (their child was not at school at that time) and she uploaded picture after picture of each and every one. Her timeline was packed. It started to rankle on me a little, even a regular Tuesday was "Date Day" and we'd be treated to at least six photos of the occasion.

It all became clear the day she announced he'd died of cancer - after a long battle. They were getting all the trips in because they knew his days were numbered. She occasionally shares them now via the Memories function. I don't begrudge her sharing this time around. He was very young Sad

Actuall you don't seem to. You were all "oh they;'re so stupid, they think that by paying for services they are employing someone" ha ha.

And they are. So, yeah, egg on your face right now.

And yet you are writing so very many posts about it, so clearly you do care. Inverse snobbery, yes?

Ah that’s sad. You don’t know about what someone could be going through.
Goldielockdown2 · 13/05/2021 19:59

Coldswimmer there is no egg on my face. I'm so sorry about your reading comprehension/need to be obtuse online/whatever your problem is.

Just replying to people, Peaceandlove. I'll not be told I'm not very good at thinking or whatever else and just meekly close the thread 😂
All very boring for others to read though...so I'll make like your username :)

I did say the thread was supposed to be lighthearted 😬😬😬

itstrueimnotlying · 14/05/2021 02:55

Jesus what's with the pile on on Goldie. She hardly said anything offensive. You lot need a bloody drink.

frugalkitty · 14/05/2021 07:59

One of my friends does the body shop thing which was ok at first as she only really posted in the group chat, but now she doubles up on her own page so we see everything twice, plus she's doing that thing of 'so glad I've got my BS wages to buy DD new trainers' etc etc which really irritates me even though I know they get told to do that kind of thing. But still, it's annoying.

Anon778833 · 14/05/2021 08:36

Oh I agree. Any kind of multi level marketing is annoying. Because it's no more than a Ponzi scheme for most people.

OP posts:
DeusEx · 14/05/2021 08:37

Is body shop an MLM?!

MotherOfGodWeeFella · 14/05/2021 08:39

Body Shop at Home is. They've been doing it for years.

YellowEllis · 14/05/2021 09:10

This thread reminded me of something I saw on Facebook last year, someone I know had taken a screenshot of a piece of furniture she wanted and posted it on Facebook asking if anyone locally was selling it. Totally innocent right, except at the exact second she had screenshot she also had a Mumsnet notification at the top of the screen that for anyone nosey enough to search like me could easily find her multiple threads about her affair. The photo was deleted within an hour and the MN threads went silent after that.

Is Body shop at home different to normal body shop? I only ask because my friend sells Body Shop and she only earns a percentage of everything she sells to spend in the body shop catalogue? So there's no way she'd be buying kids shoes with her "earnings". 🤔
dragoncena · 14/05/2021 09:48

A fb friend put up a question on her status "just sitting here wondering what hand everyone uses to wipe themselves after going to the toilet. I'm left handed but just realized I use my right hand lol". Confused
As if that wasn't weird enough lots of people were responding seriously. One of the comments was:

"left hand for muff, right hand for arse".

coldswimmer88 · 14/05/2021 10:02

@itstrueimnotlying

Goldie couldn't comprehend the difference between the words employ and employer, misread another posters comments and was epically rude, and then carried on even when it was obvious they hadn't understood. No pile on, just deserved scorn.
GravityFalls · 14/05/2021 10:12

I know this is mean but...sporty kids. I don't mean the odd "Man of the match" or "got into X Academy posts", it's the "Ben loves sports! He does a sport! He does another sport! He saw a sport person! We went to a sport match! Ben wears shorts all the time because he LOVES SPORTS! Can't get him out of his sport kit because he LOVES SPORTS! OMG THIS KID LOVES SPORT SO MUCH!"

Every. Single. Day.

It's not a substitute for a personality you know...

Goldielockdown2 · 14/05/2021 11:01

Thank you itstrue Thanks
I've been around long enough to know pile ons happen and it's usually when people feel emboldened by others on threads as innocuous as this one! The upside is that it's all laid bare for everyone to read for themselves, and likewise all the silliness and pretend misconstruing of said posts.

Forgetmenot82 · 14/05/2021 11:24

@DaisyDreaming

Oh and anyone who sells Scentsy. Someone I know even posted a picture of her kissing a scentsy cleaning product and is always sharing pictures of patronising certificates like a primary school kid with star of the week
It's sooooo expensive...
Talkwhilstyouwalk · 14/05/2021 21:58

@DaisyDreaming whoops, I shared a picture of my dd the first time she got star of the week, I was so proud even though we all know that the whole class will get it at some point.....won't commit this faux pas again Blush

Come to think of it, she's not had star of the week for ages, might have to have a word with the teacher Wink
