A plea for help in finding this Maileg Mouse!

I can't bear it any longer!
DD7 lost her dear, much loved Maileg Mouse on our camping trip last year in France. She broke her heart and even tonight, we had some tears (she's also tired and strung out with tonsillitis, so very much run down). I've attempted many times to find a replacement online but no luck. They do still sell them, but with varying themes and styles.

DD's mouse looks very much like this one, but a browny mouse with brown/faun clothes instead of pink. I've searched everywhere and my only hope really is ebay so I keep checking. The other hope is that someone out there has one that's sitting and not really adored, and is willing to sell it to me!

OMG this needs to be a film, and yes I know it is a zombie but I've been sent here from a recent thread.

For once i'm thankful someone revived a zombie thread. This was such a lovely feel good thread, and i'm so pleased I had a chance to read it. 🥰

Thank you for the updates OP, and Faye for finding Matilda mouse and finally thank you to all the lovely posters who sent postcards. It's a magical thread who really shows the very best of MN.

I know, I loved it so much i had to share the link on the other thread and also post on the 'zombie' thread. And such an amazing surprise to see the 2021 update.

Sashh you are right, it would be a gorgeous short animated film, wouldn't it?

Another one who saw the mention on a recent thread!

I have to say, I’m hard as nails and not child-friendly…And I’m sobbing like a lunatic!

Such a lovely story. And such lovely people trying to help. We could all use a bit more magic - glad your little girl got such a big sprinkle.

Saw this linked on the recent “favourite posts/threads” thread. Meh, I thought, how emotional can a post about a toy mouse be?

<opens fresh box of tissue blindly though tears>

Turns out, bloody very. <sniff>

Oh me too. There is now a soggy patch on my pillow from all the tears. God knows what DP will think when he comes to bed. Such a beautiful thread

Gorgeous. I’m in tears, and laughing at the neighbour knocking over the milk bottles at the crucial moment.
What a beautiful thread. The best x

Oh wow. My little girl is the same age as OP's DD was when this thread started and I just can imagine every emotion. I'm sat looking at DD sleeping and wanting to give her a big hug as she clutches her 'Uni The Unicorn' who is loved just as much as Maileg Mouse. So much so that she's not allowed out of the house or wherever we're staying if we're on holiday. I'm even considering sewing an AirTag inside her! Smile

Beautiful, just beautiful. I'm so glad your DD still has the Mouse. 🐭

Having found this beautiful thread from a post about best ever threads, I also did a bit of detective work and found this link which I don't think has been shared here. Lovely stuff! thechiccountryhomediary.blogspot.com/2013/04/a-lost-mouse.html

It was shared on the thread, by Faye herself (aka Fabia I think?) - she was the source of the magical replacement mouse ❤️
It is such a lovely story, I’m amazed I’d never seen or read it before it was linked today! (I do remember a similar lovely story about a lost strawberry toy)
