to make a little sign for this woman?

I have ranted on a previous occasion about the morning rat-run through our village so very quick summary:

Single track roads - short-cut to city - I am apparently only person who needs to go opposite direction during rush-hour - majority of people coming the other way clearly think I am unreasonable for driving through my own village and glare and head-shake at me - I am cross.

Obviously it is the holidays now, so the school run traffic is missing which makes life much easier. However, there is one woman who I see every single time. She drives very fast on a narrow, twisty road with several blind bends so I finish up crawling around corners in case she comes hurtling the other way. She flatly refuses to back up even a couple of feet to the nearest passing space, and she makes no attempt to move over so that both cars can pass without scraping through the hedge. So I finish up reversing to the next passing space with her driving about 6 inches off my front bumper with a face like thunder, and then as soon as the road widens at all, she squeezes past, glaring at me all the time and shaking her head.

Bearing in mind the following:

  1. I live here and have as much right to leave the village as she does to cut through it.

  2. I drive a very small car which causes minimal obstruction.

  3. I don't drive dangerously fast.

  4. I am the one reversing and getting off the road.

would I be unreasonable to make a little sign saying "The next time you shake your head at me will be the last time I reverse for you. I can sit here all day - how about you?"

Would probably be unreasonable to add "cowbag" at the end, I suppose.

Not only should you read a book, you should borrow a copy of War And Peace from the library. Get a large print version so the title is clearly visible to her.

Marking my spot Grin

Another reason Panda can't reverse is that she'll have me behind her, and I can't reverse for toffee. Well I can and do, but will resist since being forced to do so once by a wanker when it was MY fucking turn and scraping my alloys.

No wanker will ever jeopardise my alloys again.

So want to be a member of a zombie flask mob but as I live in Scotland and have work in the morning it looks like I will have to be a flask wielding zombie elsewhere.

Ok so the sole purpose of this post was to mark my place - like that wasn't already obvious!

Curiousmama · 17/04/2011 20:36

Ooo what did I miss? Are there reinforcements?Grin

QuietTiger · 17/04/2011 21:02

Silage can be arranged and my DH has also offered his slurry tanker!

blondebutonlyfaking · 17/04/2011 21:04

QT - could you arrange for the bung on the end of the tanker to be "accidentally" opened at an appropriate time?

WickedWitchSouthWest · 17/04/2011 21:06

Marking. I really need to know what happens tomorrow!

geraldinetheluckygoat · 17/04/2011 21:07

So what's the plan then, Kungfu? ARe you really going to make a sign?

(oh god, please let her say yes!!!)

TandB · 17/04/2011 22:34

Sorry to disappoint everyone but tomorrow is not The Day!
I work in London 3 days each week so I only do the nursery run on Thursdays and Fridays so it will be Thursday before I meet her again.

This is why it has taken me a while to rant about this woman - it was a few weeks before I was sure it was actually her I was meeting every time!

Marking my place and joining the virtual convoy. A right-hand drive makes reversing down country lanes a tad tricky too although I can if I want to.

Grockle · 18/04/2011 06:56

Oh, we have to wait!

ChildofIsis · 18/04/2011 07:15

My DH has a very large pickup truck that's a bugger to get past on country lanes.

Would you like to borrow it?

People always give way to it, even when we're obviously reversing for them to get past.

PinkFondantFancy · 18/04/2011 07:31

Oooh marking my place ready for Thursday!

goingroundthebend4 · 18/04/2011 07:45

Ooo can I add other thing that annoys me is cars parked over driveway while waiting for level crossing to open .Bearing in mine my driveways shared with a garage and a breakdown company .I did have the delight of last year watching someone from breakdown company get out hid truch and ask them to move .

When they refused he backed up turned truck round reveresrd backwards ann then asked them to move or would he like him to help move the car with his truck.I watched enjoyed every second of it

but while the m11 junction a mess our lane has become cut through and am fed up shoving dd into hedges while we walk to school as cars/lorries!!! cut through including one big enough that took out the power cables

GwendolineMaryLacey · 18/04/2011 07:48

Ooh ooh I was going to ask about horses and music. I always turn my (sometimes a bit loud) music down when slowly passing a horse. Do they care or am I being a prat?
