MNHQ here: write to your MP about buffer zones around abortion clinics - Parliamentary vote on Tuesday!

Hi there,

We know that many of you strongly support the introduction of buffer zones outside abortion clinics in order to prevent women from enduring harassment or abuse as they access healthcare services.

BPAS are currently coordinating a cross-party amendment (NC11) to the Public Order Bill, which would introduce areas around abortion clinics and hospitals where the intimidation or harassment of people accessing or providing abortion services would be an offence.

The amendment will come to the House of Commons on Tuesday, and given that its likely to be a free vote (meaning MPs aren't instructed by their parties as to which way to vote) we're asking for your help to make sure they understand the strength of feeling on this issue. Please use this BPAS campaign tool to contact your MP as soon as possible and express your support, and then - if you're on Twitter - Tweet and tag your MP (and @MumsnetTowers!).

We know the efforts of Mumsnet users were absolutely vital in the campaign to retain telemedical abortion and we're hoping we can have the same effect this time.

Thanks!
MNHQ

Great campaign.

With writing to my pump would make a difference but it won't.

Good luck though!

Mp not pump 😂

Hi all,

We're bumping this to let you know that the amendment has been selected and there will definitely be a vote this afternoon - so if you haven't already contacted your MP now is the time!

Thanks,
MNHQ

Thanks to everyone who took the time to contact their MP - as you might have seen, the amendment passed yesterday!
