Stop the Abolition of DLA

Glitterknickaz · 16/01/2011 13:19

The government are proposing to get rid of DLA in favour of PIP. full consultation here

Riven started a fantastic thread in Chat with the very pertinent point that this applies to everyone, that every one of us could be just one step from disability themselves.

There is NOTHING in the media about this. These proposals could mean poverty for the disabled and their families in this country. It could leave some in residential care completely isolated from their families and support networks through the removal of the mobility component.

My family has already been hit three times through the NHS, education and aiming high, via the cuts, if they now remove the money from our pockets we are going to be in a heat or eat situation.

Please MNHQ do something, as many are oblivious to these proposals and what they will mean, including those who themselves already claim DLA.

So for those of us for whome practical protest in term of marching is out is there any mileage in my idea of every carer we can get filling in a timesheet for one week and all of us, in hopefully huge numbers, posting to our MP, IDS and the consultation addy?

It's need a big campiagn backing it though like the broken one. Otherwise I will just get another letter from going oh poor you from my MP Hmm

coppertop · 25/01/2011 12:14

Thankyou MmeLindt.

Very much appreciated.

coppertop · 25/01/2011 12:15

Forgot to reply to Peachy!

I like the timesheet idea.

Our MP is a Conservative so I'm not expecting much practical help there tbh.

ThisIsANiceCage · 25/01/2011 12:16

Thank you MmeLindt.

Like that idea, Peachy.

ThisIsANiceCage · 25/01/2011 12:18

Ooh MmeLindt you write well! Smile

Rhydian · 25/01/2011 12:20

MissQue

Thanks. My own MP table the Early Day Motion at my request]], so I hope everyone will e-mail their own MP asking them to support it.

Peachy

It's a good idea. Mind if I steal it (with credit to you of course? Feel free to mail at [email protected]

Rhydian · 25/01/2011 12:23

MmeLindt

Good blog!

MmeLindt · 25/01/2011 12:27

Thanks, Thisisanicecage.

I have added the EDM link to my blog.

Posie
Should I add something about the Valentines Cards?

coppertop · 25/01/2011 12:46

I have a possibly stupid question. I've read the EDM, followed the link through to find my MP's e-mail address and discovered that there are two e-mail addresses listed. One is for Westminster and one for constituency. Which one should I use? Blush

MissQue · 25/01/2011 13:06

I emailed my MP this morning and I've just got a reply saying that he has signed it Smile Thank you Alex Cunningham MP!

Rhydian · 25/01/2011 13:12

copperto

Not stupid at all. I'd go for the Westminster one. The constituency one means that it goes to the constituency office.

Basically, one is for constituency work, one for work in Parliament.

MissQue · 25/01/2011 13:14

Good blog post Mme Smile

latrucha · 25/01/2011 13:19

Just posting to show my support. Petition signed.

hey, aparently anything goes here!

BillBarton · 25/01/2011 13:29

btw it not about like or dislike, more an aversion to double standards, misrepresenting facts, directing energies effectivly.....

MmeLindt · 25/01/2011 13:32

BillBarton
Why are you here? If you have a question that is actually pertinent to the issue, please state it. Or tell us why exactly you oppose this campaign. As it is, you just look like a fool.

I have reported your spam post.

coppertop · 25/01/2011 13:34

Thanks for the help.

I've e-mailed using the Westminster address.

BillBarton · 25/01/2011 13:48

bit sensative that i have pointed out harasing staff at ATOS is beyond funny are we?

Rhydian · 25/01/2011 13:48

BillBarton

Read this deconstruction of the Government's case for reform of Disability Living Allowance. Then return here and tell me what I have misrepresented, and why the flawed arguments and lies the Government has presented is actually peaches and cream?

Do that and we may take you seriously.

BillBarton · 25/01/2011 13:50

my spam, lol, this forum has become the place for people to post whatever, i made some pertenant points a while ago but suffered personal attaks in response, refused to lower myself to the same and now, just going with the flow, remember you have the option to ignor me.....

BillBarton · 25/01/2011 13:52

K, i will have read, believe it or not i am interested in your cause, and i didn't say you have misrepresented anything, not going to go over the he said she said thing again.

MmeLindt · 25/01/2011 13:53

Linking to a weightloss website is spam, is it not?

I didn't like the spoof call, but then I am not a fan of things like that. It is not the fault of those in the call centre.

It does not mean that the actual campaign is not worthy.

coppertop · 25/01/2011 14:01

Agree with MmeLindt.

I don't have the time, energy or inclination for spoof calls but neither do I have the time to read spam or pettiness.

Opinions are fine but I really don't see what the rest of it has to do with a campaign to stop the abolition of DLA.

BillBarton · 25/01/2011 14:01

i actualy believe it the fault of society, not SS staff, ATOS staff, the government.......let me expxlain.

i look after an elderly lady over the road who is disabled and lives on her own. nothing massive, a weekly shop, play cards with her to keep her brain and arthritic hands working as best as the can, shovel snow, tend the garden....I don't get money from her or the government for it, it is just the right thing to do. i hope she gets as much as she can out of the government but know that between me, her and the walls it realy doesn't matter because we will find a way for her to be happy and safe, you get me?
