Hi everyone, sorry to butt in, but I just found out about this thread.

I'm 16 wks preg w twins, due in June, on the same antenatal thread as MonkeyMargot.

Got a 3 yo dd, dh currently working abroad, me trying to work fulltime, fun fun fun

Just thought I might be able to pick your collective brains for words of wisdom over the next few mths, goodness knows I'm getting enough unsolicited advice, so I could do with some from people actually in the know!!

shabbapinkfrog · 12/01/2010 22:34

Dont cancel Trips - can H not swim with a tshirt and swim shorts on? I hate holiday insurance - such a rip off!!!

The Trips birthday? I reckon you sit them down and discuss it - lay your cards on the table and your budget - however small. Kind of a family meeting. This July Tom will become a teenager! He would love to go to a live concert or a Man City match. No football at the end of July and a concert is out of the piggin' question! He quite fancys my idea of the 3 of us going for an Indian meal - he has never been to a really posh restaurant - but he lurvvvvvvves Madras curry so maybe we will do that.

shabbapinkfrog · 12/01/2010 22:37

Hiya play - welcome to the loony bin multiples thread. Congratulations!! No matter what any of them on here tell you I am very posh, dont drink or smoke and never act the fool Glad you found us xxx

playftseforme · 12/01/2010 22:45

Thanks Shabs

MarsLady · 13/01/2010 00:12

Welcome play! We love newbies. Shabbs can never eat a whole one though.

piximonkeyingaround · 13/01/2010 00:40

Welcome play join the mad house. I used to be a posh respectable type, but 5dcs have left me with few marbles, a huge tummy and backside and an addiction to this thread. My dts were 3 recently, I found the girls on this thread when pg with dts when I was in a complete state, also had a husband that worked away, 2 other dcs (now 3 others) etc and they propped me up during the rough times, assured me it'd be ok and actually it was.

Mars I realised after I'd left yours that I'd shoved some clothes for my chubby friend in with bits for you to look at. Hope I didn't offend you with such mahoosive offerings. Hope you found a home for it all. Wish I'd had longer with you. You must visit!

No advice Trips but hope things pick up soon. x

piximonkeyingaround · 13/01/2010 00:42

HM how's the essay progressing? I got fed up with mine and submitted it. Bit annoying that OU has changed the time of submission to lunchtime, I forgot I didn't have tomorrow evening (which is now this evening - Weds) to finish off, but a weight has lifted. I can now start catching up with the next one.

shabbapinkfrog · 13/01/2010 06:47

Morning girls xx

tkband3 · 13/01/2010 08:39

Morning everyone. Blooming school's closed again . It's not really their fault - it's a huge site on a hill, so if they can't get the grit, it is dangerous for everyone. Enfield council's got hardly any grit left apparently - although they managed to grit the pavement on one side of our road yesterday .

Anyway, DT2 is devastated again - crying because she wants to go to school to see her friends. I may join her . Had no major plans today, beyond clearing out the dining room cupboards, so nothing that can't wait, but 3 days back at school out of a possible 6 is not enough to recharge my batteries after the holidays .

Oh and I weighed in yesterday - I lost 2.5lbs .

Welcome to play and all the other new mums-to-multiples--to-be . Monkey, both me and Mars are in North London, so not exactly round the corner, but local-ish! My DD was 20 months when my DTs arrived - the first few months are a bit of a blur to be honest, but they are all great friends now and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Right, off to make a plan to occupy the girls today - I feel some baking coming on .

largeginandtonic · 13/01/2010 10:08

Tk! Glad to see you

Mine are all back at school now,i sympathise with you. Tis hard work, they just got so bored!

Pixi what OU are you doing? How the hell do you find the time?

Welcome Play, the others are all mad i am perfectly sane. My dts are 12 this year, i had id boys.

Trips i second what Shabbs said about the birthday treat. Sit them down and lay it on the line. They should be ridiculously excited about the Florida trip.

What does H think about the Florida trip now? Is he still keen? What a bugger about the app moving

Marsy

frumpygrumpy · 13/01/2010 10:51

Hola gringos

Still in the ditch but still fighting. Old dog still has life.

Met with DTs teacher this morning and I could have written the script myself.
Am getting a cold
Thinking of getting DD1 a hamster for her birthday next week. Advice welcome!
DD1 being bullied again.
DT2 going into hospital on Tuesday for an op. Called the ward for some info and came off the phone terrified. Sounds much bigger op than I was led to believe (but its still not a big op, I'm just being overly anxious but, hey, I'm GOOD at that )
Its snowing again
I am now officially fat. My underwear is leaving a groove. Looks like the Great Wall.

there, lets make these trendy again

LG&T, do you live in a shoe?

starshaker · 13/01/2010 11:00

hey not been about much due to wanting to eat and throw up. and when im not doing that im asleep lol so keeping busy. Got my first midwife appointment today so that will be good. should find out how my care is going to work.

frumpygrumpy · 13/01/2010 11:01

Trips, take the insurance concern to the wider MN audience.........someone must have done this before. You are bound to be able to pay for a separate insurance for him. It will be expensive but worth the peace of mind given your worry and should be a short term cover. Don't cancel. You need the holiday and it will be healing for the entire family!

I'd sit the boys and DD down and chat it over. Explain your feelings and hear theirs. You can't always do everything. And the flicks are so expensive. Is there anything else locally? What about one of those climbing wall places? You could take your own food. Just an idea that might be cheaper that the pictures. And definitely only one friend each.

Did you get Becca that curler thing? I got one for my DD1 from Boots and its brilliant. Only £20.

frumpygrumpy · 13/01/2010 11:06

trips
climbing wall looks expensive for an official 'party' but might not be if you just go for an hours climb and eat before or after. Get some coloured paper bags and fill with your gorgeous home baking..........

HarrogateMum · 13/01/2010 11:12

wow lots of posts! Morning all..I am home again with DT1 who had nasty diarrhoea this morning, plus my car wont start as DH left the internal lights on over the weekend, and where is he? In London and Paris all week adn the same next week and probably the week after that. I dont have time for a bloody job! Just waiting for garage to come and jump start me (ooer) so me and DT1 can get out for provisions!

Welcome to playftseforme, you've come to the right place for advice, hugs, laughs, drinks and more!

Tis very icy here today, walking down to school we all fell over as the road is like a skating rink (forget the pavements they are piled high with snow still whre people have dug out their cars) - see my Facebook for pics!

Pixi - I have done a rough outline and thats it...I will get worried about it on Saturday and persuade DH to take the kids out and have a crack at it then. It doesnt have to be in for about 10 days so there is still time~!

Trips thats a bugger about the op and the holidays, I hate insurance companies too, they wont give DH health insurance for some reason and he is one of the healthiest people I know, set of b*ards!

FG - helloooooo, have I missed something - what op does your DT2 have to have? And dont worry about the kaftans, they are always in!

HarrogateMum · 13/01/2010 13:58

am I the thread killer or something?

shabbapinkfrog · 13/01/2010 14:03

LOL -

tkband3 · 13/01/2010 14:05

No HM, I'm here!

Have found out that our school is the only one closed in the whole borough . They'd better blimmin open tomorrow!

We made chocolate chip cookies, which the girls don't seem to like very much, but which (unfortunately) I do.

(Momma, a friend gave me a fab new cookery book called The Gluten Free Cookbook for Kids - have only made gingerbread men and the afore-mentioned choc chip cookies so far, but both have been a resounding success...perfect texture, no odd ingredients required. Highly recommend it .)

So, the girls don't want to play a game - they're quite happy playing on their own - and I'm bored . Maybe I'll clear out the cupboards which I'd planned to do today. Or maybe I'll just keep on lurking on AIBU and laughing .

largeginandtonic · 13/01/2010 14:10

Kaftans are IN. As long as oyu wear a bikin underneath

FG is this the willy op? Poor lad. I am sure it will all be fine. Rescue remedy for him and you!

I do live in a shoe FG, a big one. Ugg boot style with many levels.

HM my car wouldn't start today either for the same reason! Gah! My dh is away till Saturday. Bugger, bugger, bugger.

Starshaker poor you with the sickness,it is dreadful. I used to hide and eat tiny portions often. Everything was too much trouble and i would fall asleep at the drop of a hat. Power through and eat sweeties they always used to perk me up and stave off the sickness a bit.

Have just been out for a lunch with the girls. One due in 2 weeks, she has a 18mth old. Another had 1 of her's a just weaning baby, another with a stroppy 3 year old and me with Bluebell (angel) and Beau (nightmare). I am not sure it was worth the agro... Nice to have a change of scene though after a week of 4 walls.

Why are children such hard work?

tkband3 · 13/01/2010 14:28

Hi LG

Don't know (re the hard work) but maybe it's to make you even more grateful for the occasional good bits .

MERLYPUSS · 13/01/2010 19:44

I've got a piggin' cold. And I am s'posed to be going to a funeral tomorrow for my mum's second youngest sister but it is in Bluebell hill nr Chatham and they have really bad snow there. Only oldest and youngest left of mum's siblings. i went to youngest brothers cremation when expecting (turned up all bumpy and shocked everyone)and was planning to take the boys as everyone was so excited about the twins, especialy Auntie B (it's her funeral)who was green with envy that her daughter hadn't 'caught' the twin thing. Oh well, may still be able to go if no freeze over......

triplets · 13/01/2010 19:49

Evening ladies! Well the ancient mariner en famille came today, took them to The Royal Hotel by the pier for lunch, £70 for tripe, it was awful! Thought it would be a good choice for a sailor as its famous as Nelson used to spend naughty w/ends there with Lady Hamilton! Still dont know what to do, re hols and b/days. Not the end of the world travelling with an extra "bag" but its the hernia that worries me as its already very uncomfortable, and if he has probs we have no cover. I have phoned and phoned all the major ins comps but as soon as they here stage 4 they dont want to know. The climbing wall Becca would hate and its a long way from here. Why do they need friends to go with, surely its enough they have each other and us No haven`t got Becs the curlers FG, which ones did you get? Glad to hear you sounding brighter

triplets · 13/01/2010 19:52

Think the weather will be ok Merly, we are only an hour from Chatham and its ok here, friends just left us driving back that way and they said it was fine. I too am going to a funeral tomorrow, lovely friend, only 58.

oooggs · 13/01/2010 20:55

trips - I have no suggestions for their birthday - that meeting sounds like a good idea (can't blame Becca wanting to be away from the boys )

FG - hope all goes ok with the op

TKB - did you do your cupboards? I sorted out the cellar when dh (on nights) & ds3 slept this afternoon - very accomplished

welcome play ds1 was 3.3 when dts arrived, dts were 21 mths when ds3 arrived
