Ok so I have now stopped working( for various reasons) and we are going to exist only on dps income.
Apart from the obvious like cancelling the kids' golf lessons what other tips can you give?

Stop going to Waitrose for a start. Go to one of the other supermarkets, and go down a brand in everything you buy.

CountessDracula · 24/04/2009 14:18

i must go to lidl

nailpolish · 24/04/2009 14:18

drive yourself instead of taxis?
short haul instead of long haul?
m&S instad of boden?

nailpolish · 24/04/2009 14:19

lidl is crap
and i dont find it cheaper, actually

Fimbo · 24/04/2009 14:21

Some Lidls are hell holes but they some of the newer ones are nice.

We do basics in there and the rest in err well Waitrose.

CountessDracula · 24/04/2009 14:22

the one in kingston is of the hell hole variety

noddyholder · 24/04/2009 14:22

Menu planning works
I am not going to be working in the way i was before and have really cut down on certain things.
Went to Aldi today had been once before and hated it but I bought the wrong things I think.Today stuck to basics and it was fab.
Def do 2 vegi meals a week
Dress kids in asda so that you can keep your clothes budget the same

bundle · 24/04/2009 14:23

we don't have asda and the last time i bought really cheap (under tenner) jeans (primark I think) they were appalling and chucked them out

JosieMiller · 24/04/2009 14:24

I may have to start rewearing tights.

OP posts:
bundle · 24/04/2009 14:25

i hear lulu does a nice number in secondhand tablecloths

Fimbo · 24/04/2009 14:25

Turn any leftover veg, bits/bobs into soup.

Put all loose change into a jar.
