Just bought 9k worth so hope to join in soon

You won’t be in the upcoming draw but the January one.

JollyHostess101 · 25/11/2023 20:46

Evening all!!

Just have a quick question- were I getting some money from my dad if I was to max out my PBs and then my daughters do they ask where the money is coming from?

Also what happens if my daughter wins if she has the maximum?

Not doing it right now as Dad loved PB so wanted his kept in for the 12months after his death….. so far he’s won £375 which he’d be pretty chuffed about 🤣

JayAlfredPrufrock · 25/11/2023 20:49

No they don’t ask that I’m aware of.

Has your DD got a bank account?

Yes a savings account- stupid me I could just transfer it into there couldn’t I 🤦🏻‍♀️

GeneCity · 25/11/2023 21:53

Don't you have to nominate a bank account when you set up a PB account 🧐.

paranoidnamechanger · 25/11/2023 22:24

If she wins the money goes to the parent who set up the account. Yes, NS&I will probably want to know how you accrued £100K.

Happiestathome · 25/11/2023 22:47

No questions are asked when the money is added or when it’s removed from children’s accounts

Thanks for the update

My premium bonds total went right down in Sept. as invested in NS and I guaranteed growth bond. Consequently I've have no wins in past 2 months or is it 3?

Have now got around £13k in from this month - so fingers crossed for all.

(but not holding my breath 😅)

Clawdy · 26/11/2023 08:37

DH and I each have the same amount in our separate premium bond accounts. What would happen if and when one of us dies? Does the account have to be ended and the money withdrawn?

Realise I’d misunderstood the post I was replying to so have edited my reply out of existence!

CaveMum · 26/11/2023 08:44

@Clawdy my understanding is that the Bonds can continue to be held for 12 months and that any wins form part of the deceased’s estate. After that they have to be withdrawn.

Ilikeyoursleeves · 26/11/2023 09:00

@Clawdy my dad died in Sept and has won £250 in the last two draws. He would've been so chuffed as well 😞 They have been passed to his lawyer who's sorting out his estate. Not sure if his account is closed yet or if it stays open until the lawyer has finished sorting everything

Clawdy · 26/11/2023 09:32

Thanks for these replies.

Yeah they have to come out but can stay in for a year before that!!

paranoidnamechanger · 27/11/2023 20:27

I’ve had a bloody miserable month so even a £25 win would be great on Friday!

Blondeshavemorefun · 27/11/2023 22:42

Sorry had a bad month. Let's see what happens

Good luck everyone. May all our prizes be big ones😁

SB1971 · 28/11/2023 09:29

Good luck all-I’ll be staying over at my parents on Saturday when the app is updated so here’s hoping I will be waking them up with my excitement post a big win…
Probs won’t wake them up for my usual £125/nothing!

Poisoningpigeons · 28/11/2023 09:45

Joining this thread! Good luck to everyone, including me Grin

We've had about £20K+ for several years and have usually won a little something each month. But Not A Sausage for the past few months. So that got us looking more closely and we've realised that our total winnings are most likely significantly below the nominal "interest rate" even taking into account the changes. Wondering about withdrawing into a savings account instead.

But will see what happens this month...

longtompot · 28/11/2023 14:33

Good luck all. Hopefully they'll celebrate it being my birthday this weekend and decide I should win one of the bigger prizes 😉
That, and we were one, ONE number of 250,000 in the lottery this week! Won £300 which was nice, but it's not quarter of a mil!

Bimblesalong · 28/11/2023 14:42

I'm polishing the front doorstep for agent Million - overexcited as it's the first month that my investment of over half of the max is in the draw. I will no doubt be disappointed.

30 years ago, I split up amicably with a boyfriend, who then won 100k on the bonds a couple of months later. He bought a house and moved his mother in with him ...

ChristmasCrumpet · 28/11/2023 19:58

I need to take a chunk of my pb out to buy a car...

Does anyone know if I take them out on the 30th, will they still be in the draw announced on the 1st?

Or do they draw all the bigger prizes on the 30th and then the smaller ones on the 1st?

Essentially, what day can I take them out to still be in this month's draw, does anyone know the definitive answer, as Google is throwing up several results.

OneFrenchEgg · 28/11/2023 20:14

That's a good question @ChristmasCrumpet they do say do you want to wait until the next draw but I don't recall them specifying.

I'm down to £750 this month and then £10750 for January. Looking forward to my experiment 😂
