Interesting, thanks all. Never happened to me or DH before in our many years of holding PBS, but it is random, I guess!

Ohmylovejune · 10/11/2023 11:28

There are many people that received a few pounds of bonds as christening gifts years ago and when they pass, it's possible they've been forgotten when it comes to probate and letting NSI know they've deceased.

When Mum passed we let NSI know and they allowed Dad to keep the bonds for 12m before automatically stopping their prize winning powers. Probate came through a little later and Dad had the money released.

So, I don't think prize errors will be made generally when.people pass only when NSI not told which, given how few bonds many people.hold, that's unsurprising.

Mum had £13 worth and Dad's only record is scrappy little counterfoils with no names on them.

Someone said there was a 50k winner last month - where was that?

Someone said there was a 50k winner last month - where was that?

It was early on in this thread, someone posted that her DH won £50K.

reesewithoutaspoon · 13/11/2023 12:27

Page 7 of this thread. there was a 25k and a 50k winner

Ohmylovejune · 13/11/2023 15:47

I was a 25k in June 2023.

The 50k was very recent. October draw I think. And we've had at least 1x £5k recently too.

Ohmylovejune · 13/11/2023 15:49

Yes, on page 7 there was another 25k which was in October.

:)

Blondeshavemorefun · 13/11/2023 16:44

So some can win and not all have £50k in bonds as previous ouster proved

I was on a winning streak beginning of year and won most months but then not oct and Nov 🥲 and I only have a few thousand

I’m pretty sure that everyone who’s posted on here of big wins of £5K upwards have had holdings of at least £20K.

YourWinter · 13/11/2023 17:50

Look down the list of October winners and there are a few sub-£100 holdings that won decent prizes.

I must bump my £14 holding up eventually. I’ve had them since first launched.

YourWinter · 13/11/2023 18:15

Without studying the October results very carefully, it does seem the vast majority winning >£1000 were purchased in the last 10-20 years.

A £2 bond, part of a £5 holding bought in October 1966, won £5000, as did a £10 bond, in a £10 holding, bought in September 1977. They’re possibly the oldest. I’d love to know if they’ve ever won before.

Ohmylovejune · 13/11/2023 22:40

In about 2015 the max holding increased from 30k to 50k, so many bonds have been bought since then.

paranoidnamechanger · 14/11/2023 19:53

Martin Lewis was on This Morning saying nothing most of us didn't already know about PB's:

www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-12747177/Martin-lewis-money-saving-expert-premium-bonds.html

But what's the point putting a few hundred pounds in a top rate savings account just to get guaranteed interest of £5 or £6 after a year 🤔

Getmeoutofheere · 25/11/2023 13:32

Just bought 9k worth so hope to join in soon

GeneCity · 25/11/2023 14:27

Just to mention that when you take some £ out of PBs, you can say that you want it to be taken out immediately after the next draw. I've done this a couple of times now, because otherwise I tend to forget for a while, then think that I might as well leave the £ in for another month.

Fingers crossed for everyone this month 🙂.

CaveMum · 25/11/2023 16:22

Only a few days to go now, it's been a long month!

Bimblesalong · 25/11/2023 16:52

Fingers crossed! I’ve made a significant investment this time and am hoping for at least a small amount!

Bimblesalong · 25/11/2023 16:52

… I’ve had the month wait so this is the first eligible draw.

KohlaParasaurus · 25/11/2023 16:57

Ooooh! Is it nearly time again?

paranoidnamechanger · 25/11/2023 17:20

Yes it is - we’ll hear on Friday.

Blondeshavemorefun · 25/11/2023 17:32

I don't have many now due to ivf extension and off with with poor ankle

But I was doing really well at beginning of year winning £25 and odd £100 a month but the. Last 2mths nothing so hope to win dec !!!

30 Thur - Millionaire
1 Fri - over £1000 list
4 mon - app

My app is saying 2nd for app results, not 4th.

paranoidnamechanger · 25/11/2023 18:04

The website also says the 2nd for all wins, but the list of £1K wins or more is published on the 1st.

Blondeshavemorefun · 25/11/2023 18:47

Ah may be. I was thinking it was 2nd working day. But I think the app doesn't make a diff if working day or weekend
