Nationwide Fairer Share Payment

noaxetogrind · 19/05/2023 17:46

I can't find anything on the Nationwide website relating specifically to the 11-17 year old Flex-One account. I am hoping that as it is called a current account it qualifies for the £100 payment, but it would be nice to know.

Does anyone know anything further please?

You need both a qualifying account and a qualifying savings account , but yes the FlexOne does qualify as long as there was a transaction in March -

You need a current account and a savings account or a current account and a mortgage

QuintanaRoo · 19/05/2023 17:55

If you log on to online banking and you qualify it flashes up to tell you. I got a big message this morning when I logged on.

PatriciaHolm · 19/05/2023 18:00

Ah yes - I got an email about it too as well as the flag in the app.

smalbert · 19/05/2023 18:02

Make sure to check junk emails as mine was in there!

RoseDog · 19/05/2023 18:02

Ds is getting it, he was just 18 in April, in March he had the flex one and a government child trust fund. Martin Lewis has done an easy understandable article on his website.

dementedpixie · 19/05/2023 18:08

Yeah, you need a savings account or mortgage alongside the current account. I got an email too

berksandbeyond · 19/05/2023 18:10

As everyone says, you need two things to qualify. So just a current account wouldn’t be enough unfortunately!

Whatthetrolley · 19/05/2023 18:37

Didn't even know this was a thing and I'm usually on top of things like this. Welcome email today!

It’s new, I believe it’s the first time they’ve done this. When I got the email this morning I thought it was one of those ‘refer a friend and you’ll get X’ things, I was delighted to find it’s literally free money!

Same here! Nice surprise.

hilbil21 · 19/05/2023 18:41

I thought it was spam when I received it! I'm pretty impressed. Both me and my husband are on our current and savings account so we get £100 each.

Heroicallyfound · 19/05/2023 18:41

@berksandbeyond yep I’ve banked and had numerous products with them nearly 20yrs and never had this before!

thesnailandthewhale · 19/05/2023 18:42

Ive got the mortgage and current account but in the t &c's it says you have to have paid £500 in twice between qualifying dates so I miss out 🙄😕

Welshy26 · 19/05/2023 18:43

Nice surprise getting this email this morning. Thank you Nationwide.

I didn't know if it was per account or per person so its good to know we will both get it

Justwanttotravel · 19/05/2023 18:44

If you have online banking start a ‘chat’.
I was t sure if I was eligible so I went in chat and the option to check eligibility is there. Told me I am and then I got an email confirming it 👍

Cupcakegirl13 · 19/05/2023 18:45

Is it defo per person ?? I read it as per account.

PinkRiceKrispies · 19/05/2023 18:47

Nice surprise. I also like the fact that Nationwide did cashback on supermarket spends for 3 months. Wish it could be extended as that helped quite a bit.

I just looked at the T&Cs

If there is more than one account holder, each of you will be a member of Nationwide, so these terms and conditions apply to each of you individually. This means that if a qualifying current account, or qualifying mortgage is in joint names, the product and the whole of any balance will count towards each individual’s eligibility for the payment.

For example, if you hold a qualifying current account and a qualifying mortgage jointly with someone else, you will both be eligible to receive the payment.

Similarly, qualifying savings will take account of the whole of any savings and cash ISA balances you hold in your sole name and those you hold jointly.

noaxetogrind · 19/05/2023 19:02

Thank you to everybody that managed to read the t&c properly. If only I had done so too!

I'm quite annoyed, been with them since a child and have several accounts (2 current, various savings) - but due to being skint I have nothing in the savings account so don't qualify. If they really want to help their members....

lemonyellows · 19/05/2023 19:10

Shame as we have had a mortgage with them for 19 years. Bah.
