Tax credits renewal

Does anyone know when these start being sent? Mine has normally been issued by this point as my payments significantly drop whilst I have to declare pension contributions.
I'm just trying to plan for they drop and get everything in place to submit to try and avoid the long wait to get it rectified

They are sending them out from 2nd May to 15th June this year.

Needanewadventure2021 · 25/04/2023 16:56

Thank you

Following.....I tried to look on my government gateway. Cos I wanted to sort ...it seems you have to wait for the renewals pack.

Needanewadventure2021 · 25/04/2023 17:16

I absolutely hate it. But I have to wait until I am migrated to UC otherwise if I move myself I loose out quite significantly. But every year it's a nightmare having to see my payments drop. The one year it went on 8 months. Obviously I want to avoid that

Needanewadventure2021 · 26/04/2023 19:43

Well I wasn't waiting long. My payments have massively dropped. I could cry

OP posts:
sunsunpleasecomeout · 26/04/2023 20:14

I logged in this morning and I'm on automatic renewal so payments have changed already

Needanewadventure2021 · 26/04/2023 22:21

I hope mine isn't automatic renewal as I have pension to declare which changes the my annual income

OP posts:
Chasingsquirrels · 26/04/2023 22:30

I saw this thread yesterday, checked mine and May, June & July payments were showing.
Just checked again and no payments showing.
Same situation with pension contributions.
I've just updated my expected 23-24 employment income to reflect my pension contributions, but now thinking maybe I shouldn't have.
Annoying having to wait for renewal packs when it's done online anyway, but I always have to wait for my p11d (as we get health insurance through work) anyway.

Reggiebo · 26/04/2023 22:59

Agree ..it's a pain waiting...as you say it's done on line.

Needanewadventure2021 · 27/04/2023 00:22

It causes so much stress

Just wanted to update. This have been the quickest turnaround ever. I actually didn't wait for my renewal pack as every year it is the same issue, my pension payments! And I really cannot be waiting months. Obviously I checked my annual earnings against what was declared to them and so I knew all I had to declare was my contributions.

I declared via the app on 3rd May which was the first opportunity I was given to do it. (I had not received my pack). I then come home to a letter yesterday dated 17th May regarding the difference in earnings asking for proof. It said there were able to accept certain deductions over the phone. It didn't appear to be their standard letter or at least one I've ever been sent before. So I called and kept getting cut off. Then was on hold for over 90 minutes and at just before 7pm the call connected, went through security. Declared my contributions. I was told they now have 8 weeks to process and update but my payments have now been updated and 22/23 completed.

Not everyone will be comfortable doing this without their renewal pack but after 8 years it is always the same deduction that needs declaring

OP posts:
Chasingsquirrels · 20/05/2023 14:25

Interesting, I haven't had my pack - but haven't had my p11d yet either.
I requested the p11d figure this week so I've got all the info now. I'll have a look at completing the renewal.

Needanewadventure2021 · 20/05/2023 14:38

It really has been straightforward. I'm glad it's done now and payments have been reinstated.
I do worry though how this is going to work when I get moved to UC because every month they will have the higher amount declared not taking into account my pension contributions

OP posts:
spaceychimp80 · 21/05/2023 17:32

Just downloaded the HMRC app now and will look to do my renewal tomorrow. I have the same pension issue and it's very annoying I agree.
Wonder if the renewals are quicker than normal because they are hoping to migrate everyone just one on tax credits to universal credit by September? Think that's what I read anyway.

Needanewadventure2021 · 21/05/2023 23:24

Oh gosh is it September? I hope the managed migration goes as planned then as I really can't afford the difference between TC and UC.

But then my next worry is going to be how the pension contributions get declared because of how they are paid. Does anyone know?

OP posts:
spaceychimp80 · 22/05/2023 19:53

I’ve tried to find out how UC will work with this pension issue but can’t find anything that answers it. Must affect lots of people though so hopefully it’s straightforward.
Btw I tried to do my renewal but it said I couldn’t if I hadn’t received my renewal pack. Did you just pretend that you’d had yours already @Needanewadventure2021 ?

Needanewadventure2021 · 22/05/2023 20:53

@spaceychimp80 yes I said I had received it. I still haven't but it's all been finalised. The difference for me was my pension contributions. It's the same every year but most years I'm left waiting until November for it to be finalised. But as I was confident what I needed to deduct that is why I went ahead and renewed without it.
It asks the usual questions about the red line. Historically mine has never been a renewal pack where I am expected to make changes and they renew on the figures they have received and I can then challenge if I don't agree, so I proceeded on that basis (no red line)

spaceychimp80 · 23/05/2023 20:19

Thanks @Needanewadventure2021 I will wait for my renewal pack, it says it should be with me before mid June.

Needanewadventure2021 · 23/05/2023 21:51

Mine arrived today. So hopefully you won't have to wait long

OP posts:
spaceychimp80 · 09/06/2023 18:50

Wow, yes they really are working much faster this year!
Received my renewal pack on Tuesday so did it that afternoon and then got my letter today so rang to inform them of my pension contributions.
The guy I spoke to was perhaps new and didn't fill me with confidence that he was deducting my pension contributions appropriately but I got his name so hopefully he did it right.
How long did you have to wait for your payments to be amended @Needanewadventure2021 ? Thanks.

Chasingsquirrels · 09/06/2023 20:48

Interesting. My renewal pack came at the weekend and I did the renewal online on Tuesday morning. Currently it's saying "in progress, will be finalised by 30 November".

Last year it just got put on the too hard pile, I eventually rang up and they basically said it's been started then put in limbo because the salary figures id entered didn't equal the P60 figures they had. Confirmed my pension contribution figures over the phone and finalised it.

What letter did you get spaceychimp80?

ScoobyBooby · 09/06/2023 21:09

Are you supposed to deduct pension contributions from your annual earnings before giving your total income for the year ?

ScoobyBooby · 09/06/2023 21:17

I just renewed our tax credits but DH pays into a pension

Needanewadventure2021 · 09/06/2023 22:05

@spaceychimp80 I did it on the Friday evening and was told 8 weeks if I remember correctly. It was done the next day

OP posts:
Needanewadventure2021 · 09/06/2023 22:06

@Chasingsquirrels it is much quicker doing it over the phone. Maybe give them a call?
