Does anyone know when these start being sent? Mine has normally been issued by this point as my payments significantly drop whilst I have to declare pension contributions.
I'm just trying to plan for they drop and get everything in place to submit to try and avoid the long wait to get it rectified

Ok thank you

I complained about that letter on income differences last year as you could only telephone and I could never get through. So I wrote a letter explaining the differences (which like many of you have been the same structure for years even if the amounts have varied - pension, professional memberships, giftaid, interest on savings) and added the complaint on about not being able to get through. I did receive a fairly timely reply which dealt with the differences but not the substance of my complaint.

But you all think Sept for change to UC? I don't qualify for UC but still have a child in full time education for the next couple of years at least. I have been job hunting - it's a shame I am good at what I do but education just pays so badly.

Needanewadventure2021 · 15/06/2023 06:36

I'm in education too @thelionthewitchtheaudacityofTHISbitch and I totally agree. It's bloody hard work for the little we get paid.

I didnt think about not qualifying on UC. I usually do, but I know UC is much less than my TC and that's my worry

I called them at lunchtime and he took the figures and it is now showing "finalised processing". Not showing tax credits due but hopefully that will update overnight.

And now showing the payments due.

My migration letter arrived today! Have until 20th September to do it, so planning on leaving it until the beginning of August as I know we don't get paid anything for 5 weeks.
Anybody else received theirs yet?

Needanewadventure2021 · 23/06/2023 09:51

Oh crap. Makes me so nervous. Is your level of award the same?

OP posts:
spaceychimp80 · 23/06/2023 11:20

I sort of knew it was coming soon as they are announcing in different areas in different months. Not sure which area will receive their migration letter in July.
What do you mean by level of award?

Needanewadventure2021 · 23/06/2023 13:37

As in the amount. Is it the same as TC or worse?

OP posts:
spaceychimp80 · 23/06/2023 15:34

I won't know until I start the process but you apparently get twelve months transitional protection

Needanewadventure2021 · 23/06/2023 19:23

So that means after 12 months it's likely to drop?

OP posts:
spaceychimp80 · 23/06/2023 20:03

Yes mine definitely will as I have more than 6K in savings.

I just got my migration letter today. Really panicking. As it’s less according to the calculator.

What’s this about 5 weeks delay?? Do they not back date it?

spaceychimp80 · 30/06/2023 15:31

@Rummikub Not sure if it’s backdated tbh, just read on previous posts that you don’t get any money for 5 weeks unless you request an advance payment, which you then have to pay back over time.

Rummikub · 30/06/2023 15:36

I’m trying to read up on it now.

And can’t see anything. Seems a bit mean if they don’t backdate it!

Rummikub · 30/06/2023 15:48

Oh looks like it’s not backdated as they say they mimic in arrears wages.

It’s much more complicated than I expected (on purpose?)
eg if you’re paid twice in an assessment period then UC credit affected.

I have no idea how to work this out - I get paid last Friday of every month.

Symposium · 30/06/2023 16:12

Does anyone know if they send a reminder letter after the first one? Just wondering what would happen if the letter was lost in the post and you had no idea you were supposed to apply and then missed the deadline.

Needanewadventure2021 · 30/06/2023 18:10

Oh this is really worrying me now

You can do it online! Just log in to hmrc with your gateway password and update it yourself!

There is a HMRC app too

areyouhavinglaugh · 30/06/2023 18:20

Migration isn't happening until late 2024
Unless you've been told other wise?

Wafflefudge · 30/06/2023 18:23

@areyouhavinglaugh that's not true, they are working on moving tax credits only claimants over starting now. People gave started getting letters.

Wafflefudge · 30/06/2023 18:26

Tax credit only claimants (ie those claiming tax credits but no other legacy benefits) will be selected for the managed migration exercise by the end of 2023.
This is what it says online

Rummikub · 30/06/2023 19:55

Damn it! That’s me. Got the letter today. I was hoping they’d leave us till last.

Thank you for the info. This is me! So I shall await my letter.
