I’m more excited about next month! I’ve got 20k at the moment but added 30k last month which will be in the May draw. I’ve got a “ bet” with my financial adviser that over the next 12 months I will have made more money in pb than if I had invested in a fund through him - I’m taking into account his charges to invest my money as well!

It will be fun seeking the outcome! If I lose, then I will consider selling the bonds.

@Ilovetocrochet I can only dream of £50k

Well done

Sooooooo

What do you need to win via pb v what you would get in interest /bonds in a year

I understand the disillusionment. I would need to win £50 pcm in order to beat the interest on my Chip account (£41ish). If I win nothing again this month I might cut my losses.

So 600 in a year

Some month May be nothing but could have 100 or 500

Well, seeing as Agent Million didn't visit my house yesterday, I'm going to go with the theory that they turn up on the last day of the month.

Luckily we have no plans to go out tomorrow, I'd hate to miss them Grin

I hope one of you gets the other Agent Millions visit Wink

SweetSakura · 29/04/2023 20:30

It's my birthday in a couple of weeks so I think it's only fair if I get an agent millions visit this time Grin

Assuming I can get 4% after tax ( might get more in a managed investment fund but might get less if share prices drop!), then I need to get £2000 over the year - an average of £166 a month!

As I’ve had £50 with a £20,000 holding over five months, I might be lucky!

Ilovetocrochet · 30/04/2023 00:22

Should probably add that I’ve only got money to invest after the death of my Mum, I always joked with her about winning a million with my premium bonds which she found very amusing as I only held £4 bonds that were a Christening present when bonds were first introduced!

It’s a year today since she died so I’m holding on to that memory on a very sad day.

DoorstoManual · 30/04/2023 08:53

Sending love and strength, DH and I are both on close to full holdings, but only due to my inheritance. I get it.

Sorry to hear about you DM, Ilovetocrochet.

I was in a similar position (and also April, now I think about it). We kept my Mum's PB account open while we were dealing with probate/house sale. She did rather well (usually winning a little each month).

It inspired me to put some of my inheritance in PB to keep the memory going.

Let's hope somebody here gets the big prizes for April!

Eaumyword · 30/04/2023 17:15

Wouldn't it be lovely!

OneFrenchEgg · 01/05/2023 07:46

Prize checker on Weds?

Chittering · 01/05/2023 08:55

Getting excited here. I love checking the checker! I just looked at last months prize (my first ever) and the background picture has changed..does that mean anything??

redrobininmygarden · 01/05/2023 09:08

Hi,I qualified today first time to enter to prize draw. It's saying no luck this time and next draw in 2 days time? It doesn't make any sense. Does prize checker takes a while to update the results?

Livinghappy · 01/05/2023 09:20

@Borntobeamum I'm not sure how notifications came through years ago but imagine wins were posted. Could there be change of addresses? However you do seem to need a larger holding to win however if you check the winners website there is often someone with a small amount of holdings that has won.

ChessieFL · 01/05/2023 09:37

@redrobininmygarden it takes a few days for everyone to be notified of the results. The order is:
Last day of month (or thereabouts) - million winners notified
First of month (or thereabouts) - big winners list shared
second of month (or thereabouts) - app updated

It changes a bit with weekends and bank holidays. For May the app won’t be updated until Wednesday.

redrobininmygarden · 01/05/2023 09:44

@ChessieFL Thank you for explaining.

Borntobeamum · 01/05/2023 09:54

Re my mums £500 - she actually bought them in 1999, not 2007.
She kept them up to date with her address but it seems she never won a penny.
24 years of nothing. 🤷🏼‍♀️

redrobininmygarden · 01/05/2023 10:07

I have only invested £50 , looking at the results- I don't stand a chance but again you never know. There is always a hope.

I might increase the amount but getting a guaranteed return on fixed rate accounts nowadays is lucrative.

I am hopeful since someone won £25K on £114 holdings in April Grin

JayAlfredPrufrock · 01/05/2023 11:07

Only a day to wait.

Madcats · 01/05/2023 11:23

I was given £10 of premium bonds as a Christening present. One of them won £50 when I was in my mid 20's (never to win again).

RockaLock · 01/05/2023 12:12

I had £102 from when I was born. I won nothing at all until I was about 33, when I won £25, or maybe it was £50.

Since then I've put more in (£20k, but will be £30k from June) and have won £25 fairly regularly.

Still not outstanding by any means, but I view it as an easy-access savings account in case I need the cash, but one that is also separate enough to stop me dipping into it.

Blondeshavemorefun · 01/05/2023 13:01

So if my corrections are right midnight tonight the big list will be ready

And wed the app showing

I jumped out of bed at stupid o clock this morning ready to check The List forgetting I'd got the wrong day... Sad

The anticipation is my favourite part of the month though really. Like 23rd December was always more fun than Xmas itself Grin so I've prolonged the 'fun bit'

Blondeshavemorefun · 01/05/2023 13:21

Oh @Sparklfairy It's the first working day of the month

Bloody bhm😂
