Question. If you cash bonds in, which ones do you relinquish. Newer or older ones?

I think older.

I choose newer ones as my late grandparent left me my older ones. You can choose!

It must have been discussed before, but if someone shows up on your doorstep claiming to be Agent Million, what's the right procedure to use to check that it really is, and not some fraudster? Presumably some variant of "ring NSandI using a number you look up not one the person gives you and ask" - but is there such a number that would actually work without leaving you on hold for half an hour? I suppose asking for the number of the bond that won would be helpful too if you can be confident nobody else knows which bonds you have. Pretty sure looking at a laminated card saying Agent Million is no good, nor calling a number the person gives you...

I think I'd better have a plan in advance, because I won't be able to think straight when it happens 😀What will you do?

I worry that if I relinquish any bonds then they will be the winning one. I feel my first set have had the most winnings though

I imagine they’d be happy to go and sit in their car or something while you verified their identity via the normal NS&I query line. I can’t imagine it would take too long.

TBH I’d probably invite them in for a coffee while I verified them.

Today is the only day I get properly dressed for WFH, just in case Agent Million calls #priorities

I went out yesterday and wasn't back till really late. I wonder if AM leave a card like the post office do when they pretend they knocked to deliver my parcels

I had a shower this morning. Unrelated to my potential hopes of winning, but reading this thread I'm quite glad now. DP is changing the car brakes on the drives so he can act as early warning. My unfounded hope and excitement might finally have convinced him to put some of his savings into bonds instead of just having them lurk in his useless ISA

I don’t suppose you would be able to ring anyone to verify if they don’t come round until the evening.

I assume they would know enough about you and your PB history for you to know if they’re genuine. OK, a hacker might be able to find out all that info too but I suspect there’s easier scams for them to get your money than pretending to be AM. As long as you don’t give them any personal info it would be fine (just very disappointing if it turned out not to be true!)

I am a bit worried because flights have been delayed into NZ due to some horrendous weather. I hope he does not rock up to the airport and his flight is delayed and he decides not to wait.
