Spending tracker /budget app for cash and bank

Clunky title sorry.

I always mean to keep track of incoming and outgoing in a little budget book but am not too hot at keeping on top of it. I'm terrible at budgeting, managing money, admin, etc.

Have been looking at apps, but most seem to be just linked to bank.

I'm looking for one I can just note everything down, including when I spend cash. I downloaded Emma but can't see anywhere to keep track of cash transactions. I have tried researching online but it's unclear if any of the big ones do this. My bank is an online one so does the pots / envelopes like the one whose acronym I can't remember because it looks like YABU and I'm a mumsnetter!

Yes I could just use a book, or a spreadsheet, I know, but it hasn't been working!

Thanks in advance.

Do you mean YNAB? there are quite a few threads on here about it. I use the legacy version, I gave the new one a go for a couple of years but I break one of their major rules and forecast my spending (which it's easier to do in the old version!)

I used to use YNAB. But now it's subscription based if you get the new version. But I've switched my current account to Starling and it's just so much easier. I put aside money in their pots.

I'm no help as I use a spreadsheet! It's really very simple though. 😁 #nothelpful

I also use the Spending app, you have to manually add in all your spending so not linked to a bank account, but means you can use for cash as well.

With the upgraded version (I think was £2!!) you can create repeated payments for direct debits etc. Can also future date spend so if you know you have a dinner next week you can add in an estimate so you don’t have to keep mentally taking it off your bank balance!

I use MS Money Sunset on my laptop, and download the bank account and credit card transactions directly from my bank into it. It’s not been supported by Microsoft for years, which didn’t matter; but I am not sure if it’s still available to download? It keeps track of all bank accounts, credit cards and cash transactions to produce an ongoing monthly income and expenses report. You can also set up your budget to compare to actual monthly expenses.

Im actually quite loving Plum. I am rubbish with budgeting and saving and always spend too much :( also like to use buy now pay later so it feels i always owe money.
however, with Plum ive managed to save about £200 in 2 months! (They will be going towards credits cards though :(

its not a spending tracker as such but lets you set aside some small sums (u can set a weekly amount, or switch on its analytical tool and it will calculate how much you can put aside with your usual bills/spending). Ive switched the above off and only left £2 per week and “round to a pound” spending (puts away pennies on your daily spending by rounding your pounds).
U can also see how much u spend and switch on budgeting function (it will divide your “spending” money that are left after bills into weekly portions). Im yet to do it
anyways, if anyone wants to give it a shot - feel free to use my referral link (i get £40 for every 3 referrals)
