Not been payed all of my DLA

JinglyJingles · 30/12/2021 16:10

According to the letter they owe me £330 for the month of December and two weeks pay from November. At the end of november they gave me the months money of £330 but not the 2 weeks money that they owe me from November. It's now the 30th of December and I'm getting worried they won't pay it or if I don't claim it in time they won't owe it to me anymore? Mum has said I need to wait until the end of January. Which sounds ridiculous to wait for money they owe me from november.

Are you sure you haven't had it already?

JinglyJingles · 30/12/2021 16:15

I recieved £330 into my bank for the month of december which was stated they owe me per month in their letter to me so yes im sure

All you can do is call them to query it.

JinglyJingles · 30/12/2021 16:21

Sorry I've gotten muddled. I mean they gave me the months money for december but not the two weeks they owe me in November

I checked the website and it says: DLA is usually paid every 4 weeks on a Tuesday. If your payment date is on a bank holiday, you will usually be paid before the bank holiday.
It is also paid in arrears.
So on your letter it will tell you when the claim starts.
Are you sure no money went into your account before you got the letter - as sometimes the money arrives before the letter does?

PicaK · 30/12/2021 16:26

What date was the payment in December?
Was it mid December - so it would have included the 2 weeks in Nov and 2 weeks in Dec and so your next payment is due in January (4 weeks after that)

Cheersto2022 · 30/12/2021 16:27

@picaK yes this is what I was meaning. Both of my children the money went into the account several days prior to the letter. Check through your bank account

PicaK · 30/12/2021 16:33

Yes it's a confusing system. I find the 4 week payment thing very irritating all year. I'm a grown up, I budget monthly etc etc.... Until it gets to Xmas and the extra payment pops up and I suddenly think that someone in the DLA office knows what they're doing.

JinglyJingles · 30/12/2021 16:53

The letter reads 'We will pay you £167.40 into the account your appointee provided. This is money we owe you from november 17th-30th of november 2021.

We will then pay your benefit into your account every four weeks on a Tuesday.'

They payed me the £334.80 (a months money) on december 24th

Have you called them? Surely they can give you a better response than people on here can, as helpful as they can try to be

JinglyJingles · 30/12/2021 16:57

I haven't called them as mum has said it's the holidays and no one will be there to answer

OP posts:
maxineputyourredshoeson · 30/12/2021 17:01

Is it £167.40 a week? If so they have paid you two weeks money - which would be for the two weeks of November.

Kitkat151 · 30/12/2021 17:03

You are wasting your time posting hear....phone them on 4th jan

LittleOwl153 · 30/12/2021 17:13

Did you get a letter which states what they will pay and when at the start of your claim? They do send an excessive amount of letters sometimes but in this case it would be useful.

I have had 2 letters recently. 1 stating that they were paying a Christmas bonus in the December payment.

You need to check your account and make sure they have made the payments they have stated. If they haven't then ring them. I wouldn't wait as it won't self correct, but it won't lapse in a couple of weeks either so don't panic about it.

BigYellowHat · 30/12/2021 17:20

Nobody here can give you the answer, just call them.

ForTheLoveOfSleep · 30/12/2021 17:25

The letter for back pay usually arrives a few days AFTER the payment has gone in. Look back further through your bank statement to around the date on the letter.

esloquehay · 30/12/2021 17:38

Call them, for the love of God, rather than taking your Mother's words for it. No-one on here can help you with this other than to suggest to call them. Friday (tomorrow) is not a Bank Holiday if you are in England.

ademanlu · 30/12/2021 17:48

The money paid on 24th is what you are due from 1st to 28th Dec it was paid early due to the 28th being a holiday date. You should have had an earlier payment of the amount owing from 17th to 30th November.

ademanlu · 30/12/2021 17:50

Oh and the office will be open tomorrow as it is a normal working day - your next payment should be paid on 25th Jan.

PeaceONoeuf · 30/12/2021 17:51

Or if you’ve only just turned 16 the first lot went to your mum and then to you. Depending on how it’s set up.

PicaK · 30/12/2021 18:11

Definitely double check your bank statements for November to make sure you didn't get paid it before the date at the top of the letter.
Then you can ring them when they are open again.
I would leave it a few days as everyone hates the initial few days back at work
Make you sure you have the claim number ready to read out. I highlight this cos I can get flustered and lose sight of where it is.
Remember that this is an Admin error so don't get annoyed.
I would say
"Oh hello. Please can you help me? I don't seem to have been paid the November part of my dla."
Always ask for help in these types of calls, people respond well to that. Sometimes it's worth having a script in front of you.
Every so often say something like" I'm so grateful for your help." or" Thanks for looking" if they are tip tapping away at their computer
I know it's their job but it really does grease the wheels.

Hi, OP. Just FYI we've moved your thread to Money Matters for you.

PeaceONoeuf · 30/12/2021 18:42

I doubt it’s an error more the admin of moving from your parent’s account to yours. Ring them and check, they will know which accounts they have on record.

JinglyJingles · 30/12/2021 18:48

I definitely haven't been payed the money they owe me from november. I have only recieved one payment from them of £334.80 on December 24th. I'll check with mum to see if it's gone into her account and phone them when my next payments due

Sounds like your mum has had it hence trying to put you off contacting them
