New thread for us for June draw

Let’s hope we all win something next month

OP posts:
DrMadelineMaxwell · 10/05/2021 07:12

I would love for dh or I to win one of the bigger amounts. Everything just gets reinvested and I have a standing order to add to my holdings each month. Dh moved his from a bank account and only adds to it by reinvesting his prizes.

I've won £100 in small prizes over the last 6 draws on 20k.

Dh has won £250 in 6 months on 40k.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 10/05/2021 07:14

V happy with that return to be fair. And I like the mini excitement of checking each month to see if we have won anything without having to throw money away on lottery tickets.

Blondeshavemorefun · 10/05/2021 07:34

@Hazel444 does seem very bad luck

Have you had £10k since you started 16yrs ago

Or that amount only in the past few months

Let’s hope June is your month

The £10k bonds were set up with an inheritance 16 years ago and I've only this past year started adding to it.

@TangledUp789 thanks - I would love it to be the case that I had lots of unclaimed prizes to collect but I've had the same bank account for the past 20 years (and promoted by your post I doubled checked it's correct and it is) and the bonds have only been registered to two addresses one of which is my parents house which was only sold in the past year so we've been getting mail from there, and my current address.

Blondeshavemorefun · 10/05/2021 11:32

Guess there is no harm in contacting them with details and say can they check if you have won anything

Esp if the martin Lewis app says you should win average £75 a year

OP posts:
oldwhyno · 10/05/2021 11:53

Max holding and only £25 this month. Can't remember when the prize fund was last reduced, but I've averaged £50/month over the last 6 draws. That's 1.2%

Thecazelets · 10/05/2021 15:57

I was a bit fed up with winning nothing twice in a row on my max holding, but looking back over the past 12 months I have had £625 in total over the year, which is definitely better than any of my savings accounts at the moment. I've never 'won' than £150 in a month and that's only happened once in a blue moon.

MerryAnton · 11/05/2021 22:15

Two 50k pots 'won' nothing this month :(

Silkiecats · 12/05/2021 22:26

Got nothing again on full holding, not won so far, put money in Feb March but qualified from April. Still doing better than the SSisa which is negative.

DaydreamerBetty · 16/05/2021 21:02

Hi I’ve been reading this thread for a while and have finally decided to join in the chat.
I’ve been slowly adding to my PB’S and hope to have 10k next month. I’ve won £50 so far this year.
Good luck to everyone for June’s draw. 🍀

loveautum · 17/05/2021 21:25

I'm joining in too. Just opened my premium bond account 🙌

Cottagepieandpeas · 20/05/2021 14:30

Just found/joined the thread.

I started a discussion on AIBU about whether I should give up playing the lottery and someone suggested PBs. Great idea. I’ve put £5k in and will be adding about £100 per month for the time being. (That’s a lot more than I spent on the lottery!).

TulipsTwoLips · 23/05/2021 16:07

About £6000 in bonds here. Crossing my fingers for June's draw!

BigWoollyJumpers · 23/05/2021 16:39

It's really interesting reading this thread. DH and I each have about £3k, he never wins anything, I often win £25. How does that happen? Just luck?

I think I am going to add to mine, I have some inheritance on the way, and want to spread it about a bit, so thinking extra PB's might be worth it. We get nothing for cash savings, so might as well take a punt?

CeibaTree · 25/05/2021 19:48

We are getting some money from a house sale soon so I am planning to max out my premium bonds. I've never won anything on a holding of £600 that I've had for almost 20 years, but from reading this thread it seems people with larger holdings win quite regularly :)

DirtyDancing · 28/05/2021 08:07

Hi just put my inheritance in to PBs and now have the max holiday for first time ever. Glad to see there is a thread to see what happens!

Considering giving DS and DD £5k each as well.. not sure if it’s worth it, but interest rates are so low and DD is always lucky might be worth a punt!

InTheCludgie · 28/05/2021 08:40

Good luck to you DirtyDancing, I put max holdings in at the end of last year (also an inheritance) and have won £300 total since December draw, a lot more than I would have received on the crappy bank account interest rate.

TwinsAndTrifle · 28/05/2021 08:51

I've had £1000 in bonds since childhood, and nothing for about 15yrs. I've bought £1000 for DS ten years ago and he's never had anything. I've also bought another £5000 a year ago, and nothing there either???

This isn't right is it?

Offredismysister · 28/05/2021 09:46

Joining as I’ve just found this thread.
I’ve got £30k in & win most months, usually £25, but £50 or £75 on occasion. In January I decided to put in a set amount a month until the lockdown lifted, so think I have been winning more as I’m buying bonds each month.

Pemba · 28/05/2021 16:14

Twins you have to have near the maximum amount (£50,000) to be pretty sure of winning most months. Even then it's not guaranteed. I don't know if you are particularly unlucky . With average luck, on your £5,000 for a year you should have won £50. You have had a bit worse luck than average.

Have a look at this probability calculator from the Martin Lewis website:

www.moneysavingexpert.com/savings/premium-bonds-calculator/#result

Personally, as interest rates are so appalling right now, I feel there is not much to lose. It is like entering the lottery each month, but you get to keep the price of the tickets. It could be you (or your DS) for the million next month!

But up to you.

TwinsAndTrifle · 28/05/2021 19:13

@Pemba thank you, I added a little more today, inspired by this thread that I must get a damn £25 soon Grin

Blondeshavemorefun · 29/05/2021 12:18

4 days to go

OP posts:
kathcake21 · 29/05/2021 13:45

I had £500 in bonds till recently when I switched my £12k in a savings account over. With a paltry interest rate of just 0.5% from 1.5% in December ! I thought it's worth a go!

SappysCurry · 29/05/2021 13:55

@OnlyToWin

Hi, sorry to jump on thread with probably obvious question but if your address details are up to date do they contact you by post if you have won? I remember a “prize from ERNIE” letter years ago when I won £50. Has that changed? Do I need to check online now? Thanks
has anyone answered this for you ? In case not here’s a Useful link how to register online, it’s really straightforward.

www.nsandi.com/online-registration

If you win any prizes they are paid direct to your nominated account
The prize checker app is great you can install once registered
Good Luck

happytobemrsg · 30/05/2021 17:17

So I’m in the process of paying of an unexpected tax bill & our new kitchen by February 22 so I’m putting away £2000 p/m. I figured I might as well put them in premium bonds while I’m saving up! So on Friday I put in my £4k. It’ll be another month before I’m eligible for the prize draw
