@CompleteBarstool
Good post
*@YouokHun*.
Can I ask if you still follow Roomie's exploits?
I'd be interested to know how you view her foray into working with victims of childhood sexual abuse, domestic violence, those suffering with anxiety and clients who need "empowerment and support" when she's clearly quite vulnerable herself and although she has worked in the area of DV some years ago doesn't appear to have any recognised qualifications in counselling/therapy (although she did attend some "follow the light" type retreat course a couple of years ago)
@CompleteBarstool I haven’t looked at Roomie since the relative was disputing her version of events so I’m not really up to speed with her. She is more credible than WW but she’s a weird mix; in the past she’s obviously had some contact with legitimate agencies but there are just too many positive thinking memes and a hand in some kind of property endeavour. As soon as her CSA/DV audience has a money making endeavour put in front of it we are back in dodgy MLM style exploitation aren’t we?
As for the coaching and charging for it (or even coaching and not charging for it), I think the same questions apply as for WW; insurance, Enhanced DBS, GDPR and ISO registration, risk awareness and management, safeguarding. I guess she’ll have much more awareness of the last two considerations but I doubt she’s up to date. Regarding counselling of CSA victims, this is considered a specialist area from a counselling or psychotherapy point of view. In the NHS we would have referred those people to a specialist agency where I understand they have very specific training and an understanding of very specific trauma. I can’t see that Roomie has this training. Having apparently had the experience herself I am sure helps her to empathise, which of course is valuable but actually it doesn’t make her able to help people in an evidence based way iyswim, therefore I think what she’s doing is risky. The risk is partly because she’s going it alone and therapeutic work needs heads together; supervision, support from peers (because of what one hears), guidance from more experienced colleagues. She doesn’t have any of that (I assume).
