Hope you’re all well and have had a fantastic month of money making in April. And of course, welcome to anyone just joining us. I’ve finally managed to hopefully put together a more comprehensive list of absolutely everything I can think of to help people maximise their earnings in these uncertain times, some are referral links where me/the user earn some sort of reward, but you are under no obligation at all to use them. I just want to get this out of the way and say that please, I know times are really tough for so many people, and tensions are high, but please don’t take it out on others on this thread. @seizethecuttlefish I don't know how they can just refuse to pay for work that's been done and not even clarify exactly how tasks haven't passed their quality control. They don't even tell you, you only find out when you check your dashboard or realise you haven't been paid. The trouble is, I think they have so many people lining up to work for them, they just don't care

@Frenchdoors1 I keep asking about them but not getting any answers. I know they're perfect as the sound was good and all said exactly. Hoping they get paid soon.

@seizethecuttlefish that's awful! I'm still waiting for a response from the emails I've sent them chasing payment. Does anyone know if there's an ombudsman or similar for these online companies that you can go to with a dispute?

Thank god i've only done the 1 job for Neevo, hopefully they will pay for that but I won't do anymore going on your experiences.

Anyway, i've done well on User Testing tonight. I can't do it when the kids are up as they are too loud but I found chance earlier. 2 very easy tests done for $10 each so I am happy. They are excellent payers too. I would really recommend them. Much better than Intellizoom.

Well seeing that no one has been paid yet hopefully we should be soon.

Even if I've not done them all to their expectations I would still like to know and shouldn't have to email to ask. If the payment was only a few cents it's the principle of the matter isn't it.

Just did exactly one hour on that quick b* link they sent out. Wonder if I was the only one awake lol was actually in the middle of completing my application for a work promotion which is due in tomorrow when I saw the email best get back to it...

lol @MrsPretzels, I just saw the link and all the work is gone. Ironically I was awake with a teething baby so could have worked it had I checked.

Could anybody help explain to my how paying tax on all of this works?

I know i need to register as self employed for working at lionbridge.

But I also have a part time employed job. Does this mean I will end up paying NI contributions twice?

Only if your combined income then goes into the higher tax rate bracket.

@unicornpoopoop I'm in the process of filing my tax for last year. You put your part-time employment figure in, and what you've earned as self-employed and then it works it all out for you. Because I didn't earn enough between both to pay tax or national insurance I don't pay either, although I can voluntarily pay NI. You would pay whatever tax you normally pay once you've used all your allowance up. 20%? There is also a trading allowance of £1000 so if your expenses are less that £1000 you don't pay tax on the first £1000 you've made. (I've explained that badly!) Get proper advice not from me!

@unicornpoopoop register for self cert. My understanding is the first 1k is tax free and then you need to fill it in. As long as it doesn't take you into the next tax bracket, it should be ok. The tax office are really helpful.

Anyone else had an email from Appen saying their contract has been extended for another 6 months? It's not for a particular project, it's just a generic email from Appen support.

@Catatemyhomework Yes that's normal. I guess they deactivate you if you've not been active.
