Has anyone had their mortgage holiday approved?

Hi

I’ve just applied for the Coronavirus 3 month mortgage holiday with NatWest. Obviously being a Saturday, and how busy they will be, I won’t find out if I’ve been approved for a few days. I’ve never missed or been late with a payment, so I should be fine? Just wondering if anyone else has applied and been approved, or if not was declined and why?

Thanks!

I did ours probably 10 days ago with Santander, it was approved a few days later and the direct debit didn’t come out on 1st so it’s all gone though

MaddieElla · 04/04/2020 18:28

Chatter, I wouldn’t do it in a just in case scenario. I would carry on paying as long as I possibly could, then use the holiday when I really needed it.

twinnywinny14 · 04/04/2020 19:04

@Chattercino we have taken it because we are expecting our circumstances to change and I wanted it sorted rather than having to organise it all in a rush etc. We may not need it but I’d rather it that way. We are with NatWest and they spread the payments out over what’s left so the payments after the holiday increase. We pay approx 850 and have 15yrs left so will cost us about £15 a month more after holiday

Did mine with Hsbc online on 27th I th I k and not heard anything yet?
I am salary paid but husband's wage will be dramatically different. Could manage just about but don't want it to be another added worry. Not in arrears so fingers crossed

Littleelffriend · 04/04/2020 20:09

We did it because we expect our circumstances to change. 2 mortgages, NatWest and Nationwide, both approved. There’s no point waiting until you need it, it’s approved for 3 months now, not 6 months down the line so we’re taking it and saving the money

Dontrainonmyparade · 05/04/2020 22:24

NatWest here, completes online but like PP the confirmation email went in my junk mail so definitely check. Took a couple of days.

Smilebehappy123 · 05/04/2020 22:25

I'm with natwest applied by email it took them two weeks to get back to me by which time they couldn't arrange it in time for the 1st April.payment but I was advised by email (check junk folder for emails) that this is now in place for may , june and july

Smilebehappy123 · 05/04/2020 22:27

We didn't actually need it but the uncertainty made us apply , we are just going to put the money into savings account x.

ivenamechangedforthispost · 05/04/2020 22:30

We are with Leeds bank and they approved it pretty much straight away over the phone.

mnahmnah · 09/04/2020 15:56

I still hadn’t had an email or letter today, so I gave them a ring as I was getting worried. It was approved two days ago and a letter is in the post. No idea why some NatWest customers have had an email but others are getting letters! Far quicker and better in the current climate for us to have an email.

Still haven't heard anything from HSBC. No email except for original we have received your form. Shall see what happens as I have a few more days.

mnahmnah · 09/04/2020 20:44

Wow that is quite a wait! At least you had a confirmation email that they were processing it. I didn’t even get that, other than the initial on-screen confirmation. But I started wondering if it definitely said confirmed! I would ring them if I were you.

Kingcole · 09/04/2020 20:44

Yes a week ago Lloyds

crumpetsryummy · 09/04/2020 22:17

I have tried ringing but the wait time is horrendous. Will give it another go tomorrow.

Kingcole · 09/04/2020 22:30

@crumpetsryummy I emailed. It might be easier than waiting on the phone.

CaroleFuckingBaskin · 09/04/2020 22:43

Lloyd's. Said 5 days. Confirmed by text 2 hours after application.

Kingcole · 10/04/2020 09:24

Lloyds have been always been efficient and surprisingly, they sorted this out too, within a day or so.

mnahmnah · 10/04/2020 09:43

@crumpetsryummy

NatWest has a recorded warning that they were very very busy, but actually it wasn’t that long. I didn’t go though the option for ‘Coronavirus’, but for ‘other’, because I wasn’t applying, I was checking on the status. That might help?

Yes we did our Natwest one online on Monday and it was approved Wednesday.

crumpetsryummy · 10/04/2020 09:50

Might give it a go....thanks for advice

Toomuchgoingon · 11/04/2020 12:37

We are with Nationwide and we got instant confirmation as soon as I hit submit. Very impressed

crambosk · 14/04/2020 11:31

when people say they've had a letter through, do they actually mean they've received a breakdown of how the monthly payments are going to change? We applied for our mortgage holiday on March 25th with NatWest, had a confirmation email a few days later (was also found in junk), but still not received any details on how payments have changed? I can't seem to get through on the phone either. what have others experience? next payment date is due on the 1st

crambosk · 14/04/2020 12:32

also i would be interested to hear what people's emails/letters said as ours just said, "Thank you for letting us know you would like a mortgage payment holiday. Your application was made within 14 days of your 01/04/2020 payment date. This means that your mortgage payment holiday will begin after the payment due this week. We will write to confirm this during April." No official wording along the lines of "its been approved" or it will "definitely be going through". Did others receive something similar? Would be curious to hear if others don't mind sharing! thanks

ElephantLover · 14/04/2020 12:46

We applied to Metro by email & got the 'standard' response. Then got a phone call to discuss & agree when do we want it to start.
We are planning to keep money in the account anyways as we don't want DD to fail. If they don't take it - then I guess it's on.

Another bank - emailed 2 weeks ago - radio silence so far.

crambosk · 14/04/2020 22:33

great, thanks for that @ElephantLover :)

would be curious to hear from people with natwest too!.
