Congratulations! I am claiming back £700 from Natwest, just sent my letter back last week, so it's good to hear they are paying out!

pucca · 20/05/2007 08:38

KS... I really thought i would have a battle on my hands, especially the 1st reply back from them, i thought it would be a "get lost" letter or maybe a ridiculous offer.

Has taken them 6/7 weeks though, that is why i phoned them up.

Good luck

god thats good to know! well done!
im on stage 3 of claiming back £1800 from natwest and i ahve had absolutly NO corespondence from them atall. i hand delivered a letter on thursday giving them 2 weeks before i start court proceedings, watch this space.....................

pucca · 20/05/2007 12:12

Thanks MD, the money will thankfully pay for flooring in our new house, i was starting to get stressed thinking we would move and have no carpet on the stairs or anywhere else with a 3 YO and 9 mth old.

Smee, See i don't understand that, i adapted the first letter as i couldn't be arsed pussy footing around, i sent this letter.....

Dear Sir or Madam,

Re. Account number **

I am writing to request that you repay all the default charges that have been applied to my account. I do not believe these charges reflect the true cost to Natwest of going into unauthorised overdraft and for unpaid direct debits.

The charges total £1890.57. I believe I have been unlawfully deprived of the money and therefore ask that you repay me the full amount. I have recently paid for statements dated from 21st Oct 2002 to present day and have a record of all charges made.

If I do not received a satisfactory response, I am writing to inform you I intend to claim the full amount up to the date of judgment and court fees in the proceedings through the county court. This is based on the Unfair Terms in Consumer Contracts Regulations, as I believe these default charges are unfair and not proportionate to your costs, and therefore the court will rule in my favour.

I look forward for a full response to this letter within 14 days otherwise I will commence court proceedings to reclaim my money.
.

Yours faithfully,

I did give them the time to reply, which did take about 6 weeks, after a cuople of weeks from sending the letter i phoned them to see what was happening as i had heard nothing they just said it was being looked into, the yesterday got the letter offering £1865!

Phone them up, it worth a try!

I sent copies of my bank statements highlighting the charges, and sent the letter by recorded delivery.

Well done Pucca! I'm still waiting for a response to my letter claiming £7600 - I know they have received letter because I looked at tracking service on Royal Mail. They are meant to reply by tomorrow. Do you think I should phone them?

pucca · 21/05/2007 12:19

How much time have they had lolly? it took them 6 weeks for me to get my offer, they say they have 8 week time to respond, i would give them a ring and just hurry them a little.

Hope you get it all back, that is alot of money! i thought mine was alot
