Brand new thread for a brand new month.

In which this years bonus cheques will be revealed, which is my favourite time of year.

Thankyou to everyone who has offered words of advice and support. My goal of 5k per month is between two of us so I think with a bit of luck and hard work it could be possible BUT I need to figure out if it's really the issue here, as Whiterangey has highlighted.

The people who mentioned mindfulness, I agree and think I should definitely pursue this.

When I made my certain decision in November last year, I was on a high and enjoyed the freedom and lack of pressure but now I miss the buzz I had when I was passionate and excited.

I didn't just post for advice either, but to continue to document and show the effects of leaving the MLM may have on some once the initial relief subsides.

I'm always open with mental health etc but honestly feel that there is no professionals who would understand at this point in time how to help 'unprogramme' me! I am trying to refocus myself hence exploring my optipns for the future.

I'm just frightened that money will ALWAYS be tight, I don't want my whole life to be spent that way!

YouOKHun · 12/04/2018 23:42

ReformedBot, you could read up on the work of Steven Hassan who is a former member of the Moonies cult who is now a counsellor who specialises in ‘reprogramming’ people who have been trapped by religious or commercial cults. He’s is very anti mlm. I’m a psychotherapist with an interest in the this area and I think there are applications for something called Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy which concentrates on the demands we make on ourselves, others and the world in general; the way we try to impose order on things outside our control and the way we develop low frustration tolerance to difficulty and emotional discomfort - all things that mlm corrupts. I can’t really explain it here but it may well serve you to speak to a neutral person who can challenge some of the ways of thinking and beliefs you’ve absorbed along the way (not a counsellor but a more structured dismantling of thoughts/beliefs/behaviours). Mindfulness is an excellent idea. I like this book

Broke’s new pic holding the bottle of oil is very professionally photoshopped and instilled me with endless confidence he is a professional businessman. Wow.

Whiterangey · 13/04/2018 04:01

Considering that Yawn is number one from the Midlands and got presented with a number 15 poundland glass trophy for being 15th in the UK earlier this year, i'm guessing the others are barely making ends meet.

At the end of March Uber posted a couple of photos showing February's Top 20 non-manager business builders and the Top 20 business builders. The Top 20 business builders had Uber first, Castle second, bloke third. No Yawn, in the top 20 UK FL bots for February.

Smoke and mirrors again.

The top 20 Midlands business builders is not an impressive achievement, more of a participation award.

Apart from Yawn only 2 others got cheques last year. Number 2 on that list got $4500 and number 3 got $11000.

Number 3 is interesting. They got a cheque for $101K in 2015, one for $83K in 2016, and it dropped all the way down to $11K last year.

As expected they were pretty quiet about last years cheque.

They had a company that went into insolvency a few years ago.

ReformedBot, you have been given some very good advice here. I second you reading Steve Hassan’s book. He will make things clearer in your head about what has happened to you.

I wonder if it would help you to think of what you are experiencing as an addiction? You were constantly receiving rewards in the form of promises and feeling good when you thought you were working towards achieving your goals. The sensible part of you realised what was going on and helped you find the courage to leave. However, a part of you remains addicted to the highs and it is natural to want that back.

I think this is the point where some ex bots start looking at other ‘opportunities’ and start convincing themselves that they could make this one work. Then the addiction can be fed again and the person feels better. The fact that they aren’t earning any money doesn’t matter to them, they are getting what they need psychologically.

Watch out for people in MLMs trying to connect with you. They know that you will be feeling like this.

Toobusytowee · 13/04/2018 08:36

Today is the day the ABTA board have their meeting to decide if Inteletravel can be granted membership. Despite what Inteletravel say, it hasn’t been decided yet.

I’ll update you later when I find out what happens.

OhMyGodTheyKilledKenny · 13/04/2018 09:27

Meanwhile, even on her sick bed, Yawn is busy building her team.

No such thing as sick leave or sick pay. The pressure is still there.

Jonsey32 · 13/04/2018 11:43

toobusy
I think you’ve hit the nail on the head with the similarities between MLM and addiction.

As someone who has lived with a prolific gambling addiction I can see the comparison.
The big win is always just round the corner, just invest a bit more and it will pay off, that big win will provide the life that is desired. The reality is so far removed , the hole gets bigger, the dreams won’t be achieved and the debt increases.

entrepeneur · 13/04/2018 12:28

One of Yawnbot's newish recruits boasts that she has made it to Number 4 in Yawn's team achievers list. She admits she has done this on sales alone as she has no recruits. Surely this is an indication of just how little most of yawn's team must be earning if a relative newbie that appears to only be peddling lip balms and face scrub has climbed to the dizzying heights of the leaderboard.

Apparently there are 700 YawnMinions out there and six fresh recruits into the cult. Where does she find all these suckers that haven't heard that MLM and Aloe is a sinking ship?

Spongebobette · 13/04/2018 14:14

And when she says ‘sales’, that can mean she’s bought a load of products herself; remember Uber’s advice to be your own best customer? Replace everything in your house with FL products

Twentytwentyhindsight · 13/04/2018 14:41

It's more than just replace, it's "find out that you have an absolute need for dozens of products you never dreamt of buying before, from food supplements and vitamins, to five types of moisturiser or scrub".

My OH would actually count these as 'sales' in her accounts, as it went a long way to achieving the required CCs.

After being stuffed with and slathered in any number of unnecessary concoctions, my kids are grateful FL never did a colonic irrigation kit...

Norma27 · 13/04/2018 16:22

Is yawn off to Dallas soon? I’m glad she mentioned it a few times today or I would never have realised! She has kept that very quiet. NOT!

entrepeneur · 13/04/2018 18:18

@Spongebobette Yes you're probably right about the Bot getting high on her own supply, she frequently posts photos of her large stash of aloe gunk for personal use. There was a video of two baskets of the products - so much mismatched branding and outdated design. Looks truly awful, like pound shop tat

darceybussell · 13/04/2018 20:45

Thrilled to bits huns. A bloke I haven't seen in ten years has sent me an unsolicited Facebook message trying to recruit me into Nu Skin. His girlfriend does it, appears outwardly to have done quite well as she has just been on a 'free' trip to Utah, and it would appear has now also recruited him.

He hasn't even bothered to tailor it, he's just copied and pasted the same shit generic message, presumably to everyone on his Facebook friends list. Surely that's one of the first rules of MLM now - don't send shite copied and pasted messages to everyone you've ever met!

BangingOn · 13/04/2018 20:57

Assume you’ve said yes darcey? Sounds like an amazing opportunity.

Norma is there a conference? I had no idea. I did go to Dallas last year on a conference with my JOB and it was shit. Far too hot, my hair went frizzy like Monica in Friends, I nearly got gout from all the red meat and our big conference hotel was in the middle of nowhere so it felt like posh house arrest.

entrepeneur · 13/04/2018 21:32

@BangingOn Chuckling at "posh house arrest". I have been to Dallas but never Utah. Is there much fun to be had there?

BangingOn · 13/04/2018 21:47

Utah has never sounded like much fun to me.

The JP crowd are all in a tizz about their Birmingham conference. The 39 Club are being taken out to a special dinner where they will be ‘treated like royalty’. Looking at the venue I think there’s a good chance it’s a medieval themed dinner, not quite as sophisticated as they are making it sound.

Whiterangey · 13/04/2018 21:47

A friend from Texas came over here and we met up. It was a beautiful summer day. She laughed at us British saying it was really really hot. Texas is SERIOUSLY HOT. It's currently 29 degrees celsius at the moment.

Adults can deal with whatever, I don't care about the adults going, I do hope the weather cools down a bit for the sake of the children and babies who go, and there are no storms or tornadoes or whatever else Texas is fond of throwing at people. Texans are used to the weather, we are not. They mostly live inside when the weather starts to get warmer, like reverse hibernation.

I don't understand why people buy the expensive FL products, you can get better products for so much less. I'm a member of a certain Facebook non MLM beauty group where people get seriously excited when they find something in Primark or Aldi or Superdrug that performs just as well as something 10 times as expensive. Which is how it should be. Not as excited as I get when i'm receiving parcels full of cheap stuff i've bought on recommendations from others.

I’ve been to Salt Lake City. The alcohol laws there are quite restrictive - you have to be a ‘member’ of a bar to be allowed to buy an alcoholic drink.

Whiterangey · 14/04/2018 10:09

Good Morning everyone! Salon has some advice to brighten your day!

It may get brutal though.

Same bullshit different day.

This goes on for another 9 days! I feel so inspired.

I am really interested in the Bots who do the attraction marketing piece well, because some of them really do. I follow one Poonique bot who is an award winning florist so is clearly very talented with a great eye for colour and a lot of experience in styling. Her photos are always beautiful, she applies the make up subtlety and it looks great on her. Her posts aren’t full of the usual brash MLM #obsessivelygrateful nonsense and she comes across as a lovely person. She is very attractive and articulate. To me, she is the most dangerous type. as her style is subtler and to the untrained eye you would barely realise she is involved in an MLM, whereas she is actually somewhere near the top of the pyramid.

This is why these threads are so important, helping unsuspecting people spot a Bot and an MLM then understanding how destructive they can be.

ArbunneHun · 14/04/2018 13:48

Eeek huns! Broke got a 3-figure weekly bonus! He scribbled most of the amount out, but it looks like he racked up just over $100...

Oh, mate. Just get a bloody job already. You can’t feed your family on that.

Twentytwentyhindsight · 14/04/2018 14:04

@Arbunne, I think it was one of his teamies that tagged him in her post.
Given that she has seven kids, it's not going to stretch very far.
I guess Broke hasn't reached the dizzying heights of a three-figure bonus yet, as he can't afford a car with a broken exhaust.

Twentytwentyhindsight · 14/04/2018 14:15

That post is so sad to read. She is genuinely grateful for that cash. It is honest and a world away from the attraction marketing put out by slicker bots.
This is the reality for a bot, one who believes she is successful at that...
