particuarly interested to know if you're a single parent with 3 young children living in a small 3 bedroom midterrace with gas central heating.

Trying to work out how much I'm going to be paying a month for my utilities (already know how much TVL, Council Tax and phone are going to cost) - at the moment I'm working it out based on a 2 adults and 2 children in a large 3 bedroom end of terrace (with gas central heating) - but I'm guessing it won't be quite as much?????

Not single parent, but 2 adults & a toddler.

Water 30.00 per month.
Gas 60 pm (has been 90 before now)
Electric 52 per month (recently gone up from 30 quid)

fannyannie · 06/01/2007 12:45

blimey that's more than we currently pay !

am in large 3 bed victorian terrace

UCM · 06/01/2007 12:49

Just recently I got my calor gas fire down from the loft though in an attempt to get this down a bit. I thought that if we want heating in the evening we could have that on in front room rather than the rads on which tend to heat up the whole house.

I have also started wearing more clothes indoors to get our heating bill down a bit. When we were paying 90.00 pm for gas that was shocking. We are with British Gas as I am waiting to see if the other companies put their prices up this month before changing.

DimpledThighs · 06/01/2007 12:56

simliar to UCM and feels like far too much. Will try and cut down on heating but am used to being warm. Good idea to heat just one room.

Roobie · 06/01/2007 12:59

3 bedroom detached house, like it like a furnace, pay £104 pm for gas and elec.

TwoToTango · 06/01/2007 13:44

Similar to UCM but a 2 bed semi - 2 adults and 1 child. Water £28 pm, Gas - £60pm, Elec - £50 pm. Pay monthly by DD which didn't quite cover the gas bill this quarter but am hoping it will balance out with less useage over the summer.

I have just changed suppliers as I was paying £80pm for Gas and £60pm for Elec with B Gas.

UCM · 06/01/2007 15:23

Who did you end up going with Twototango?

TwoToTango · 06/01/2007 15:45

Atlantic (I went on USwitch). Only just had first bill, considering it was a winter one they do seem to work out cheaper (partic for gas)and also every 12 months you stay with them you get a months payment back.

PinkTulips · 06/01/2007 15:49

gas - 10 euro in summer, about 40 in winter

water - we don't pay for over here

electricity - last bill was 250 euros for 2 months but i've gotten strict with dp about the tv being on an bought loads of cfl bulbs etc so won't be having a repeat of that!

this is great thanks everyone - gives me a better picture of how much those costs will be (I'm sure they're not going to be higher than what we - well I actually - am currently paying and it's good to see that some pay quite a bit less).
