Matched Betting

I've started this the absence of anyone else starting a thread on the subject and since the Chat thread will disappear in a month. Hope you think it's in the right place.

I'm still dithering which is annoying me. I've made a new e-mail - hope to get bank account this week. I keep looking at the different websites like Bonus Bagging and Profit Accumulator etc and can't decide between them. Put off by what Tawny said about Profit Maximiser and don't trust myself to do it without help so going for Bonus Bagging, i think.

Hi, am new to matched betting and am working my way through the free offers. Can anyone walk me through how the losing first bet refund offer works? If your first bet wins but you have laid it off, how do you gain anything?

joyfulworld · 16/05/2016 07:59

fizzbozz - You calculator the first bet as a SNR instead of a SR bet. Then you profit, whatever happens :)

You could at least offer some help and advice before you put your affiliate link on the thread. You have to pay to advertise on MN

Alisvolatpropiis · 18/05/2016 18:47

I'm on Profit Accumulator and don't seem to be doing it right. I always seem to just end up "even" rather than up. It has not been the successful month I was hoping for.

Am I being stupid?

@Alisvolatpropiis how are you getting on? Did you manage to sort that out?

BettyOctopus · 24/05/2016 18:20

Hope you managed to get it sorted, I was really sceptical at first but had a biggish win last week from a casino offer :) definitely seems to work if you keep going

Hawkmoth · 24/05/2016 18:38

Looking to do a bit of this while on ML, what are thoughts on waiting for Euro 2016 to start? Is it likely to yield better offers?

BettyOctopus · 24/05/2016 19:58

I think some of the bookies will have enhanced sign up offers for the euros plus there's offers starting to be promoted now

Hawkmoth · 24/05/2016 20:30

Thanks, will have a look around to get a feel for things.

freshprincess · 24/05/2016 21:56

I've been losing my MB mojo a little over the last couple of months. PRoft in April was just £88. I've been through most of the sign ups, and I'm finding the reloads a lot more work. I've had a good month with horse refunds (although one free bet expired before I got to use it grrrr) but it's just too time consuming to sit in front of my PC all day Saturday.

Hawkmith - I'd wait for the Euros to start. Football betting is the easiest thing to understand, the odds are pretty stable and you can do it all hours before the matches. Horses can be a bit stressful, even when you know what you're doing, the odds change so quickly.

Still haven't done any bingo offers yet.

Bree85 · 25/05/2016 09:45

There are some great sign up offers already (and regular ones for account holders) for euro 2016 already starting to come out.

freshprincess, are you using a race matcher? www.comparematchedbetting.co.uk, odds monkey have one and just released a tennis matcher as well for the french open. Saves loads of time.

MrsBetfair · 29/05/2016 19:30

I've just started in the last couple of weeks (taking it slowly!). I have been using the Save the Student Guide and have gone through the first few free bets which use the auto matcher. After those the auto matcher doesn't work and you need to select your own bets.

I'm finding that it's taking me ages to find a bet with close odds on Betfair Exchange and another site. Any tips on how to make this quicker/easier? (Am also nervous about getting it wrong when I select bets myself Blush).

austenozzy · 29/05/2016 19:55

The odds search tool on oddsmonkey is pretty good. You can refine by exchange, bookie, odds, sports, etc. Some really good prices to be had.

freshprincess · 29/05/2016 20:14

When I'm doing a qualifying bet I usually do football as there's always a match around 1.5/2ish
For fhe Free bet I usually put it on a horse as they're about 4/5ish. Horses move quick and youmusually have to wait 15/20 mins before the start.

After you've been doing it for a few months you can get a feel for a close-ish matches.

I have to confess, I regularly cheat on you with Mr Smarkets!

Hello Ladies

Matched betting is a good source of extra money, especially as it's tax-free! I joined a great service called Profit Squirrel. Anyone else using them? The site is super helpful and easy to use. Learning and earning is very simple. I joined 6 weeks ago made £546. Would love to hear if anyone has joined Profit Squirrel or considering...

modestmother · 30/05/2016 10:43

Hawkmoth · 30/05/2016 15:32

Just going through my second lot of bets and got ten pound casino bonus. Only gone and won £350! Get in my bank!

freshprincess · 30/05/2016 18:08

Wow! What offer is that? My best is £140 on a Betfair casino offer. Funny enough they don't offer me them anymore.

Hawkmoth · 30/05/2016 18:57

It was free ten pounds on paddy power casino. Didn't think I'd get anything because it has a 40x wagering bonus and so wasn't really paying attention until it all popped into my cash balance!

austenozzy · 30/05/2016 23:07

Modest, what do you get for 25 quid a month that can't be found in the various forums, match searches and calculators online? I assume you have to click their affiliate links? Do they offer cash back? Have you ever been gubbed? Interested to hear what they can do for you.

austenozzy · 31/05/2016 07:54

(Didn't mean for that to sound so arsey, sorry!)

fizzbozz · 02/06/2016 22:18

I'm still struggling with the Lost Bet Refund offers. Please can someone tell me what I am doing wrong.

My first bet (put in the calculator as a SNR bet, odds around 4.00) lost. I bet £30 and won £20.13, so that was a loss of £9.87.

£30 losing bet refunded. Did the calculator (also as a SNR bet, odds around 2.00) and ended up with £16.38 (£28.50-£12.12). Taking into account the £9.87 loss from the original bet, that's just a £6.51 profit from a £30 bet. Please can someone enlighten me about what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks :)

austenozzy · 03/06/2016 16:02

Fizz, the risk free bet ones should give profit on both since you can underlay.

Here's a link to a strategy description. This site also has z good calculator.

In this case the qualie best is the third radio button option on the form, then the free bet is the free bet one. You should go for longer odds as the returns are greater.
