How long after miscarriage did preg test show "negative"

I think I have had a miscarriage over the past 2 days - cramping, red blood followed by brown, then black stringy clotty bits, and total absence of pregnancy symptoms.

However there has not been much blood, but I think that is because I am only about 5 weeks. GP has said no point going to EPU as it is too early in preg for a sac to show, even if I was still pregnant, and that I should just wait and do a preg test in a few days.

But I am impatient and I want to know now one way or theother - so I can either move on, or become happy again about being pregnant.

Does anyone know how quickly a negative test would show if I have indeed miscarried?

Hi... Sorry, its a long post but will really appreciate if you read.
So I found out at my 12 week scan that I'd had a missed miscarriage as there was no heartbeat and no growth since about 8 weeks.
Because my body wasn't 'dealing with it', medical management was apparently the best option (d&c not an option due to Covid 19). I ended up being in hospital from Monday 9am until midnight Tuesday as first rounds of meds (3 sets of tablets) and a few horrific examinations didn't work, so I got a 2nd round of meds (2 sets of tablets) - I was an emotional mess throughout, and I have to say I felt neglected over the 39 hours I was there. For instance at one point they decided I should be fasting, but no one told me, they just left me to starve and just never came back whenever I asked for a cup of tea.
3 weeks later and still bleeding since being in hospital, I took a pregnancy test and it returned positive.
Back to hospital, had a scan which showed a small clot or amount of tissue left, but not large enough to take direct action. They gave me antibiotics (even though no other signs of infection) to take for a week then another test to take. The doctor didn't even see me, just wrote a prescription in between a number of social calls and chats with the nurses that I could hear from where I was.
Almost a week later, I'm almost though the course of antibiotics, still bleeding and absolutely dreading taking another pregnancy test.
I feel broken and I feel completely failed by the NHS (I'm in Scotland).
If youre still reading... Thank you! And Has anyone had an experience like this? When I asked what might happen if, after a week on antibiotics, I am still bleeding and positive test - nurses refused to answer.
I understand Covid 19 makes things difficult but all I keep seeing it how 'the NHS is still open' and they want people to go, but I feel SO let down. I maybe understand my I miscarriaged, but I do not understand why something so awful has been made worse at every turn, whether that's because my body is failing me or carers just don't seem to care.

I just thought I'd let you know you aren't alone. I too have been thru the ringer the past few months with the hospital. It's my 3rd miscarriage. First was 8 weeks MMC and had a d&c, 2nd was a traumatic 16 week miscarriage where I had early labour in hospital and then was rushed to surgery with blood loss, and this time was a twins loss around 6 weeks. I've had To go back to the EPU 3 times (every 2 weeks) and each time wait in the car covid 19 protocol has been awful. No husband's allowed. I've been sent home twice to wait for them to pass naturally and sent home with medical management last Thursday finally after 6 weeks of waiting. The staff are trying very hard to be supportive, but the added stress of every visit has my anxiety levels thru the roof each time I go back.

I'm praying that these pills have worked, and o did pass clots after a painful Thursday, but it's hard to tell for sure without going into hospital for a 4th scan. The emotional and physical exhaustion is real.

Oh and @Jenkison85 my first miscarriage took about 4 weeks to get a negative pregnancy test and 15 months (yes that's right) for another period. That part is very very rare, and the second miscarriage had my next period come back 4 weeks later like clockwork, even though it was much more serious.

Hi ladies, I'm new to MN. Long story cut short. I have PCOS and absent periods. I did a pregnancy test on 12th june and it was positive... I was surprised but so happy! (My previous pregnancy was successful but I didnt know I was pregnant until I was 17 weeks) I wss booked in for an EP scan this friday as we dont know how far along I am, the clearblue digital said 1-2 weeks. However on 16th june I started bleeding, i rushed myself off to A&E as thats what the EPU advised. They did a urine test and that came up negative the Dr was blunt and just said I'm having a miscarriage and I'll have a period now. The bleeding has continued but I'm not filling up a pad all day. I have some cramps but nothing more than what I had last week which is what pushed me to do the test in the first place. I'm now having a scan tomorrow to find out what is going on. I haven't passed any tissue or big clots either...and i re tested my urine today and it's still positive. Could it be that its implantation bleeding? Or because I haven't had a period in 11 months that my body is trying to clear out so pregnancy can progress?? I'm so confused :( I'm realistic that it's likely I've miscarried but just holding out for a miracle

Update. I had my internal scan today and have been told that they are treating it as a pregnancy of unknown location and miscarriage. They took a sample of tissue which came out (sorry TMI) and will send that to the lab. I've had blood done today too to see the level of my HCG.

What happened?I am getting this now but it's a faint positive line I had a miscarriage 10 days ago and got a negative result at doctors 8 days ago now I'm getting a faint line on a clear blue

Hi all. Sorry to jump on such an old thread. I’m hoping there is still someone out there.....

I had to have a medicated MC over a week ago - had a scan at 8 +3 weeks my pregnancy stopped at 5 weeks. I am desperate to see a negative test now just to be able to feel some normalcy. ( I don’t want to offend any one but it’s upsetting seeing a positive and knowing it’s just hormones)
I had to have tablets to stop the pregnancy hormones before the medication to begin the MC as i was still feeling so pregnant.
My body feels some what normal again ( pre pregnancy normal! ) But today my boobs and nipples feel sensitive again. Is this normal?
I haven’t had intercourse since the week I medicated - but I did before. I couldn’t have gotten pregnant then could I? Obviously not as my cervix was closed and my body thought it was pregnant right,, ??? I know I’m just being silly and clinging on to stupid shit. But I just need to hear some sensible things. I have so much going on in my head I don’t know what to think and what’s hormonal 😭

Hi, I know this is an old post, so basically 4 weeks ago I was told I had an early MC and my hcg levels had gone to 3 with a negative test but 12 hours before I was postive, And a clear blue test was saying 1-2 i had no bleeding etc until couple days later then only bleed for 1 day.
Now 1 month on it’s saying I’m pregnant had blood etc to confirm and my hcg levels are 455 so that would mean I’m around 4 weeks even tho the new clear blue test is now saying 2-3 I’m so confused did I have a MC or is this a new pregnancy. Hopefully someone can help me out here
