12 weeks bleeding and clots - how to prepare?

Hello,
I am 12 weeks today and been bleeding since wednesday. It is getting heavier and last night I passed small clots.

I have a scan today to check, but the symptoms are not looking good.

Can you help me prepare what to expect. If it is a miscarriage do you just have to cope at home or do they keep you in hospital?

Any help or advice would be welcome.

@Worriedmum9999 hope you got through the night ok? @SnookyPook It is certainly mixed feelings when AF comes but a great sign that your body is starting to resettle. Xx

Morning! Hope you got through the night ok @Worriedmum9999. Aw yes, I found it a huge comfort to snuggle my DS. Hope you're doing ok.

@tulipsunday thank you, yes, it is a relief.

@tulipsunday @SnookyPook the night was pretty bad, ramg the unit see if thry can prescribe anything stronger and they said no, what is happening is going in to labour and it will get better once the baby is passed.

I asked an estimate time and she said all women are different.

I survived the night, but didnt sleep as the pains are so often. Hoping it gets easier at some point today. X

@Worriedmum9999 ah bless you, I hope the worst is over soon. Have you got lots of support? Is your little boy aware of what's going on? Hope you're ok. X

@Worriedmum9999 sorry to hear you had a rough night hope you are being well looked after at home xx

@SnookyPook @tulipsunday my little boy is autistic and wasnt aware I was pregnant. My husband is taking on all the parenting so i can rest in bed, so plenty of support at home.

The pains are still here but less frequent, which is good. I think the heavy bleeding has begun today, it was lighter yesterday.

My worry is a fear of not clearing everything out naturally and not knowing if that makes sense x

@Worriedmum9999 Yes definitely good to get a scan to check after as it can be hard to know. Think I had mine about a week after the miscarriage started at the early pregnancy unit. Although not pleasant good that the bleeding has ramped up a bit and that your body is doing what it needs to do x

Worriedmum9999 · 20/05/2023 14:28

@tulipsunday yes, I feel better seeing more bleeding if that mskes sense, as I know it is clearing out and hopefully wont need the surgery treatment.

Im at the unit for bloods on wed, so will see if they can scan me instead of thursday.

@Worriedmum9999 how are you doing this evening? Glad your husband is so supportive. It makes a massive difference 💕

Hi Everyone, so miscarriage turned quite dramatic. The severe pain resulted in flooding blood so much it soaked through 2 pads at once, clothes and was still running down my legs. I ran to the bathroom and rang early pregnancy who told me to go A&E. I flooded two more times on the way, and huge clots were passed.

The doctor looked and the baby(tissue) was still inside so booked for surgery the next day. The next day my surgery kept being delayed and I was an emotional panicked mess, just crying constantly and scared I would flood again.

Managed to get surgery at 7pm and when I came round I felt a relief of pressure in my abdomen.

It wasn't a smooth ride and I had to fight to be given simple leaflets and numbers for extra support.

I still keep getting twinges in my womb and have one more week till I have to take the pregmamcy test to confirm all is negative.

Being a woman is not fun sometimes!!

Hope you are all ok xx

@Worriedmum9999 oh goodness that does sound dramatic. So sorry you had a bad experience. Glad you're almost through the other side now. Hope you get the all clear from your test and then you can properly start moving on from it all. Big hugs to you. Hope you're doing ok on the emotional front. Xx

Worriedmum9999 · 03/06/2023 14:02

@SnookyPook I am doing ok, I have my moments and I think we all will when we have suffered a loss. But i am really trying to focus on being grateful for small things each day, to stop me going down a spiral.

Im quite fearful of the first period. Dont want it to hurt too much as I have heavy periods anyway. So fingers crossed that comes and goes with no drama.

Hope you are doing well also xx
