Ovulation after MC

Hi everyone, I had a MC at 6 weeks on 06/04 passed naturally with bleeding finishing after 7 days. We decided to start trying again straight away so have been using OPK’s as I did before this pregnancy. Usually get positive OPK on day 16 like clockwork but CD18 today and not even a hint. I know it’s early days still but for those who do use OPKs/temp when did you first ovulate after MC? I’ve started temping too which was a bit erratic at first but I was taking a hot water bottle to bed and getting hot so not worried about that too much.

Hi everyone. I'm so sorry for your losses. I had an mmc earlier this month at 6+5, though the nurse thought maybe it'd happened at 5 weeks or thereabouts so very early.

I miscarried naturally and the bleeding had stopped completely within 7 days. I'd lost symptoms so I new my hcg levels were plummeting. I got a negative pregnancy test around 5 or 6 days later.

I started with OPKs right after my bleeding stopped, and I hit my peak on 24th, meaning I probably ovulated yesterday. I had ovulation cramps and discharge, so I can believe it happened.

The miscarriage was awful but given it was straightforward medically speaking we decided to go for it and try again. So now I'm in the TWW. We caught on our first cycle trying, which resulted in the miscarriage, so now I'm thinking it'd be too lucky to fall again straight after. I guess we'll see.

@Katierose34 hmm I'm sorry I can't help you more. I'm really not too clued up on anything like that. Hopefully Thursday will come round quick for you. Just try and relax (physically, I know mentally relaxing is almost impossible at times like this) and keep yourself well.

@weathervane123 me and my partner got caught pregnant on our first month of TTC also and I think I'm expecting it to happen again quickly due to that. But I'm going into the whole thing with an open mind and trying to get used to the idea that it might not be so easy just in case

Hi all. So sorry for all of your recent losses. I also miscarried recently. I don't know if I am going doolally (as I certainly haven't had time to process everything), but I am so keen to start trying again when it is safe to do so. I am gutted as I had pinned so many hopes and dreams on a Christmas baby, and that's all dwindled. I was lucky as my periods were regular plus/minus a day or so pre-miscarriage, so am hopeful they resume. I see some of you are tracking bbt/using OPKs. I think I will too, especially this month so that I know my body is in working order again.

I went for my scan today and the specialist recommended waiting for my next full period before trying again because then everything is fully "refreshed" ready for a baby 😊

Just an update. I got a very faint line on two pregnancy tests this afternoon. So I guess I ovulated around 2 and half weeks after the start of the MC from what I've worked out.

I'm really shocked as I didn't think it would happen so quickly especially as we were lucky to be pregnant in our first month last time. Plus we've only dtd 3 times. Obviously I'm now the most nervous person in the world. It's like happiness seeing the line but now I'm just full of worry that it will end up like the last time. It's a long road ahead now and I feel helpless. Will just have to sit back and hope for the best.

I hope you don't all think I'm telling you all for any other reason than to share hope for us all with our future pregnancies. We've all lost recently and tbh it's still raw for me as it will be for you guys. It's a feeling I'd never wish on anyone but here's to hoping for our sticky babies 🤞🌈

Congratulations @bages1977 that’s lovely news. Personally I find it really encouraging hearing about BFPs post MC so thank you for sharing. Keeping everything crossed that it’s the stickiest of babies 🤞🏻

I had a medically managed miscarriage 11 days ago at 8.5 weeks, measuring at 6.5 weeks. Still testing positive currently. Sorry if I missed it, but did you all test negative for HCG after mc? I'm waiting for this to happen to me so I can predict ovulation. I'm going for a scan on Friday to check everything has passed and there's no remaining tissue. Are there any signs other than positive HCG test for unfinished miscarriage? No cramping and barely spotting now.

@Ell17 I did a test 2 weeks after my MC which confirmed negative. I think my numbers went down quickly though as they were down to 10 when I had my second lot of bloods to confirm the MC.

I've just been told to test three weeks after mc but I'm impatient hence the early testing 🤦🏻‍♀️
I'm UK and they don't tend to track HCG via bloods annoyingly. Just got to go by home testing.

@Ell17 well I only had a blood test on the day the MC started and then 2 days after to make sure that it was the cause of bleeding and that's when they told me they were at 10. Then I just got told to home test from there.

I think I must have lost the pregnancy maybe a week before bleeding for the levels to be so low so quickly though.

I'm very impatient too and would probably test before the 3 weeks was up!

I got a negative around 5 days into my mc but it wasn’t a super sensitive test so maybe my levels were still higher than 5 hence the delay?

OPK the same today, hoping this isn’t a sign of something being wrong or an anovulatory cycle.

@Haiyaa I've read it's quite common to not necessarily ovulate before first period post mc. So don't worry ♥️

Update: CD 22 and no peak on OPK yet but I have just had EWCM! I usually get it 2-3 days before ovulation so still hopeful!

Thanks @bages1977, just a little update: peak LH today and static smile on the clear blue. Nearly a week exactly after I would normally get one. Going to try temping to see if I actually ovulate.

Hi @Haiyaa I have come back to this thread as I am now currently on CD19 and haven’t had a peak yet properly although usually would on CD17 prior to miscarriage, I had a small peak two days ago but have since dropped down again, maybe it was trying to be on time but wasn’t ready. I am in the same position as you worrying about whether this will be an anovulatory cycle as I said I would, however remembered this post so have came back to read that yours was a week late and have relaxed. How many DPO are you now?

Did you find your OPK levels to be all over the place, mine can be anywhere between 0.1-0.6 averagely at the moment. Was your peak as strong as before?

Hi @catinthehat12 - just jumping in to add a different spin 👋😜Tomorrow is 3 weeks since my mc and I'm currently CD21 2DPO, based on a peak on OPK on Monday. I'm not temping (stresses me out!) but Fertility Friend app is saying I ovulated Tues. I had all the usual signs; EWCM, constipation and my LH levels went up to 1.94 - highest ever recorded for me. Really keeping my fingers crossed. And also hope you get some clarity with your cycle also.

Hi @catinthehat12, yes I got a peak around a week after I normally would, still as strong as normal. Have a bit of a discrepancy as I tried temping and spiked day after surge started so I would be 8dpo but my LH didn’t come down until a day later so Femometer has put me at 6dpo. I’m inclined to go with 8 but will test on Saturday when I will be between 8-10dpo.

Let us know how you get on, I’m trying to chill out but it’s not really working and I am doing all my usual symptom spotting!

My HCG was very strong for at least 4-5 days post miscarriage, it was only about a week after MC when I started getting faint positives so I should expect my cycle to be out by a few days but still isn’t comforting me enough

Keep in touch with how you go, I will update should I ever get a positive OPK or perhaps even my period if I did ovulate at my minor peak.

Hey girls - I'm 5DPO currently and today I've noticed a metallic like sensation in my mouth? Is this something you've ever experienced? It's pretty constant. I wouldn't say I can taste metal, but it's more the feeling/sensation after having metal in my mouth 🤷🏻‍♀️

So sorry for your losses I have also had MC 6 weeks into pregnancy. I was bleeding for 10 days, (2 days ago) as soon as it completed stopped I was surprised to see ( TMI) white stretchy discourage. I tested OPK it showed a faint line. Is this normal? I want to start TTC straight away not sure.
