Heavy Bleeding at 6 weeks

I have a scan booked for Friday.
I’m 8 weeks pregnant and had a heavy bleed 10 days ago. It lasted around 4 hours, I had no pain but quite a few clots. I knew straight away what it was....

I still feel pregnant and have strong positive tests.

I am fully prepared for the worst as I know it is more likely a miscarriage then a miracle but I would love to hear any positive stories of people who have had a heavy bleed and it’s worked out ok.

Don’t worry about getting my hopes up, I’m very realistic but I would just love to try and keep positive.

Hi SamlDN

Interesting to read about your experience. Was there clotting? Did it feel different to a period? Did you have cramping.

Currently also 6 weeks and feel like I’m going through a bad period (lots of prolonged cramping and normal period bleeding).

Hi all, just wanted to give an update from a visit to A&E at UCLH who referred me right away to the early pregnancy unit (also at UCLH but referral only on Sunday). Sadly my bleeding really was a miscarriage.

I would really really encourage anyone bleeding during their pregnancy to go to their early pregnancy unit as soon as they can, even if you cannot get through to them via telephone or email (my case). And if the early pregnancy unit isn't available to got o A&E even if you feel like you aren't an "emergency". It was so helpful to be seen by a gyno and to have a thorough check-up and ultrasound. Eventhough the result was not what I had hoped for, just the clarity of what was really going on was super reassuring for me.

Its the care we all deserve when we are in such a vulnerable position!

Hi
I'm hoping to get some advice/know what to expect.
I wasn't aware I was pregnant until Saturday just gone, and prior to that I had, had spotting, which I thought was my period starting - I think this might of just been the implantation, however I had quite a big bleed on the Wednesday prior to me finding out. It leaked through my pants onto my jeans, I've also had a large bleed on Tuesday just gone - I wasn't wearing any pants but it was IMO a lot of blood. It went all down my leg and through my trousers too. I do have photos if that would help? On both occasions before the bleed I had a lot of "period pain"

The GP won't refer me for a scan yet as I'm not six weeks pregnant

Thank you in advance for helping

@LaurieBump I’d highly recommend just walking into your early pregnancy unit and getting a scan there. No point having you worry about this when there’s care out there for you that you deserve. Everything might be fine, but getting it checked out is safest and will give you peace of mind!

Hi
When we spoke with the receptionist at the doctors she basically said that it would be pointless until I am six weeks as no heart beat yet anyway.
I'm also trying to find out if I'm able to have anybody with me at the hospital due to covid regulations but haven't been able to confirm and the thought of being on my own is quite daunting
