Heavy Bleeding at 6 weeks

SamLDN · 06/01/2021 20:09

I have a scan booked for Friday.
I’m 8 weeks pregnant and had a heavy bleed 10 days ago. It lasted around 4 hours, I had no pain but quite a few clots. I knew straight away what it was....

I still feel pregnant and have strong positive tests.

I am fully prepared for the worst as I know it is more likely a miscarriage then a miracle but I would love to hear any positive stories of people who have had a heavy bleed and it’s worked out ok.

Don’t worry about getting my hopes up, I’m very realistic but I would just love to try and keep positive.

I bled quite a lot early pregnancy at 4, 6, 8 and 9 weeks some of it red! What was the amount of blood like ? Xx

Spanglebangle · 06/01/2021 21:48

I did. Very heavy lots of clots. Ended up in hospital. That was almost 10 years ago. My 9 year old is fast asleep upstairs. It doesn't always end badly.

Good luck!

SamLDN · 06/01/2021 22:01

Thank you...

Did they tell you what cased the bleeding?

@Faye32 it wasn’t like a period. It was more watered down but there was a lot of it. I didn’t actually know I was pregnant at the time. The doctor told me to do a test after it happened....

If I had known it would’ve been enough for me to have gone to the hospital

Morning, mine was something to do with how the baby was implanting -I went for a private scan and you could see where the blood was actually coming from but like I say I kept having blood on and off for weeks not quite period amount but not far off x are you still testing ? I’m sure the tests would be starting to fade after 10 days but don’t quote me on that xx

SamLDN · 07/01/2021 11:38

@Faye32 yep still testing a strong positive....
thank you for sharing your story with me!
In 24 hours I will know one way or another so just trying to remain positive. Prepare for the worst and hope for the best xx

Iv got everything crossed for you and I think the strong positives must be a good thing ! Please update when you know ... what times your scan xx

October2020 · 07/01/2021 12:48

50% of bleeding ends in a baby so it isn't all over necessarily. I had multiple haemorrhages from 6 to 14 weeks, really REALLY bad and every time was convinced there was no way a baby could have stayed stuck, but she's gurgling away on her play mat at the moment.

Novice32 · 07/01/2021 13:11

Hope you don't mind me jumping on but I'm watching this with interest. I've been bleeding lightly (but heavier than spotting) for 11 days now. Initially thought it was just an early period, but did a test on Mon when I realised it wasn't a normal period and test was positive.
I'm booked in for a scan this coming Monday, but based on my last pd I'd only be 5 weeks so might be too early to see what's happening/happened. Bit nervous due to previous cervical ectopic.

I am also expecting bad news but there is always that hope that bleeding doesn't mean the worst.

All the best for tomorrow @SamLDN my fingers are crossed for you

SamLDN · 07/01/2021 13:48

Thank you so much guys...

This is what I needed, lots of positivity!
My scan is at 10am so I’ll let you all know how it goes.

Fingers crossed x

Any updates ? Xx

SamLDN · 08/01/2021 12:19

@Faye32 my little miracle is still in there and heart is beating. I am measuring 6 weeks 5 days so my dates where a week out.

They showed me what has turned out to be a subchorionic haematoma.

I am going to google as I don’t know much about it but they said that there is no reason it should affect the pregnancy.

Going back in 2 weeks to make sure everything is still ok.

I’m honestly in shock.

I was so prepared for the worst.

Thank you everyone for your positive stories and words!

It’s still early days but right now we are all good :)

Brilliant news @SamLDN you must be so relieved!

Congratulations and fingers crossed xx

October2020 · 08/01/2021 14:12

That's what I had. I had a LOT more bleeding but baby is here and fine now x

October2020 · 08/01/2021 14:13

As in, a lot more after the first bleed. So be prepared!

Faye32 · 08/01/2021 15:24

You know what I had a feeling it would be fine because you were still getting the strong positives etc as in they weren’t fading out ! Delighted for you , try and relax, enjoy now x x

SamLDN · 08/01/2021 19:39

@October2020 yes they said that there could be more bleeding.... I’ll try not to let it stress me out. At least I will now have regular scans. Will have one in 2 weeks and then 12 week scan 2 weeks after that.... it was a relief to see it on the scan and how far away it is from the baby.

Fingers crossed it all goes well for me like it did you x

Me in both my pregnancies. A proper gush of blood and then bleeding for a couple of days (and later on too). Luckily it all turned out fine. Very glad you've had some good news, I know how stressful it all is (I started dreading going to the loo).

Itsjustme3 · 08/01/2021 20:03

Brilliant news

santabetterwashhishands · 08/01/2021 20:47

Great news x
My daughter had huge bleeds a lot throughout both her pregnancies and both were fine x

SamLDN · 22/02/2021 01:39

Just thought I would update in case anyone stumbles across this searching with the same issues.

I’m now 13 weeks and baby is doing good! :)

After that one big bleed I only had spotting and the haematoma was cleared up by my 8 week scan!

If you are reading this and you’ve just had a big bleed! Please go to get it checked out and don’t think the worse until you do! I spent 10 days thinking I’d had a miscarriage because everything I read was pointing to that! When I tell you this bleed was heavy! It’s was like nothing I’ve ever experienced in my life!! It was unbelievable....

And it didn’t affect my pregnancy at all.

So please stay positive :)
