Threatened miscarriage at 5weeks??

Can anyone share with me their experiences? I feel lost and probably that a miscarriage is imminent but I'll share from the beginning.
I've had endometriosis in the past with ablation and had my DS. we started trying again and I have had 2 very early losses in October and November and found out I was pregnant on boxing day. I did pregnancy tests every day out of anxiety that I would lose and they consistently got stronger and stronger. I got up this morning for work and went to the bathroom and a small amount of thick dark brown/red blood passed. I phoned NHS 24 and basically told it is potentially a threatened miscarriage as there are no cramps and no further bleeding at that time. I went to bed as completely emotionally drained and when I have been to the bathroom I have had spotting and light bleeding. I will add I have some minor pain around my hips/pelvic area.

Can anyone else tell me their experience of this...bad or good? I am devastated and prepared for the worst as I truelly believe there is something clinically wrong preventing me carrying a pregnancy.

Hi,

I'm so sorry to hear you're going through this stressful time!

I was 5 weeks last week and starting spotting on Monday day. Then Monday evening it got heavier and bright red. Sadly I knew it wasn't right so I rang the doctors and I got into the early pregnancy unit at hospital. They did a scan and said my womb looked empty but I still had to have my hormone levels checked by taking bloods. Had one taken yesterday and then I'll have another Sunday and they will compare my levels. I think if they go down then this means I am having or had a miscarriage.
My bleeding has stopped now but lasted since Monday evening.
It's truly awful however I obviously hope that yours is just down to some other reasons.
But I've always been told that sadly miscarriage babies weren't healthy babies anyway as hard as it is.

I'm surprised you can't get in to have blood tests, have you asked? It's important so they can rule out things like ectopic pregnancies.

Xx

I've been at work the past two days and started spotting/lightly bleeding again. Welll aware this can take a turn for the worst and I requested to take be taken for bloods and a scan twice this past week and was denied by my GP. I will phone EPU on Monday as this is exactly one week now.

Hi again, I'm. So sorry this is happening to you. I Know the agony of fighting with your gp. Keep calling them. Demand to speak to another gp if yours isn't listening. Ask to speak to the Women's Health specialist.

I would never ever normally recommend this and will get flamed here for it. But for. Peace of mind. Maybe go to a and e or a Walk in centre.

Keep an eye on the bleeding and rest as much as you can.

Hi, so I have a scan booked for Thursday. I bypassed my GP and of course, as everyone told me, the EPU were very understanding. I've had no bleeding for ar least 3 days now thank god and took more tests (the midwife advised a test 10 days from the start of bleeding) which all remain positive. So I have everything crossed for tomorrow...pretty scared as I will have to go in alone since no children are allowed in the hospital and I don't have someone for DS.

So happy you have an appointment. Really hope all is well.

In regards to your dc maybe call them and explain that you don't have any childcare. I've had to do this back in August (although it was no where near as bad it is now) my dc is 5 and I bribed dc with a sweetie if they wore a mask during the time in hospital and that seemed to work. I also gave dc my phone and headphones with something to watch. The EPU at the time were fine having him there. But I would inquire you never know what they will say. After that dh was able to stay in the car with dc.

I just went in alone which was just as well as I was in there for an hour. Had a few different diagnoses thrown about beginning with fibroid all the way up to ?tumour until the second consultant finally found i have a ectopic but not in the tube. I've forgotten what she called it but it is rare and that's why I haven't had the typical symptoms. So I go back on Saturday for bloods and take it from there :(

I am so sorry it wasnt the outcome you wanted but at least you know now. Take care of yourself

Funkypickle · 14/01/2021 19:43

I'm so sorry. At least you have been seen and will get treatment. I know you will not be feeling like it now. But keep a notepad or something around to jot down any questions you have for the consultant. I always forgot what I wanted to ask when I was with them. You will be seeing alot of them depending on how they've decided to do treatment.

It's awful having to face this alone. I completely understand. Tommys.org offer some fantastic support and advice if you're needing it or just want a couple of things cleared up.

A hot water bottle and paracetamol were my saviours during mine.

Wishing you a speedy and easy recovery.

I ended up admitted on Friday night, they suspect a cornual ectopic and don't want to operate at the weekend because it is high risk of bleeding and potentially a hysterectomy (worst case scenario) I have another scan tomorrow as they are hoping it may not be the case . Regardless I won't be able to have methotrexate injection as HCG levels are too high.

How are you doing with it all? Sorry to hear but hope you get the treatment needed ASAP

haidri · 18/01/2021 22:15

Hi guys, I'm a bit stuck.

So two weeks ago I was supposed to be 9 weeks & therefore had a private early reassurance scan (as I previously had a miscarriage 3months ago when I got to 12 weeks) and at the scan they dated me 6 weeks.

I had a NHS scan today due to me seeing browny discharge and they've dated me 6 weeks when I should be 11.

Am I having a missed miscarriage because they can see the sac but no embryo?

I'm confused!

LuluF91 · 19/01/2021 07:55

I got sent home last night with no meds, no paperwork and the lovely information that the only patient in my bay has COVID. I had 2 internal scans, one of which was very long and I was told finally they didn't think it was cornual after all but a "pregnancy gone wrong in the uterus". My dr only came to see me at 7pm that evening to discuss treatment and the when I chose medical management she ends up telling me I don't meet the criteria because of my HCG risking and something about the absence of a heartbeat can't be confirmed because it's ended or because its too early.

@haidri I don't know what that means. You need to ask a professional. It doesn't sound like good news to me if you've had no growth for 2 weeks but you need to ask a dr.

Just to update you guys... I had a blighted ovum. I'm devastated as this would've been a rainbow child after having a miscarriage in September. But I guess it's now two miscarriages in a row. Keep me in your prayers x

@LuluF91 hoping that you would have received some answers by now. Its horrible being kept in limbo. Really hoping all is well

How many weeks are you? I had a haematoma and heavy bleeding at 5 weeks followed by spotting for a few weeks. I’m now 23 weeks pregnant and so far so good. Try not to worry
