Pregnancy test still positive

Hello,

I had surgery on June 27th for an ectopic at 6weeks. Hcg level was around 9000 at that time.
I'm still having blaring positive pregnancy tests.
Does anyone know how long this takes to become negative - it's just getting me down as I want to have a first cycle before trying again, and obviously won't get a first cycle until my body is free of hcg hormone.

Any help/insight or advice would be hugely appreciated, I'm feeling quite down about it all

Thank you x

I'm so sorry this is happening to you @coffeewithmilk. As if it's not stressful and difficult enough, it sounds like the hospital is being really unhelpful. Good idea to see your GP.

@coffeewithmilk It does sound like they are being rather negligent especially as you are 4 weeks post mc now. All of the ladies who I know with positive tests 3 weeks after mc have been told to call back and then offered a scan just to check for retained tissue which can happen with any kind of mc. Hopefully this is not the case and your levels are just taking longer to go down. It's good that you are felling your GP though, I hope you get some more answers from them xx

Ok I've just been at EPU. They did blood hcg (won't be back until tomorrow) and they also did an internal scan. Couldn't see anything obvious on the scan but they're almost certain it is a new pregnancy - as they said it would be impossible for the tests to be so positive this long after the surgery.
Have to go back on Thursday for the repeat blood hcg and then go from there.. if it is increasing then they'll do another scan, if it's decreasing then it's most likely not a viable pregnancy and then they will discuss further options..
How could I possibly be pregnant again.. we only DTD on the 10th July and I had a heavy bleed on July 19th.
Very confusing x

@coffeewithmilk When you posted the pic I did think it was an extremely strong line! The lines I were getting post miscarriage were obvious but much fainter. It is only a small window to get pregnant again and seems unlikely but you never know?! I'm glad you have been though and they are now keeping an eye on you. It's also good that no retained products could be seen. It's such a confusing time for you! I hope you get a good outcome 🤞🏼 let us know how it goes xx

It's all very strange but will need to just sit tight and wait for the other blood test and go from there. Very different change of events! Will keep this thread updated x

Had the second hcg and only went up by 30 so they did a scan and say it's a pregnancy of unknown location. Need to be admitted for more bloods and scans. Worst luck in the world but just have to go with it, I'm in the beat hands x
