Miscarriage lasted one day??

We reached 7 weeks yesterday and I woke up to lots of blood pouring out of me. Then about an hour later I birthed two bigger than gold ball sized clots. I had some more heavy bleeding for a couple of hours and then it tailed off and I've not really had anything since. I've not had any pain whatsoever. Just a few niggles before the clots came out.

This is our 5th miscarriage in 4 years. Three have been MMC and I had surgery. Only one other was spontaneous but that was very early at 4 weeks and I bled for several weeks but no big clots. So this is a new experience and I don't know what is going on.

Why has it stopped already? Is this the calm before the storm? Should I expect more clots then more heavy bleeding or is this it?

Do those two big clots mean it was twins?
Or can one baby cause that?

I won't even begin to go into my emotional state 😢

Yes!!!!!! I'm so happy!!

I've been refreshing this thread all morning! Haha!

What wonderful news - and I believe that I know EXACTLY how you are feeling as I remember it all too well when it happened to me! The sonographer didn't sugarcoat it - she was like 'well there's a baby with a heartbeat...' I stopped breathing! I kept saying 'what? What?' I couldn't believe it!

dreadpiratered · 17/04/2020 14:20

So pleased for you. But also totally understand your stress! Will keep my fingers crossed. Did they date you ?

Luckystar1 · 17/04/2020 14:22

Ah I am so happy for you!! I hope that the rest of your pregnancy is straightforward.

Frazzlerock · 17/04/2020 14:34

@niki26 the Sonographer reassured me and just said it's good news today and to try and be positive. I told her I've been positive before and it didn't get me anywhere but thanked her all the same and told he I understand she's just trying to help!
I also just kept saying "what? What? What? HOOOOOOWWW???" I just kept asking questions and realised they were trying to look at the scan so I apologised and tried to shit the fuck up.

They have no idea why I'm bleeding. Didn't mention subchorionic bleeds.

@dreadpiratered yes they dated me at 7+5 which is exactly the dates I had which I worked out from 2 weeks pre ovulation as I have PCOS and bonkers cycles.
Mind you they did also give me the dates from LMP which wasn't that far out tbh at 8+4.
So EDD is 29th Nov if we ever get that far 🤞

Everything crossed for a safe happy healthy pregnancy

VenusStarr · 17/04/2020 15:45

Yay!! @Frazzlerock I am SO happy for you :) I know there is a long way to go but I am rooting for you. Such wonderful news. This really gives me hope too 💜 xx

Hi all,

I've another thread over in Pregnancy but I wanted to update you here too in case you're following.

Things are uncertain again as I had another big bleed and clots yesterday so I went to the emergency gynae unit. They couldn't scan me but checked my cervix, which is still closed - I don't understand how that's possible but apparently it is.
Then they booked me for a scan on Weds which has now been postponed until Monday as they say its not good for the pregnancy to scan again within 10 days of the last one.
I had quite a bit of cramping when I got home which I'm hoping was because of all the rummaging around the doctor had to do to find my very hidden cervix.
Cramping stopped by the evening and bleeding is slowing down now. I was very bloated last night and was really uncomfortable with the bloat during the night so not sure what that is.

I don't really know what is going on in there. I feel like my symptoms are fading so, yet again, I'm not hopeful.
Now for the long wait until Monday...

Oh what a rollercoaster- pregnancy really is a very scary and emotional time. Fingers crossed all is ok - my pocket of blood had gone by my 12 week scan but I did have brown bleeding at week 17 which worried me - it was when my period would have been due.

Cervix being closed is good - but i appreciate that probably won't offer you any comfort at the moment.

VenusStarr · 21/04/2020 19:09

I'm really sorry to hear that @Frazzlerock ❤️ I hope that they identify why you're bleeding and where from and that your little one is doing OK in there. You must be so worried, I hope time passes quickly for you xx

Frazzlerock · 22/04/2020 10:56

@niki26 did they ever find out where that blood was actually coming from and why?
I am a bit worried that if I'm losing that much blood, it must be because something is wrong, even if its not the pregnancy. But the EPU don't seem bothered!

OP posts:
niki26 · 22/04/2020 11:10

No they never did! When they scanned me they said there was a small pocket of blood still there - by my 12 week scan is had been absorbed BUT I had minor brown bleeding again when my period was due.

I am injecting blood thinners daily and asked if this was the reason for the bleed. The docs said they didn't know and probably never would. My colleague had a massive bleed (her son is now 7!) and she was on aspirin.....It is frustrating not having the answers.

How is the bleeding now?

Frazzlerock · 22/04/2020 11:23

Weird isn't it. I've never had this with any of my now 7 pregnancies.
I do have a femoral hernia and it just hit me yesterday if it could be coming from there somehow. Probably a completely different part of my anatomy but I did wonder and I haven't mentioned it to the doctors as I forgot about it.

I'm still bleeding a bit when I wipe, but it's not pouring out like it did on Monday and last week. I'm so sick of the sight of blood. My DS had a big nose bleed last night (he gets big ones on occasions) and rather than holding his nose immediately, he let it pour out EVERYWHERE so his room, the landing and the bathroom looked like a murder scene.
Blood smeared everywhere. If I never see blood again it'll be too soon!

I have just started taking low dose aspirin today. I was meant to take it from 7 weeks but that was when I had the first huge bleed so thought I'd better not. I spoke to the midwife yesterday, who I'm yet to book in with, who said it was up to me but it can help the placenta to attach at 12 weeks (or something). I kind of got the feeling I should just start taking it, regardless of the bleeding.

I just hate this limbo. I want to know if baby is okay, and if not I can move on with my life. Monday is going to be a double edged sword as it is because I'll be 9 weeks by then and our babies normally die by that point anyway, even without this bleeding mystery.

Why can't this ever be easy? People in my social circles just flippin have babies without any drama! Even in their 40's. sigh...

@Frazzlerock I don't really have any advice to give, but I didn't want to read and run. Sorry you're going through this emotional trauma, it must be beyond hellish for you.

I'll be thinking of you and keeping everything crossed that baby is healthy and this is your time Flowers

itsallgonepw · 23/04/2020 15:00

Hope you are doing ok OP. Hope you are sitting in the sunshine.

Babyshine2020 · 23/04/2020 15:09

@frazzlerock I've been following this thread but I didn't want to jump in and give you false hope. I bled the way you're describing between weeks 6 and 14. It's horrible. And then to top it up I went to my 16 week spot appointment and the midwife couldn't find a heart beat..! I'm not 25 weeks and being booted every day by my little monster.

It's crap because nobody talks about bleeding in pregnancy unless it's a miscarriage. I've ranted at so many people about this as it seems like such a taboo.

I'm so happy that everything is looking good for you!

It turns out I have placenta previa and an anterior placenta so I'm predisposed to bleeding. I still have the odd day now and then, but you learn to know what to worry and when it's just your body.

I wish you all the luck in the world for the coming months

Frazzlerock · 23/04/2020 15:24

Thank you @Babyshine2020 that gives me hope!

The only bleeding I've ever had in pregnancy was a very small amount with my 3rd pregnancy which turned out to be a MMC. It really was a tiny bit and barely worth worrying about (I thought). So to have this much bleeding and baby being fine blows my mind!

@itsallgonepw I'm okay. Working away on the sofa with my laptop

My tummy is huge at the moment but I don't feel as bloated as I was the other day. I'm mega tired, just want to close my eyes but I have work to do. So I've got Escape to the Country on and getting on with boring work. Beats sitting in an office Grin

4 days to go and can't help but think that Monday's scan is a real double edged sword as we can't seem to get past 9 weeks without a MMC and that's without all this bleeding

I had a 2 miscarriages, both with no bleeding during pregnancy. One missed at 14 weeks. My successful pregnancy (my daughter is now 11months) I poured with blood and clots from 7 to 19 weeks just sat in the shower and cried with a bottle of wine and then I got scanned baby was fine. I was lucky epu scanned me after every big bleed and my midwife even advised me to get a doppler for reassurance just after bleeds (I know this is frowned upon but could tell the baby's heartbeat and knew it wasnt a certain sign of all been ok) but bleeding doesnt necessarily mean it's all over. I had clots the size of my palm sometimes but never had any pain. Hope all is ok sorry for what you've been through x

VenusStarr · 27/04/2020 07:10

Thinking of you today @Frazzlerock 💜

niki26 · 27/04/2020 09:37

Yes thinking of you xxxx

Frazzlerock · 27/04/2020 10:44

It's good news!!
Baby was having a little wriggly dance to show how tough 'he' is 😱

Doctor said this baby is tough and there is still a lot of blood around but baby doesn't seem bothered by it. I'm just dreading it all coming away. She wants to scan me again in 2 weeks.
Thank you for your wonderful support x

Amazing! Keep strong mummy and baby x

niki26 · 27/04/2020 11:21

Yes!!!!! What a strong baby you have in there!

I'm so so pleased!!!!

VenusStarr · 27/04/2020 11:58

Fabulous news @Frazzlerock do they know why you're bleeding?

So happy for you 😊

itsallgonepw · 27/04/2020 14:52

So so pleased! Did they say how many weeks you were?

Frazzlerock · 27/04/2020 15:06

It looks like a subchorionic hemorrhage. It's 4cm so pretty big.
Baby is 9 weeks plus 1 day and measuring 2.27 cm (spot on for dates) so this bleed is huge in comparison.

I just hope it resolves itself. I've read lots of positive stories today but also a handful of not so good ones.
This is so typical of me, it's pretty rare to have multiple miscarriages but it happened to me. Every time we lost a baby we were told it's just bad luck. The chances of having a SCH is 1% and that's happened to me too!
What next I wonder...!! Confused
Still its good news today so I'm clinging onto that! Grin I wish I could have filmed our wriggly baby so I could watch it back over and over again
