Dear mums,

Just thought, it will help me get some positivity talking to you all. So last friday we have been to hospital for a 12 week scan just to find out that our little sweet heart is no more. My husband and I are completely devastated and frozen. Unable to cope with the loss. As my first pregnancy was completely normal and have a 2 year old, we were so optimistic and planned a whole lot of year for the new arrival. Now they everything is upside down, we are feeling restless and the only thing which will make me feel good is to conceive again and get a darling baby. I have been reading a lot and many mums say they have had multiple miscarriages but still had successful preganancies. I am hoping to have some encouraging news from you all. My D&C is booked on this thursday and want to know has anyone successfully conceived soon after this procedure. We really dont want to wait. I know docs advice to wait for 3 months to get the regular cycle but I am just unable to bear this void and really want to be pregnant again. Is it wrong to think that way ? please mums share your positive stories on anyone who got successful pregnancies after D&C. Sorry to write this way i am just trying to get a lot of reassurance as the waiting seems to kill us and a minute is going like an hour...please help.

Ladies just a small thing...I called up the epu and got to know that it was not molar pregnancy..(ufff relieved) and also my blood test which I insisted to take on the day of d and c for checking my thyroid hormone and they said its 5.7 which is slightly higher than the normal level (she said this would not have caused the miscarriage). They would not worry about thyroid if its not more than 10 it seems...I was little worried about that. So I have planned to get by blood checks doen before TTC

Hi @Winkle2020 I just wanted to share that I too had a mmc discovered at our 12wk scan late May. To say I was devastated would be an understatement, I’d had a scan at 8wks and saw a HB. Anyhoo, I had medical management followed by a d&c a few days later. I did wait for two cycles to try again, as much as I was desperate to be pregnancy again I’m so glad I gave myself time to breath and to process it. My first period lasted like 12 days and was all over the place so think my body was still adjusting.

I am now 11wks pregnant and it looks like hopefully all is going well. I had a scan yesterday and we saw our beautiful liked baby.

Give yourself some time to deal with your loss and for your body to heal. It’s so hard dealing with a loss at a 12wk scan.

@Bumpingalong84 congratulations that's lovely news. I think waiting is a good idea but not sure I'll have the will power x

@Winkle2020
I'm obsessed with my thyroid at the moment. I have an Underactive thyroid and take medication.

Whilst I was on my way to my doomed 20 week scan my GP rang to ask why my medication hadn't been put up? I had no idea what he was talking about and said I'm under a consultant because of the thyroid.
He started to read out reports about how pregnant women should increase their dose as soon as they miss a period.

I've contacted the hospital to look into it and I was going to start a thread on mn to see what other women's experiences were.

EarringsandLipstick · 30/10/2019 08:15

@avocadoincident

Just wanted to comment re thyroid. Your GP is correct, once you are pregnant, your hypothyroidism must be carefully managed, and your thyroxine dose increased. Often you need gradually increased doses throughout the first half of the pregnancy and then it levels off.

I'm sorry for your losses, wishing you all luck 💐

avocadoincident · 30/10/2019 10:59

@EarringsandLipstick thank you for saying that. I've read so many research reports now that link thyroid levels and miscarriage yet in neither pregnancy have they upped my dose. Only this one ended in miscarriage though and I could be clutching at straws but it could be the reason it happened.

I started the thread asking for other women's experiences and no one has had their thyroxine upped except 1.

Underactive thyroid anyone? www.mumsnet.com/Talk/pregnancy/3730720-underactive-thyroid-anyone

@Linzi2019 how's work going? I'm dreading seeing people in real life

Linzi2019 · 30/10/2019 11:42

Aww congratulations @Bumpingalong84. I have a question when is it ok to have sex again after your d and c my was 1 week and 3 days ago x

Linzi2019 · 30/10/2019 12:07

Is going ok thank you @avocadoincident Monday was hard but trying to be positive the girls at work have been amazing xx

Winkle2020 · 30/10/2019 12:09

@Bumpingalong84 thats lovely news and I can imagine how happy and relieved you must be. To be honest we have already DTD a week after D and C and not stopping anything. Just being intimate with him, gives me a consolation that we are getting near another baby (we are so devasted after this and kind of feeling to get pregnant as soon as possible).

@avocadoincident@EarringsandLipstick: hey ladies I have been to GP this morning, discussing my concerns on why this MC has occurred.

I have not been diagnosed for thyroid problems before pregnancy. So only at 8 weeks blood test they have tested my thyroid and it was still 5.7. GP looking at my blood test which is done on the day of D and C, said my TSH is 5.7 and it's only slightly higher than usual and therefore no need for any medication. But whenever I read online people say your thyroid levels need to be less than 2 in the first trimester. I have booked another appointment coming Friday to discuss this again

Second I was also diagnosed with UTI at 8 weeks during my pregnancy and was given antibiotics. So I have given my wee sample today to check for that as well.

I also asked the GP would my traveling to work could have caused this and she says no (I travel every day 4 hours up and down to my workplace)

No one has checked my HCG levels still and when asked GP said I would check your HCG after a month as it usually takes that long to leave your body

Given all these, we have decided not to delay trying for the next little one in the meantime try and solve all these...Trust me its so so hard time to go through this. Its been ages we have even smiled at each other :( I hope before new year we have some good news

Hi everyone I'm looking for some advice please. Found out I'd had a mmc on sunday have been bleeding since Saturday. They offered me a d and c on the Monday but I was scared of the risks so wanted to see if my body did it naturally.

I passed a big clot yesterday then just blood and a big clot this morning along with very sore back. Started having contractions 2 every 5 mins and they are so painful. Does anyone know how long this will last?

Sorry for all your losses!

Winkle2020 · 30/10/2019 12:52

Please don’t be scared, I know naturally passing the tissue is very painful, if you experience heavy bleeding please call epu for emergency admission. Anyway they will have to check you in a scan to find everything is cleared

BecauseItIz · 30/10/2019 13:15

Thank you for your reply. Nobody told me I would be having contractions. I have had 3 Children with just gas and air and the pain I'm in now is the same as my labours. They are going to scan me once I've finished as with my last mc I retained products and it was awful. I wish I'd agreed to the d and c now.

Sorry for rambling I'm on the floor in pain with my 1 year old jumping on me.

avocadoincident · 30/10/2019 14:34

@BecauseItIz I'm so sorry that you are going through this. I wish wish wish that hospitals would give out proper information so we were all informed.

Take care of yourself. Do you have other adults there?

Winkle2020 · 31/10/2019 09:08

@Linzi2019 when you are physically and emotionally ready I would say you can start trying. This will atleast give you peace of mind

@BecauseItIz hello are you ok today ?

OP posts:
Winkle2020 · 31/10/2019 14:52

My HPT still shows positive ... :( :(.... 3 weeks from actual miscarriage start and 2 weeks post d and c :(

OP posts:
Bumpingalong84 · 01/11/2019 18:59

@Winkle2020 I think mine was about 2-3weeks after d&c. Depending on how far you were there is a lot of hormone to come down. Mine was at 12 wks, and even tho it had died at 8 my body was still producing hormone and gestational sac was growing as it was a mmc.

Is it a strong positive? Give it a few days and if it’s still positive give your epu a call, they will need to re scan you to make sure there is no residual tissue.

Winkle2020 · 02/11/2019 01:50

@Bumpingalong84 mine is similar to yours. MMC at 12 weeks but baby stopped at 8 weeks. Epu has asked me to do a test in another week. They would not offer me any blood test or scan yet

Winkle2020 · 04/11/2019 08:11

I am going back to work today after weeks off for mmc. Don’t know how to manage seeing everyone. Don’t want to cry, as when people talk nicely to me about this I break down a lot. @Linzi2019 hope you coping well. My positive lines are getting fainter. I have a scan tomorrow to confirm everything is clear. Not sure when I am going to ovulate but dtd hoping for the best. This waiting game is killing us

Winkle2020 · 15/11/2019 16:41

Hey all, just to update Its been 4 weeks since my d and c, no af yet and still getting faint positive lines in the hpt. I am thinking its because of the retained products, going for a scan on 21st. So sick of waiting :( :(
