Hi ladies, so after a miscarriage at 6+3 last year and another 8 months of trying, I had a positive pt 2 weeks ago today. I worked from my tracking app that I was 5 weeks pregnant that day, going by my lmp. We decided to get a private early scan due to my worry after the mc last year. So I had that yesterday and after not finding anything on an ultrasound, she did an internal scan and eventually (after a lot of prodding and pushing) she found what she thought was an empty gestational sac! But couldn't see anything inside at all. My cycles do vary a bit in length but even if I was a week or so out, they should surely still be seeing something at this stage?! I'm phoning my doc tomorrow morning to see if they'll do blood tests to check hcg. I have nausea, sore boobs etc, but I'm wondering if this is a case of blighted ovum. Absolutely gutted. The sonographer also said she struggled to find the gestational sac cos my uterus is so tilted! I've never heard that before (and I've had early scans with no issues with previous 2 children), but I do have a bicornuate uterus (as picked up during emergency c-section in early delivery of my second ds).
Just sharing as I need to vent about my despair! I am blessed to have two beautiful boys (6 & 10) but they are from a previous relationship and my partner and I would love a baby of our own. I am 39 and my partner is 40. Thank you if you've read this far Smile

Hello Josie.

We just wanted to offer a hand hold. So sorry to hear about your miscarriage last year and that you had a frightening time at the scan yesterday. We'll keep everything crossed for you. Occasionally dates can be wrong. If it does turn out to be bad news though, we hope you'll find lots of support here.

Do pop back and let us know how it goes. We hope today brings more positive news.
