Hi all
I recently had a scan at 7 weeks and there was no heartbeat so had to go back a week later to check and still no heartbeat so I am now faced with letting the miscarriage come naturally, medical or surgical
Can't face waiting for it to happen and it's now been 3 weeks so what did other opt for - I did think medical but then I couldn't face if it didn't work and then with surgical I was told that this could effect future pregnancy's??
Any advice would be greatly appreciated x

@FirstTimeMama91 do you not have to wait for a proper period first before trying? I want to start ASAP but thought you had to wait? I will do a test next week also and then start on the ovulation sticks xx

Hello! I suppose I'm just looking for a bit of help and advice- I hope you don't mind I'm joining. I'm (was) 7 + 3 with one baby and 7+2 with the other. A couple of weeks ago ( at 5+3) I went to my EPU because of some pain and light pink discharge. They've done blood and urine test and scan. During the scan they've picked up that I have two sacs one measuring 5+3 the other 5+2. They've arranged another scan for today (2weeks later). My symptoms definitely got stronger, I'm off a lot of food, wee all the time, boobs are growing like mad and feeling sick and tired pretty much all day!
Today I've went for a normal maternity US where the lady pretty much after 10 seconds (not even looking properly) said she thinks that the sacs are empty. She didn't have my notes and results from two weeks ago so we told her what we were told back then. She then put her hands up in the air and said but there are no babies so I've had a missed miscarriage. We then went back down to the EPU, it turns out that she didn't even put down both sac's measurements on my report and in fact, the one sac they could compare to her notes has more than doubled in size since last week. My hcg was 10,000+ two weeks ago so they've done another blood test to confirm and they will do another scan tomorrow with another sonographer. The doc said they can't confirm miscarriage unless the sac is 27mm and empty or the pole is less than 12 mm by now. I am shocked and angry that the lady who did our scan today pretty much told me I've lost both babies when that may not be the case. I know chances are very slight that anything will be picked up tomorrow so I'm mentally preparing myself to the worst.

@FirstTimeMama91 I was in the Nov group as well. I'm sorry to see you here! Thanks

FirstTimeMama91 · 12/04/2019 13:26

@Babybloom sorry to see you hear but don't lose hope yet until you get a final answer. That woman sounds horrible she shouldn't have that job! Fingers are crossed you get good news x Thanks

FirstTimeMama91 · 12/04/2019 13:28

@Ruthsoph the lady in EPPU said the only reason we would be advised to wait until after one period is so that doctors can predict our due date, but usually they can do that from measurements. She said once you get a negative pregnancy test and you're feeling emotionally and physically ready, then you can start trying again.

I did a cheapy pregnancy test this morning, still have a faint line. Gonna try a clear blue digital on Sunday x

Babybloom · 12/04/2019 13:29

Thank you @FirstTimeMama91 hopefully we will know more tomorrow! I hope your tries will be successful again!

Ruthsoph · 12/04/2019 13:33

@'babybloom i have everything crossed for you and hope it all works out xxx

@Ruthsoph thank you so much! The love and support I'm getting here already is making me feel better! Thanks

FirstTimeMama91 · 12/04/2019 14:07

@Babybloom thank you me too xThanksStar

Babybloom · 12/04/2019 17:36

Just got a call from the hospital and my hcg levels went up to 42,000 which is at the top end of what they were expecting. Scan tomorrow morning to check everything again!

FirstTimeMama91 · 12/04/2019 18:23

@Babybloom ah amazing! Hopefully it's good news Thanks x

Littleseed · 12/04/2019 20:55

@Lauraliverpool hugs each week marks an anniversary, doesn't it? Sad It's 2 weeks to the day since we had the scan and were told. It seems so shocking and surreal- in the first scan, we saw the sac and in the next, it was gone- like it was never there. Sad

@Ruthsoph hugs darling. Flowers So glad to hear the procedure went as well as it could. It's totally understandable that you feel empty. Sad It does feel that way. Really? I hope that's true about being more fertile! That would be lovely, wouldn't it? Smile

@FirstTimeMama91 Thinking of you. Flowers That's great you've bought the HPT and have them to hand. Aww, you took the test before the weekend then. Hopefully the next test will be negative and then you can start trying again.
Thanks for explaining why they tell you to wait until after your first period.
In that case, it's nonsensical wasting time and waiting when you could be trying to conceive, in my opinion. Especially as you said- they can find out from the measurements how far along you are!

Littleseed · 12/04/2019 20:57

@Babybloom hugs

That lady's behaviour AND lack of empathy as well as her RUDE body language is disgusting, despicable and nobody deserves to experience that.

As @FirstTimeMama91 said- she is the wrong person for the job and I personally think you should officially complain against her.

On another note, everything else is sounding promising and I hope you hear wonderful news at your scan! Smile

FirstTimeMama91 · 12/04/2019 21:16

@Littleseed yep I couldn't wait lol! I've zero patience.
Yeah see that's what I think so what's the point waiting an extra month or two when you could be trying already. Fingers crossed for ya x

FirstTimeMama91 · 12/04/2019 21:18

I just had a wee glass of prosecco in the bath. Was weird having an alcoholic drink! That's my first in ages.

Going to meet Mrs Hinch tomorrow in Dublin lol bittersweet feelings because I love her but she's got a wee bump Thanks
Awk well hopefully it'll be our time soon girls x

Littleseed · 12/04/2019 21:27

Yeh, exactly @FirstTimeMama91! I share those exact sentiments. For someone who can conceive easily, they could well be 8 weeks pregnant in the time they've waited for a period to come and go!
It's sad because on one hand you want to immediately replace what you've lost- straight away- if possible.
On the otherhand, you're fearful because of your MC and become an even bigger stress head worrying you'd lose your baby every time. Sad

FirstTimeMama91 · 12/04/2019 21:30

@Littleseed yep exactly.. I just feel like every pregnancy is going to be such a worrying time. We'll be over-analysing every little thing. It's terrible. Was thing your first miscarriage? It was mine, we conceived first cycle we tried too. Was all too good to be true x

Babybloom · 12/04/2019 21:33

@Littleseed thank you lovely, I will definitely make a complaint as if this is how she is treating others than I'd like to question why she is in her position.

@FirstTimeMama91 That sounds like a good decision then and I wish you best of luck!! Smile

FirstTimeMama91 · 12/04/2019 21:44

@Babybloom thanks lovely you too Thanks

Littleseed · 12/04/2019 21:47

@FirstTimeMama91 That's very promising though- that you conceived first cycle. Hopefully it'll mean that you'll conceive easily the second time too. You're 100% right though- we will be anxious, and will inevitably be over-analysing- regardless.
Sadly for us, we'd been TTC for 10 years and this was our little miracle. I have no idea how long it would take TC a second time.

Littleseed · 12/04/2019 21:48

Bang on @Babybloom. I'm disgusted with the way she treated you. It should never have happened.

Keep us updated on how your scan goes lovely. Halo xx

FirstTimeMama91 · 12/04/2019 21:52

@Littleseed 🤞🏻 fingers crossed.

Awk no way, you'll get there don't lose hope. Praying for you xx

Lauraliverpool · 12/04/2019 22:37

@Littleseed today marks a week since the surgery and I'm thinking how can it have come round so quick? Had a follow up scan today and showed that the surgery went ok I'm glad that is what they said because I don't think I could have faced prolonging this horrible nightmare more and more reminder of what I've lost. Now waiting for our appointment for the miscarriage clinic. Hugs to you. Xx

Babybloom · 13/04/2019 10:18

I'm sitting at the EPU waiting for my scan, I'm so nervous so is husband. I try to hang on to some miracle that one of them is there! I'm not ready to lose both little beans.

Babybloom · 13/04/2019 11:14

Unfortunately, this won't end up well for us. We've had the scan, one sac seems to be very slow in progress, the other is bigger and even grew since yesterday but it's still empty and no yolk sac either. The sono lady was much better and more thorough, she said although everything is looking well, the sacs are empty and therefore it is most likely to be a blighted ovum. Although she can't rule it out completely that I maybe too early, so they will probably do another scan. I'm heart broken and devastated!

FirstTimeMama91 · 13/04/2019 16:26

@Babybloom Awk ThanksThanks thinking of you xx
